I've been there too! It was raining when we went.I had the same problem you did - I was always the last one to move and had to hurry to catch up to my group. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but it's really amazing. Everything looks so real when you are there. They take really good care of the attraction I think.
My husband and I went to Hobbiton In 2008. We loved it!! It looks like they have made it like Hobbits still live in them now. We were there after they had torn down the vegetation and decorations from filming the Lord of The Rings. Lovely country. Very friendly people.
So, this is like the real set that they used for the movie?! And anyone can visit it!?! I literally flipped out when I saw this! You guys are so lucky to have visited there. I wish I could live in a place like that!

My 10 year goal is to visit hobitton. Lifetime goal is to build a livable real life hobbithole. At that point i can say my life is complete.
Hobbiton was the best part of my NZ trip! The green dragon was AMAZING
