Perfectly said. That was brutal but any big hockey fan owes it to the players who give up 2/3 of their year for us to watch them. They are people, too, and he was a wonderful person. I hope his family finds peace and cherishes the loving memories they do have with them forever even though they may not be present.

Yeah he isn't just in grief, he is exhausted...
Likely don't get much natural sleep.
And in many videos he has looked like he is medicated heavily, as there aren't emotions to read in his eyes.
      I am concerned tbh

This is heart breaking. It's devastating seeing these young men in interviews, knowing that Johnny and his brother are both dead because of a suspected drunk driver. This is a wonderful tribute to Johnny and his brother Matthew. But its so sad and feels horrible that they are now gone, and their wives and families are left shattered by their loss. My condolences and love go to all involved.

I cried when I first watched this and had to come here to comment. I still can’t believe he’s gone, it doesn’t feel real.
It’s just so sad to see him gone, he was such a respected player. I watched him live many times for the flames and already loved to see him score or assist, he always played his heart out.
I have so much hate for the drunk bastard that took Johnny and Matt away from the world and their families.
I cried watching that flag be raised, and seeing the players and family get emotional, he’s now immortalized in that arena and he deserves it, he was a great player loved by all.
And don’t forget Matt, he may not have been famous but he’s still an innocent soul who’s greatly missed by his friends and family.
RIP to both these men, I’m not religious but I genuinely hope with all my heart that they’re in a better place waiting to be reunited with their family one day. Always be sure to appreciate your friends and family, you never know when will be the last time you see them.

It's bittersweet how Calgary & Columbus (as well as Boston & Philly) will forever be intertwined by this tragedy. I don't know about Columbus but I feel like most Calgarians, including myself, are rooting for Columbus this year, and I think it goes without saying that the hockey world is rooting for Monahan in particular, too.

  • @ryanbencze
    @ryanbencze 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Man just so devastating. His dad looks really heartbroken (rightfully so) but I hope he finds some closure soon. Not a fun way to live being heartbroken from grieve. So so sad. I hope the gaudreaus were able to enjoy this moment and keep it with them as a show of the kids they raised and how he changed the game for undersized players. Johnny will be a pioneer in hockey legacy as one of the first players in the salary cap era who was a star despite being small. Johnny I hope that 13 sits in the saddledome sooner rather than later and I hope you are smiling knowing the impact you had on not just the game of hockey but the people who watched you, loved you, and were the closest to you.
How fitting that monahan won the draw to Bennett who passed it to you.

Lives taken way too soon, but if there's one thing Johnny can say, it's that he proved everything he could in his time here. May your families find peace and your legacies live on forever. RIP Gaudreau Brothers

Hockey is a family. Players, coaches, other staff, and yes, even us fans.
Regardless of whose colors we wear, at our core, we still care about the rest of the family.
In college hockey, you can always tell who will be in the NHL in short order. But there are those who are even beyond those, and when you see them on the ice, You Knew. When Johnny was in Hockey East, I couldn't wait for him to get to the NHL just so he'd stop lighting up my team every time we played BC.
