  • It is great that this location was able to keep some of the set design from the Lord of the Rings film set for the hobbits. The scenery is beautiful and many of the hobbit holes have been preserved. You get to see the party tree and field and you can also visualize where the market, bridge, and pathways were. I would recommend watching the movie both before and after going here.I had a really awesome experience with my family over there.

Water doesn't bend over a ball. Therefore, it is a plane. No one has ever been able to see or measure curvature, and modern cameras further prove this.

Nice tourist trap. Very picturesque. But imho, everyone walking around in modern clothing sort of ruins the immersion. And other than the Green Dragon tavern and restaurant, all the hobbit houses are just facades...a small space behind each door for people to stand, peeking around the door for a photo opportunity.
Better to rent quazi-period clothing to the tourists, and have each hobbit house fully dug out and furnished, rent them out as bnb's. And don't do square rooms either. Watch the movies and re-create the rounded ceilings and wood bracing, built-in cabinets and fireplaces. I cringe every time i click on a 'hobbit house' build video, knowing i'll see a square-roomed cabin with a round front door.
