I found a rock in my beans not long ago. They were the cheapest beans I could get though.
I rally like these cheap canned charro beans from dollar general and literally bit a rock once... I still buy them but eat carefully haha
When they’re dark that means they’re older beans.
I'm guessing the color differences relate to various varieties of bean, not age.
We call it fat back in WNC.
