อุทยานแห่งชาติยวี่ซัน (Yushan National Park, 玉山國家公園) หรือภูเขาหยก เป็นหนึ่งในเก้าอุทยานแห่งชาตของไต้หวัน ที่มียอดเขาที่สูงที่สุดของประเทศ ได้รับการประกาศให้เป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติลำดับที่สองในปี 1985
ชื่ออุทยาน “ยวี่ซัน” นั้นได้รับการเรียกขานตามชื่อของยอดเขายวี่ซัน หรืออีกชื่อที่นักท่องเที่ยวไทยรู้จักกันดีคือ “ภูเขาหยก” (ชื่อเดิม Jade Mountain - แปลว่าหยก) ซึ่งเป็นยอดเขาที่สูงที่สุดของอุทยาน, สูงที่สุดในไต้หวัน และสูงที่สุดในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือด้วย
Jade Mountain (Yushan) is Taiwan’s tallest mountain at 3,952m (12,966 ft). Although Jade Mountain is one of the easier high mountain hikes in Taiwan, you need to be in good fitness to be able to hike it. It’s located within the Yushan National Park just next to the famous Alishan National Scenic Area in the central mountains of Taiwan. If measured from the nearby ocean floor, the Jade Mountain Main Peak rises an impressive 8,000m in only 100 km.
Jade Mountain is the most famous, and therefore most popular hike in Taiwan. Everyone with an interest in adventure, hiking, and the outdoors in Taiwan wants to be able to say that they’ve climbed it once. Permits are very difficult to get, but if given 4 months advance notice, we can usually secure one. We cannot and will not apply for weekend permits. If there’s less than a month before the dates you’d like to hike, please don’t email us about Jade Mountain. However, there still may be time to get permits for one of the many other excellent high mountain hikes that Taiwan has to offer.
2 Day Ascent
Difficulty - 3 (out of 5) Duration - 2 days and 2 nights (more can be arranged)
The first day involves a 6 hour walk. The second day is usually around 10 hours. There is some exposure to heights and high altitude. A good level of fitness is required. Hikers usually need to carry around 8-10kg to Paiyun Cabin.
Single Day Ascent
Difficulty - 5 (out 5) Duration - 1 day and 1 night
The single day ascent involves a tough 10-12 hours of hiking. There is a 1700m elevation gain hiking from the trailhead to Yushan (Jade Mountain) Main Peak. There is some exposure to heights and high altitude. A high level of fitness is required. One of the criteria for getting a permit to do the single day ascent is that hikers must provide photographic evidence of themselves on top of a recognized 3000m+ peak from anywhere in the world.
ACCOMMODATION
The first night is spent in a basic but comfortable hotel near the Jade Mountain (Yushan) trailhead. Your group will sleep with up to 5 people in a room, with individual beds and a large, clean bathroom. The second night is spent in a basic mountain cabin (Paiyun Cabin) in barrack-style bunks.
TRANSPORTATION
Private transportation is provided from anywhere in Taipei or the Taipei/Taoyuan Airport to Jade Mountain. Pickups in other locations can be arranged, sometimes for a small extra fee.
FOOD
All the main meals are provided for the hike. Clients only need to bring their own snacks. If you have any special dietary requests, allergies, or needs, let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate you.

2 Day Ascent
Private trips to Jade Mountain (Yushan) start at $62,000TWD for groups of 1 to 3 people. Each additional person is $16,800TWD.
Single Day Ascent
Private trips to Yushan (Jade Mountain) start at $68,800TWD for groups of 1 to 3 people. (Yes, it costs more than a 2 day ascent) Each additional person is $18,800TWD.
LEADERS AND SAFETY
All of our leaders are Wilderness First Responder certified and carry first aid kits. They have all spent a lot of time hiking in Taiwan and are very experienced in the high mountains. All of our leaders are native speakers of English, but also speak Mandarin and are very knowledgeable about the local mountains, flora/fauna, and culture.
