A Buxtehude toccata and two butterflies herald the first video with 30,000 subscribers to Ben’s channel. Ben has leapt from zero to hero in the cause of friendless churches, captivating the hearts and minds of people everywhere with music and poetry, now further supported by Ray’s harmonium and a drone.

    The poem
"High Flight by John Gillespie Magee" was written by an American pilot who joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and after training, came to England to fight in WW2.
3 months after writing the poem and sending it home to his parents, he was killed in a flying collision over Lincolnshire in 1941 and he is buried in Scopwick church.
    He was 19yo.
I know most people will probably know this, so this is just in case. More info on Wiki if you are interested.

I thought the same thing from the very first video. A BBC special aired in America on our PBS network. Sister Wendy brought a new appreciation for art, Lucy Wolsey the backrooms and secrets of old British castles and now Ben is allowing the world to see the marvel of old village churches and their pipe organs. Good job Ben!!!

I liked all the handmade kneelers in this church. They give colour and a feeling that many cared and care for this church. And of course music is an indispensable part of care and worship in a church.

Consider the "surly bonds of earth" slipped -- in the loveliest way. Thank you, Ben.
Not long ago a friend of mine speculated that the centuries-old ideal of the Renaissance Man was no longer achievable in the 21st century. There was just too much to know at this point for the human brain to take in.
Your accomplishment here might argue against that. Cameraman, researcher, narrator, organist, historian, composer, driver, and cheese and pickle chef...I'm sure I've missed a few.
Beautiful drone footage (yes, I confess, I'm now a believer...baptise me in the Avon on the next warm day, please) combined with perfect church interiors, poetry that ranged from poignant to whimsical, butterflies and even original music, compliments of Ben Maton.
It feels as though handsful of pearls, sapphires and emeralds have been poured into my hands this Sunday evening. Only better. Much gratitude.

Isten új felfedező utakat nyit neg előttünk, rajtunk múlik melyík utat válasszuk, melyík úton lépkedjünk tovább... Ben a legszebb utat választotta, Isten házába vezetett minket, ahol béke és nyugalom tölti be a belső teret. Ben a költő szavait, ezen szent helyen adta elő, megnyerő hangjával, előadásával. Szent Mihály arkangyal, és az összes szentek védelmezzenek minket, minden időben, és pillanatban! Köszönöm, hogy láthattam az angol táj üde zöld szépségét, a tiszta kék égboltot ! A pacsirtát magasan szállni..! Milyen szép az angol falu utcája az ősi falakkal, és a gyönyörű templomaival. Szép a videó borítóképe, ugyanúgy a szerdai videóé is! /Amint lehetőségem lesz, igyekszem támogatni nemes munkádat/Thank You!

I fell in love with "Morning Has Broken" when I was a young teen, and heard it on my friend's L.P. I always thought it was Cat Steven's own song, so imagine my surprise "discovering " it in our Presbyterian hymnal. I still sing it to myself, these 55+ years later.
      "Praise with elation,

      God's recreation
      Of the first day!"

Hello from Australia. My 2x great grandfather was baptised in 1808 in the Little Bedwyn church, married in Figheldlean and lived with his family in Enford. Convicted of machine breaking during the Swing Riots in Enford in 1830. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) for 7 years with no hope of returning to his destitute family. These 3 churches played a role in my ancestors lives. Thank you for featuring the wonderful ancient churches and surrounding countryside in Wiltshire. Also for the wonderful music.

As @accession3096 noted, the poem “High Flight” is beloved by RAF and USAF pilots, including my late father, a decorated pilot in three wars. The poem is memorialized in a large display at the Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton, Ohio, USA, and fittingly is recited at many pilot funerals. It is wonderful, Ben, that you have set it to music. May God speed your special work that gives solace in our troubled world. On behalf of pilots, birds, and drones everywhere, thank you. ❤

A humble request, if I may… If possible, when including original music in your videos, I’d love a link in the description to a page where I can buy a copy of the score. The piece at the end of this video would be divine during communion at my church, or for me to play for myself on a placid rainy day. I’m especially interested in your works for reed organ. We need more newly composed reed organ music. It’s such a beautiful sound, so vocal, and it breaks my heart to see them neglected and unplayed. Contemporary repertoire would help breathe new life into the instruments. Thank you, as always, for your inspiring work.

Hi Ben. Yet another lovely visit to a beautiful Church, and your excellent talent with the Organ. You now make these videos even better with the addition of drone footage. What a fantastic invention they are - they put a totally different perspective on the beautiful country we live in. Thanks Ben for taking us on your adventures with you. Take care 🙂

I remember the poem "High Flight," written by a RAF pilot during the Battle of Britain, I believe; a thousand years ago, sometime in the late 20th century, before we had 24-hour television service, our ABC network would sign off at midnight, like the other networks there was a short, sign off bit, this was the poem "High Flight," read by an Air Force pilot, background showing a fighter jet flying into the sunset. (Sorry for being so long-winded.) Totally awesome and beautiful shots of the countryside, nice little toy you've got there, Ben. As always a good show, keep on living the good and inspiring life dude!

Brilliant Ben, amazing drone footage, a good investment.
Thank you for all that you do.
    PS
Where is that powerful intro piece which you normally play? There’s nothing like a bit of power, it wakes people up, they pay attention.

Thank you , Ben, for this pleasant end to my Sunday. I'm a big fan of Early Music and Buxtehude in particular. Many years ago, I played in a Recorder Consort and Buxtehude was a part of our repertoire, along with JSB. Nice to hear 'Morning Has Broken' again. Regrettably, these days, it only ever seems to get played at Funerals. Thanks for the poetry and the final tune on the Portable Organ. It's starting to sound better, now that it's being played again. Russ. Havant.

“High flight” poem, a favourite, thank you. The drone has added to the video footage so well. Doubt I will ever understand how long it takes to produce this footage, but please know that it is much appreciated. Hope Billy is well, not seen him for a time. Have a good week.

Another beautiful edition... You are doing England and us all a great service, Ben in a quiet, simple way - making essays, like windows for us all to enjoy passing through ... something akin to what old John Betjeman did way back in the B+W epoch (but of course your programs are very different, too).
Betjeman wasn't the first to liken churches to boats we enter into and are transported to another realm in time...
May God Bless you on your path.
By the way the haunting composition you played by way of a backdrop to that magnificent poem by John Gillespie Magee Jr was suitably uplifting ... You created a sense of joy tinged with melancholy and nostalgia - and the drone footage tied the two together ...
    Bravo!
Excellent viewing that deserves some donations - and I SHALL make mine as soon as I possibly can.
And it won't be an old out of circulation crooked Peso, I swear! (OR an Irish sixpence as the measly Larkin wrote in his Church Going poem, I think!).
Cheers from your couple of fans down here in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Butterflies, Buxtehude, a bunny and Ben; what an utterly delightful window into your world, Ben!! One point; I'm not an organist, but, please, continue to show and describe the stops on the organs you play, even if for you it's a bit boring, for us it adds a wonderful dimension to the whole "Ben" experience! Once again, here in Australia on a cold winter Monday morning, your video warms the soul.

I have High Flight posted on my fridge; it was a copy my mother had for years. I read it through every day or so, and love it. My dad was in the RCAF, and I suppose that to be the connection. Whatever, it is still one of my favourite poems.
