    I can definitely tell that FXX did a great job as an Animation Domination network with those ratings, and that the surge might be likely on those Family Guy reruns which ever since FG left Adult Swim from the Disney/FOX buyout, the late night block hasn't had high ratings that much ever since.
    CN despite affected by the WBD merger did a pretty good job last year with their blocks like the success that is Cartoonito and managing to celebrate it's 30th anniversary with classics.
    With the current scheduling problem on Nickelodeon, the overairings of films seemed to have given it pretty decent ratings but as for TeenNick, I am just surprised that it had a little bit of success despite losing NickRewind and overairing Henry Danger.
    Nick At Nite really needs to be put out of it's misery as it's only focus is just reruns of Friends now.
    And yeah, G4 being the lowest rated network is honestly not that shocking given that it's doomed to start despite having potential but that potential just went kaput, especially with the problems on who ran the network during the revival.

      They don't need Nick At Night when you got channels like Me TV, Cozi, Antenna TV, Laff and Get TV on digital sub channels over the air. Also they have used TV Land to show a lot of programming like that.

    I've been told in the past that Xfinity dropping Cartoon Network in the past year or so didn't help its viewership situation. Still surprised it usurped Disney Channel.
    Also, I assume you implied that you've been checking out Nielsen's streaming numbers section too? That and Netflix's own viewership hours website tends to be a go-to site.

    Wow! This is very surprising. Of course, Nick at Nite and Nickelodeon both received the same amount of ratings (more or less) last year. I wonder how well they will do in 2023. Also, are you familiar with the TV network Buzzr? It has a lot of game shows (just like the Game Show Network), but the game shows are classics. Why isn't that on the ratings list? I'm confused.

    Why does Disney Channel have less viewers? At least they make new shows. CN is pretty much a ghost town if you don't count We Baby Bears and Cartoonito.

      It came as a big surprise to me too! I've been really getting back into some of Disney Channel's shows as of late, and it's so strange that it slid behind Cartoon Network in 2022. That said, it was only slightly, so perhaps it'll return to second place in 2023.

    If I had to be honest, it's strange to see Ion, a network that airs the same shows for 14 hours a day managing to get a higher rating than The CW (a major broadcast network). Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised to see MyNetworkTV overtake The CW despite MyNet's status as a syndication service.

    • @Code7Unltd
      @Code7Unltd ปีที่แล้ว

      If you looked at Variety's Nielsen report for 2022 and saw Ion's lineup, it becomes apparent why they're rating well.
      Crime is doing really well on TV (with Reelz pulling in a 107% jump following the addition of "Live PD" successor "On Patrol: Live") and Ion's lineup is nothing but reruns of CBS crime shows. At least Ion would program a movie on occasion when they were independent, under Scripps however, they're heavy on crime dramas.
      I suspect it had to do with people being nostalgic for cop shows following 2020's colour revolution leading to the format's end for 2 straight years.

    It's a miracle Cartoon Network survive last year like this. It would be interesting what will be change in the next few years, with so many streaming which are together cost too much. While cable have all big company channels for 1 streaming price, it is cheaper paying for cable or only one streaming and pirate everything else. Streaming is better, but have it's own problems which makes the future of entertainment interesting.

      Cartoon Network’s schedule has massively improved in the last few years. Teen Titans Go is no longer the most played show (now it is The Amazing World of Gumball) and Regular Show is back on the schedule!

    Looks like the end of cable is almost nigh. I prefer it to streaming so I'm gonna miss it. I don't like having to pick on streaming. I just like being able too flick on the TV and watch. Occasionally you find a show you really like and make sure to make it appointment viewing. I feel like not forcing people at a certain time to watch on streaming is going to make it so shows are not as popular or urgent to be seen, which sucks. It's not the same experience anymore and I don't think I really like it too much.

    • @Code7Unltd

      Thinking about it myself almost frequently, linear streams are one solid answer to the problem of choice paralysis that so many VoD outlets have. It's unfortunate that the only people in this arena seem to be Cinedigm, Filmrise, Xumo and Sony Pictures (with Game Show Central and the CineVault family).

      Later this year, my cable and internet provider is getting rid of normal cable TV, and will switch to streaming. It will function just like cable TV, where you can watch live TV. Instead of a DVR, you can record and save programs to a cloud. While I prefer conventional cable with a DVR, I can live with this. I, too, would hate to see cable go away. I did the math, and it costs me far less to pay for cable than to subscribe to multiple streaming services.

    • @Code7Unltd
      @Code7Unltd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hamsterama Hoist up an antenna (and maybe add on a DVR, if you need to locally record things) and you're set.
      IoT-based TV streamers aren't good with the locals, never mind that they're only there out of either contractual obligation or because the largest customer base (baby boomers) would complain if they weren't there.

    • @hamsterama

      @@Code7Unltd Well, to tell the truth, I don't watch much on the local channels. Most of what I watch is cable, so I don't want to give it up! I suspect that all cable companies will eventually switch to streaming cable. That way, they can solely become an internet provider. By the way, I live in a city where there is competition. We have three cable/internet companies here (Spectrum, Breezeline, and AT&T). So, that's why cable costs far less for me than subscribing to multiple streaming services (Netflix, Discovery+, Disney+, Paramount, etc.). Competition keeps the price down.

      >I don't watch much on the local channels.
      Honestly, I tend to stick with the locally available multicasters (you know... Your MeTVs, Comet, Grit, Laff) myself.
      That's one of two value-adds for antennas, with the other one being access to local low-power broadcasts since cable isn't known to carry them, never mind most virtual Pay-TV providers neglecting your local MyNetworkTV.
      And that's before factoring in reliability of your internet connection (I remember two going down for a short while due to high demand during virtual Pay-TV's infancy).

    I think the main reason why channels like Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon have tanked in viewer ratings is probably due to the fact that NOBODY WANTS TO PAY FOR CABLE! MYSELF INCLUDED! Also, the schedule changes for Cartoon Network is redundant because like you said, the midday to early night hours are busy for children due to extracurricular programs and homework.

    I think Disney's biggest go to the tweencom just isn't as successful as it used to be. You got Tiktok and other social media which have taken their viewership and role in finding new stars. The genre was on the decline for years since it's peak in the mid 2000s.
