***** Well I've seen gameplay and I thought hooded was the 2nd best ryu, now I know Venom is. His combo game is sick. Still not as good as trela though. Trela has the one and only nearly perfected Ryu. For starters his reaction and punish game is way ahead of venoms. His decision and fearlessness is also ahead of venom. And tbh his combo game is also the superior one. Venom is too agressive. dont get me wrong, i like agressive players, i just dont think its all that good to be 100% agressive as a ryu.
K after watching Venom, I'll have to separate my opinion. Venom is the better Ryu, but Trela is a better player. This makes him utilize Ryu better. Like how Void or Mr. R may have the best Sheik's but ZeRo is a better player.
trela uses all of ryu moves, something even venom doesn't do. So i dont know what makes you say venom is the better ryu

Trela improved a lot over the last couple months. If his Ryu was good before, then it's terrifying now. He clearly put a lot of time into this. Props to the man

It's funny how people (before Bayonetta and Ryu) say that Sheik is the top tier class, yet Trela has *never* had a problem with this MU at all. Now with the Sheik nerfs, it is even a more pain in the ass for Sheik to deal with Ryu.

Not anyone can just camp a good Ryu. Ryu needs very few openings to close out a stock. So in theory, yes, Ryu is outcamped by all the characters you stated but we don't live in one. so it's definitely not irrational to say Ryu goes 50 / 50 with sheik.
you can beat alot of characters by camping though that's why Rosa and sheik are too tier

He is, he has a lot of mobility and problems with being outcamped, along with a Bad Mu spread
+EJJTheMiner That isn't true at all. Ryu doesn't have that bad of a match up spread. His mobility is covered by FADC. Camping isn't really that big a problem for Ryu. It's all about the mindset. Ryu goes even or had an advantage in most of his matchup. It the fact that he is literally the hardest character in the game to learn that people say he is overrated.
Ryu loses to Sheik, Diddy, Pikachu, Sonic, Bayonetta, as well as others. FADC is very exploitable, and camping is a very big problem for Ryu. Plus, he isn't the hardest to learn, Peach probably is.
EJJTheMiner Ryu doesn't lose to shiek. That matchup is now even. He definitely doesn't lose to bayonetta since he can FADC out of after burner kick. He dosen't lose to pikachu either. When Ryu plays a pikachu, yeah it a little harder to combo but it's not a bad matchup. He dosen't lose to sonic either since his aerials and projectiles cancel spindash. Only Hooded said that diddy kong is a bad matchup. Trela doesn't agree with that statement. I always hear this "camping" thing with ryu. But that really can be applied for any character. Ryu also is the hardest character to learn because you actually have to plan combos out. Peach has combos that are hard, no doubt. Not as complicated as ryu though.
