Hahahahaha. Omg dude! Thank you so much for your suggestions! I went back over 300 points in blitz because I was tilted. I've been getting my points back slowly but surely. I'm also reading the book you mentioned!! The Lars Schandorff one on the caro-kann. I'm on page 20. I appreciate your insights and videos on chess.

    Some of my takeaways:
    1. Two games a day max
    2. Do your puzzles (15/15 if possible, 60 percent is good, set aside an hour).
    3. Don't do TOO many puzzles. Don't do too much.
    4. Stick to one opening
    5. Sometimes you need a break. Don't always be playing. Everyone gets tilted and that's okay, just gotta take a break.

He's just throwing his pawns 'cross the board,

But he won't just give up
Even when he's down a rook
Cause he's got in within him to be
      The most meanest chess G
On this earth, and he's cursed,
With this urge to just spurt some bizarre moves that work,
And white's king fell, so it helped
To relieve this tension within him
      But still

I decided to pick one opening for white (London) and two for black (Sicilian Dragon and Budapest), focusing on eliminating blunders and playing solid moves, and have gone up from 750 to 850 in the last month. I finally have my passion for chess again and hope to keep climbing the ratings.

It is simple to incorporate but has basic options with variables that can be learned overtime to react to your opponent's moves. The hippo syste is great because it keeps you from blundering pieces. You can play the hippo system for either white or black. The hippo system allows for strong counterattack chances in the early middle games.

I like to have a good mindset about chess. Even the pros sometimes make mistakes. Only difference between you and Magnus Carlsen is when you blunder, Magnus doesn't. Magnus and other masters may be able to formulate plans better and see more moves ahead compared to you, but who wins a chess game isn't the "better"player. You can be good until the last 10 moves or last 15 moves and not make a mistake, but then you say, blundur your queen or your rook or you miss checkmate. You can make really good moves but blundur constantly, and the rating doesn't show that you are good as you actually are. I think this happens when you're playing someone lower rated than you, I think when people are playing others that are lower rated, then they're lowering their guards down. Or as Ben Finegold puts it "You can't relax in chess, you always have to be focused". Hope this helps some of you!

I started tournaments at age 20 and played off and on for 6-7 years. My peak rating was 1905. Decades later I took up chess to teach my kids and now I coach in a school. Thinking about tournaments again and wondering if getting to FM is a realistic goal.

For instance, I am 1100-1200 and after this video I watched the Traxler Counter-Attack video. How can I effectively prepare it in a controlled environment, before jumping with the wolves in real games? In actual games, I can remember maybe 10% of the video I just saw, so I find myself in unfamiliar positions very soon and I just lose. What would be a good way to practice, say on chess.com?
