Many, many years ago as a young boy of 12 years, I had a dream, in which I saw myself old as I am today. In my dream, I am returning to the church of my parochial school. The church is empty of pews, etc, and it is lit up with giant lights. There are lot of Catholic Churches in Pennsylvania. Some have sold to repurposed. And some have abandoned and razed too. Too big and attendance too small and utility bill is too high. Go find a smaller church.
It’s really very simple. If they are not taking in enough money and have enough people coming then the people who were served by the church moved. They closed the church and every other church years ago. You may say the community is poor but the churches were build by the poor, poor immigrants in most cases, the Catholic ones anyway. This is happening in many dioceses. The Church is reaping what it sowed for more than 60 years. It sowed disobedience to scripture, tradition & magisterium, tolerance & protection of sexual behavior prohibited by G-d, utter lack of teaching of the faithful. And now it is reaping the harvest, the faithful have become faithless, the coffers are emptied to pay reparations to those hurt by sexual perversions, the pews are increasingly empty. And who pays for all this? The truly faithful, who believe that that the true church will always triumph. They watch the Church Militant get beaten again & again in temporal battle. They suffer hard lessons in detachment through betrayal after betrayal.
Finally! A sane and wise voice on this thread. Do you see how most people haven’t a clue? Even some Catholics here don’t really understand what has happened! The Church will triumph. Albeit battered for now.
So sad. Older churches are more expensive to maintain. It sounds like parishioners need to start drawing more Catholics to come to Mass and contribute to St. Ann's upkeep.
Just a thought, perhaps the Pope should dip in to the deep pockets of the Vatican and give back to the people just a little of what they have taken. This I believe would be the Christian thing to do.
I support St. Ann Church, all their African American parishioners who love and serve the Lord, and vehemently oppose the closing of their church and their mission to serve the Lord Jesus, and the people they minister to, and bring to His live and saving Grace. I pray that Jesus the Lord intercedes to save St. Ann Church, and the faithful Catholics who serve Him fervently, and their brothers and sisters spiritual needs as well.
On the southwest side of Chicago, we had the National Shrine to St Anne. Now it is still the Shine to St Anne, but has been renamed Our Lady of Fatima, which makes no sense. The story goes, that when Pope John, the Polish Pope came to Chicago, he had it changed because of his deep devotion to the Virgin Mary. People are still angry with this decision. Also, every July, people come to celebrate from all over the country, the feast of St. Anne, and have masses and novena said. Very sad
What’s going to happen to the historic building now? It’s such a part of that community and beautiful to drive past. Who’s going to maintain the historic landmark now? Or will it be permitted to just sit and rot? The Catholic Church doesn’t deserve its parishioners or the premises. This was a decision made after the Church was forced to face some small consequences for all the years of child abuse they knowingly covered up. To fund the paltry compensation that’s going to the survivors. But none of that’s not the fault of these parishioners! It’s disgusting a church with the immense wealth of Catholicism would buckle and dime their own faithful parishioners, on top of the survivors of their decades and decades of covered-up child abuse.

When the neighborhood changes, it is time for it to close.
Or repurpose itself to serve those who now live in the neighborhood, so that they will start attending.
I’m so sorry
It is very very sad but if only a handful of people are going there , who is going to pay to keep the church open?
What is needed to save this Church. It is so Beautiful. Places like this are never to be closed but only to be treasured by all.
Lord Jesus, we surrender St. Ann Cathedral to You ,take of everything. Amen 🙏🏻 ♥️🙏🏻📿📿📿📿📿📿
Our Prayers for St Ann Catholic Church to continue to remain open. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So sad for these brothers and sisters loosing their church. God bless them.
There are lot of Catholic Churches in Pennsylvania. Some have sold to repurposed. And some have abandoned and razed too. Too big and attendance too small and utility bill is too high. Go find a smaller church.
What a shame Save St Ann's Church!! Lord Jesus please Help St Ann's Church!
It’s really very simple. If they are not taking in enough money and have enough people coming then the people who were served by the church moved. They closed the church and every other church years ago. You may say the community is poor but the churches were build by the poor, poor immigrants in most cases, the Catholic ones anyway. It will be interesting to see the next use of the building.
I will continue to keep you all in my prayer………
The church still serves a purpose and the church building should remain open. If it closes, where will the people go to get continued community service?
A mile down the road at another Catholic Church it said
@@beefstew4698 I drive nearly an hour to my church.
