I wasn't going to attempt this but your video made it look so simple and easy and it was. I called the dealer and their price was $387 for part and instillation. After watching your video I ordered the part, which cost less than $80 and did the instillation myself. It was easy and only took about 45 minutes from start to finish! Thank you for saving me some money....

Wow! This was a life saver! My window failed today and stopped by dealer to find out if there was an easy fix to get it up. They said no. So I asked how much it would cost to fix it. $450. Immediately went to parts department and found out part was $156.00. Bought a Chilton book on my way home and it left out vital information. My girlfriend looked up this video and we were on our way! Successfully replaced the regulator and window motor within 2 hours. Thanks so much!!!!

A month ago, a group of thugs broke into cars in my area. They tried to get into mines by forcing the window down but couldn't, but succeeded in destroying the regulator.
Thanks for the detailed video. I really helped me a great deal and I saved a lot money doing it on my own. I replaced the regulator within an hour (including driving to O Reilly's to pickup a new one).

YOU ROCK!!! I had an issue with my window regulator and went to the Ford dealer. $425 to repair it?!?! I looked it up on TH-cam and figured I'd give it a try. I'm not the most skilled at auto repair but the video was spot on and super easy to follow. I bought the parts online for $100 which was $70 cheaper than what the Ford dealer wanted. Video was awesome, issue fixed and it was EASY! Save some cash and do it yourself... You can, I did! If you're in Michigan, beers on me!
I replaced the rear window regulator on my 2005 F150 Super Crew. The procedure is the same. Also it was much easier to replace than I first thought. Your video was a great help. If a person has basic mechanical skills, there is no reason to pay someone to do this job.
Excellent video. Clear, easy instructions. You saved me serious time pointing out just loosening outer bolts (not removing) and to check it before installing the door panel. My 2004 was reverse polarity, after panicking testing it I found a reverse polarity plug in the box.
Second time I had to go back to this video for another door on my f150. Ordered from their site and paid half for the OEM part versus the dealer. Thanks again for this great video. I have two more windows on my supercrew and I am sure I will be back again!
I replaced the driver's side regulator and switch a couple of years ago. Pretty easy but I forgot what it involved. Thanks for the reminder and extra tips! Parts are now on the way for the passenger side. Despite these little hiccups, I still love my 2004 Ford F-150! It's been relatively problem-free since I purchased it new.

had the same problem on my f 150, the video helped me big time,, knocked it out in about an hour or so,, without this video it would have take much longer,,,, saved me some big dollars

You cover small details that NAPA fails to mention in their instructions, like the removal of the speaker offsets. I replaced the regulator instead of trying to repair it. Great instructions! +Ken Compton One thing to add....some replacement regulators do NOT come with the mounting screws, so be sure to save the old screws, just in case!
thank you for the clear instructions, I used this video and another one on repair of the problem to get a clear understanding. I repaired two today, front passenger and Rear driver for $.02 using two nails that I had already. That was what? $400+ in repairs for three hours and $.02 cents Thank you!
Thanks so much for doing this. This is something I’ve always dreaded to do. I put a new window motor in my 83 Camaro when I was a teenager and it was a nightmare. You made this look so easy I decided to go for it and it turned out to be no big deal. I didn’t order the part from you because I needed to get it replaced today. Just finished the job -big thanks for the video. Note, make sure you know if you have a 43 or 50 inch door before buying regulator. Likewise the polarity will be different so you have to rewire or purchase an adapter on the power connection on some F150's. Feels good not paying $400.

Great video. I had my window stuck in the down position, and couldn't reach the bolts that clamp window to regulator, so I had to take motor apart to raise window. Thanks again.

@traficante50 That sounds like it could be either the motor or the switch, the switch has a relay on the inside of it which could make a buzzing noise if it starts to fail. The easiest way to test it would be to pull the switch off and try operating the window while the switch is near your ear, you should be able to distinguish if the noise is coming from the switch or inside the door panel.

@kipp3r84 It's probably the regulator, the noise you describe is usually a regulator on it's last legs just trying to hang on. You will likely find some of the plastic parts of the regulator broken once you open up the door.

@iTzMeChucky When it gets stuck, do you hear the motor still continuing to run? I know the power window switches are common to fail in those trucks, and it will just randomly stop, if the switch is bad though, you won't hear the motor running when the window is stuck.
@airpilikia The wires going to the motor are reversed? if that's the case, someone on an assembly line was snoozing when putting that plug together, you can either cut them and resplice them, or pull the pins of out the pigtail (there is usually a little catch tab to pry up on to release the pin) and switch their positions in the pigtail itself.

If you have creaking or squeaking F150 regulators use 3M red synthetic grease on the cables and pulleys. I greased mine 5 or 6 years ago and they've been fine since.

Do you have a video for the rear door on the f-150 super crew? I have replaced the front already and someone said the rear was different.
We do not yet have a video on the rears, the rears are slightly different, but the same basic procedures can be followed. (Find hidden bolts, remove door panel, remove regulator). We hope to have a video for a rear door eventually. Thanks

A suction cup is handy to hold the glass up. (I like using a dual suction cup with a handle)

Just to make sure that this would be the piece that needs to be replaced in my car, my passenger side window rolls down just fine but won't go up using either switch on the passenger or driver side. Should I be thinking something else in the problem or buy this piece and install it?

@APDTY Hey man I have a question, I have an 04' F-150 Super Crew, My driver window goes up and down, but every once in a while it will get stuck for a second and the catch back up with the motor, is the track loose? or what might be the problem.

Struggling with one of the plastic pieces behind the speaker. I wish you had said what socket you used. Also, I have a giant blood blister on my dominant thumb, so, probably restricted by that.

Is it likely that replacing JUST the regulator will do the job? I see you can buy a regulator or a regulator/motor kit.
I have an 07 f150 suprecrew,my front driver side window won't go up or down a few days back it started making a small buzzing noise when going up or down,you think it's the motor gone bad.
The book time on this regulator calls for 1 hour of Labor, So it would depend on what your local labor rate is. If it's $100 per hour of labor, that would be $100 plus the part cost.
I am not sure of the exact procedure for the rear doors, but if you follow the basic template that we used in this video you should be fine. Just note that the location of the screws/bolts may have changed, other than that it should be nearly identical.
ill be doing this on the weekend, my window makes a horrible screaching noise and not sure if its the motor or the regulator, it still moves up and down. any ideas?
@jDuBs8o The regulator itself is usually what breaks, but because of 'ole Murphy and his law, you may as well replace both while you are in there.
Great video! I have a question though. My 2004 driver side went down. I can hear the motor working fine. I know that some broken plastic parts are the culprit as my passenger side broke down last year. Can I repair those parts with strong epoxy glue, or will the stress of it going up and down (which isn't often in my case) cause it to break again sooner? I'm just trying to save the $300 it cost me last time. Thanks.
It may be possible to epoxy it, but we have never attempted that as that is usually a very short term fix.

how much would this cost me to have done at the dealership? any idea? just a rough guess would be awesome
I tried this with my 2004 F-150 supercab driver's side window and the Dorman replacement has a different power plug for the motor so it won't work. The Dorman unit has a square plug and the factory regulator has a hole for a round plug to go into.

Is this considered a 2 door or 4 door?
Man this is bothering me, I ordered two regulators from different websites (one after another) and the left side of the assembly never lined up with the door panel holes. The left post is actually too long. Also the cord is too short!! No idea what my options are. I'm not taking it to a stealership, I might take my doors off and have a f150 Rubicon 😂
