I know this is a seriously late addition in the comments... but, I never cared for the shoulder or waist straps. I use an eberlestock pack for hunting and needed to replace a broken buckle, I looked at their website and found they also sell their waist and shoulder straps separately. I bought them and with minimal effort, they fit my gen2 great and are far more comfortable for me. The price is better then the used replacement parts on ebay and for me are far more comfortable

Damn, that's a gen 1 ilbe. Those are pretty damn rare. Usually all you see is the gen2.

    Thanx for the hack.
Just picked one up. Load lifters seamed off to me. Good fix.

Hi, yes so the low lifter was to make the pack more stable if a soldier had to run with a load. But for civilian use its not comfortable especially if you're 6ft or more. there just wasn't any way to shift the load from your shoulders, having that extra adjustment means more comfort per mile. Its a great sturdy pack for what I paid for it. and kinda cool looking...lol

lol, I love this bag. With respect to the load lifters. I had alittle over 100lbs in mine when I first got it and the lower stitching actually ripped off carrying the weight accomplishing what you are saying. Funny.

This is MarPat woodland not Multicam. The Gen 2 pack weighs 12lbs. Remember this pack was designed for those wearing a Loadout so those straps are designed to fit over a plate carrier.

Nice video! How much did you pay for it on ebay? First generation of ILBE has black padding and it look so sick!
Talking about the bar tack on the load lifters, it should be removed. I think it must. The military decided to put the bar tack on it for some reason but it should be removed! After that it can give you nice load lifter angle. I did modify pretty much a lot to my ILBE main packs. I got 2 of em cause like it so much :)

So I did some research on why they did the bar tack, It was to make the pack more stable while running with a heavy load, but sacrificing some comfort. Using the pack for civilian purposes, its my opinion after now multiple outings, it functions with more comfort if its modified. I payed 90.00 shipped, it was complete with no missing straps. I really enjoy it now as it has become a functional piece of equipment for me. Thanks for the comment. Enjoy!

@@ramsheaths Glad you made the right choice. You cant find this deal anywhere with this comfort of conventional alpine style backpacking pack with mil spec durability. I paid $500 for Eberlestock V90 Battleship. Mystery Ranch is way beyond my budget. I paid about $300 for ILBE main pack and hydration carrier, brand spanking new ones, and about $90 for a used one. I did modify some of the features of the pack for my liking and torso length. You don't have to spend $1000 for a pack like Mystery Ranch if you can do some work on your own :-)

@@ramsheaths and thank you for the info behind the bar tacking on the load lifters. Now they are using FILBE-modernised ALICE pack. I got FILBE main pack and the assault pack. The assault pack is great. The main pack is not bad. It has a lot of great features of Mystery Ranch. But due to the frame, its not really meant to carry heavy loads comfortably like ILBE. I can load up my ILBE upto 35 kg. I would die if I do that with FILBE LOL

So I did some research on why the attachment was so low, It was to make the pack more stable while running with a heavy load while sacrificing some comfort. But for civilian use ie backpacking, It improves comfort when its modified. That's my opinion based on my testing. After several outings I see an improvement in comfort with an average load of 40 pounds or so. I paid 90 shipped and complete, no missing anything. I really enjoying this pack now. Thanks for the comment, and enjoy!
