Am I the only one thinking Ryu should be nerfed? Don't get me wrong, this Ryu player was AMAZING! Really the best Ryu player I've seen. But I'm just talking Ryu in general. I mean, he has pretty much areals without landing lag at all, with his Forward Air doing 15 damage and his Back Air doing friggin 16 damage...! He has the faster and weaker tilts that will both mix up his playstyle AND set up for combos and finishers, like his RIDICULOUSLY strong and fast Shoryuken that kills insanely early. He has recovery options covered well with his Up B that has a big hitbox and comes out fast, his Side B, AND his Focus Punch which will protect him from spikes or other edge guarding attacks (I mean, how many characters have multi-hit areals?). And finally, he has a projectile, too. What I mean is - he has so many AMAZING advantages (some being ridiculous, like his Shoryuken. Megaman has one too, but Ruy can set his up very easily in many ways). So, what are his cons?
projectile has shitty priority (you can stop it with a jab for goodness sake), average approach options, straight forward recovery, punishable specials and smash attacks and is also combo food (ironically)
***** ryu is really hard to master, and not everyone has the amount of time and/or dedication to the character we won't see a horde of ryus any time soon, not even if they nerf shiek for the nth time.
I love watching sets between masters of their character. Ryo makes Ike look incredible, and Trela is probably the most notable Ryu in the world today. Great match!
I main Ike and what these guy's don't get is that Ike is really eastside to combo with Ryu they were getting hyped and I was just watching like ok that's what happens
+Chrisevil Sheik is still better. People just haven't had enough Ryu experience to understand how to properly fight him as opposed to Sheik being a far more common match-up. Sheik's needles far outshine Ryu's Hadouken especially in neutral, she's faster, her combos are more flexible against small characters and has better positive and negative states than Ryu.

Crimea. Ike's from Crimea. His father, Gawain, was a very, very famous knight from Daein, who renounced his oath to the throne, along with his name, when he found out he would be having a child. So, Gawain left Daein for Gallia, where Ike would eventually be born. Here, he would adopt the name Greil to distance himself from his murderous past as a knight of Daein. After the birth of Ike, he would move once more, this time to Crimea. Greil then founded a small, benevolent mercenary group, that would serve as the only real family Ike would ever know. Greil didn't reveal his past as one of The Four Riders of Daein until Ike was much older. Ike is actually the only main character in all of Fire Emblem to not be of noble descent (Prince, King, Lord, etc). I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly like Ike.
First I heard EE say "I feel like Sheik is the one who sneaks in and steals the Triforce" and now he's saying "Ike's getting sent back to Hyrule." I've never played any Legend of Zelda games and even I know that's now how it works haha
+TrebelBass and RetroMan Make sure to space all your attacks to the tip of your sword. If you SH nair/fair/bair spaced well enough, it's safe on shield. Also, practice pivot grabbing. Ike's pivot grab is awesome. At low (aerials, then at mid percents upthrow->fair/upair.
Eh, the fact that Ryu does more damage than Ike will killing earlier with a whole backback of true combos, a projectile, on demand armor whilst still having a lot of range and better frame data... I'm not saying he doesn't take skill to play but he needs a nerf
Laughing at the people who thinks Ryu should get nerfed. Having The King of Fighters (wink wink, fighting game reference) nerfed is like asking Sakurai to give Little Mac good aerials or buff JigglyPuff's ground game. It's not iconic to his character when you nerf the best parts about Ryu.
Ike deserved that death at 0:52 he could have killed ryu by punishing him with that whiffed shoryuken at 0:48 if not a smash at least a forward tilt which is just as powerful cmon bruh he used none of Ike's tilts, No ledge punish with neutral B or up B when he tries to recover high? CMON BRUH!
don't think Ryu is broken, but it looks like a rough matchup for Ike. hadouken stuffs ikes approaches, and focus and uptilt seem to rek his aerials approaches. Ike can't play defensive either because the projectiles force him to approach. I'm not even sure how Ike would approach, you just have to play aggressive and try and rush Ryu down but Ike isn't the best at that. this looks like a 3-7 matchup in Ryu favour to me.