That's great news. All cults should be closed.
Are you aware that you are in the cult of atheism?
I hope it stays open.
Now we can get all the other churches to close. If we can get all the people to get their blinders off. If we can get people to start thinking instead of praying. It'll be really nice but unfortunately I don't foresee that happening for a long long time
Yeah, because secularism is working out so well for the world right now, isn't it?
Take off your own blinkers and have a look around. There's a storm coming.
Now they can use internet, wifi, zoom, etc. Technology is important to promote the " gospel "
Praying for the church
Same old story, they ignore the faithful and sell their souls for money. Disgusting.
It's not money; it is a lack of priests!
@@demtronIt’s the money! The church is nothing more than a business. And that story this has nothing to do with the bankruptcy proceeding is a crock of BS! The church is suffering because they refuse to change. Unfortunately they will be the ones left in the dust down the road.
@@demtronlack of attendance
It takes a lot of money to support a Church that size, utilities, maintenance, etc., especially at it's
age.
Wonder what there collections bring in each week?
@@drakec.9327 Correct. A church that size and age requires a minimum of $20k per week to break even. Guarantee that isn't close to the weekly donations. It's truly a shame
I don’t know much about the church but I know when I picture Baltimore, the material that that building is made out of is one the things I picture. I already know that so very good and much needed work throughout the city and hope they stay open in these trying times
Our God loves ALL his children.
Will pray for all of you wonderful people and all you do.❤
Saint Ann, please pray for intercession and all affected by this happening.
Amen Glory to God in the Highest level of Love forever. ❤❤❤
"He is Risen" Alleluia Alleluia Glory to God in the Highest.💖😘😁🙏
Amazing closing an active black church. Unforgivable
I do not pray for a catholic church but I will pray for you as the members of the church, those seeking God, I will pray for the community so God will open there eyes to help your church where possible, may God bless you all through this unknown journey
If you want to save your church get you sons to become priests.
That’s not the answer. Attendances and donations are down. Too expensive to maintain it.
Become priests of Novus Ordo? No thanks.
Get your Church Catholic.
Why do you say "G-d"? We aren't Jews, we can say "God."
Save St. Ann's Church! Pray God will keep this beacon of light open. The sailor who God saved built a lighthouse of faith, pray it will continue.
The people in the neighborhood need to come together and spend time with a parish who has served them for so long.
Seem exactly like the parish that shouldn’t be closed. Easy for me to say.
God bless these people. ❤
It's all about the collection amount from the church.
That’s so heart breaking! 💔- I hope it can be saved!
Was it sold off to settle CSA lawsuits against clergy?
So sad. Older churches are more expensive to maintain. It sounds like parishioners need to start drawing more Catholics to come to Mass and contribute to St. Ann's upkeep.
Why are they closing the CHURCHES
Whereas Traditional Rite is getting packed
Just a thought, perhaps the Pope should dip in to the deep pockets of the Vatican and give back to the people just a little of what they have taken. This I believe would be the Christian thing to do.
What makes you think the Vatican has secret vaults of money?
What happens when management has policies dating to the 1200s.
God’s policies are for ALL time.
On the southwest side of Chicago, we had the National Shrine to St
Anne. Now it is still the Shine to St
Anne, but has been renamed Our Lady of Fatima, which makes no sense. The story goes, that when Pope John, the Polish Pope came to Chicago, he had it changed because of his deep devotion to the Virgin Mary. People are still angry with this decision. Also, every July, people come to celebrate from all over the country, the feast of St. Anne, and have masses and novena said. Very sad
gee, more and more Churches are closing what to do what to do
The church will continue forever
Close the Archdiocese which has never looked our for the people. Keep the Church which has looked out for the people of God for 150 years..
more of those fruits of vatican-2
The other parish is only a mile away. I hope all the folks at St Ann's will make the transition.
Please do not close❤
Church parishioners need to donate their time and money to maintain the church. Nothing is free.
God blessed.
It’s horrible and disappointing to hear!! The Pope needs to stop this closure
I’m sorry 😢 It breaks my heart for you.
Should remove the Diocese Bishop for poor management and limited of his spending over budget. Call the young priests in volunteer to service parishioners at the low cost and also request the Diocese bishops to balance the spending themselves and share budget from richer parishes.
What will you do?
Apocalypse 21: 1-3
Read it and understand.
