Brilliant 😀 I've been a mechanic for 20yrs and my thoughts on this video are brilliant! Perfect checks and advice for someone to carry out at home not just before a long journey but regular way. Although before long trips I'd also recommend taking your vehicles to a workshop for a heath check (most garages don't charge for this) as safety critical parts like brakes, steering and suspension components should also be checked. 😊

For what it's worth check the coolant level when hot, should be on the max line only then. If possible check the oil when cold on a flat surface, should be on the max line. And check the tyre pressures before driving when cold as the internal air expands with driving as it warms up and exaggerates the reading. Also check the power steering fluid level if so equipped. Given that some people's (that are furloughed or working from home) cars wont have moved for a while, it is a good idea to check this stuff when they start driving them again. Take care hope you are staying well.
I'm literally the worst person for this! Regularly drive from London to Manchester and just chance it :/ So this kind of content is amazingly helpful haha! And you explain it in a way which is super understandable
Yay, thank you for the feedback :-) I'm the same, my lack of understanding led me to chance it all the time but these checks are pretty simple and you don't need any crazy understanding of cars to add that extra safety assurance :-)

Remember to check the pressure on the spare tire and even put a few extra pounds in it, it will lose some in time.
