  • It's a harsh reality: women born in the 1950s have faced discrimination their entire lives. It's time for swift action and justice for these amazing, brave women! 🐝 #WaspiWomen #WASPI
    Reforms to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) highlighted by MS Society UK leave 2 out of 3 people with negative effects on their mental and physical
    health. The UK Government should take lessons from how Adult Disability Pay is administered in Scotland.
    It is apparent though that the Tories are just kicking the can down the road on this issue and many others in order to leave it in the laps of the incoming Government so they can blame them for their own failings.

    The Govt owes me £60.00 in back pension ... they say they we may get approx £1,500 in compensation ... they throw millions in every direction except to a group of women who have contributed and worked all their lives, raised children and looked after aged parents ... its an insult

    Women should retire at 60 and Men 65 as it has always been. No benefits at all should be paid to or for illegal migrants. We should not send Tax Payers money abroad - we have our own issues to resolve in our own Country.

    If we are equal and both have to retire at 66, we should also get same pension, shame on dwp, for dragging it out. While many of us die, while waiting

  • @lesleysidhoum1779

    It was an easy cash grab that has devastated the lives of many women If it was truly about equality both men and women should have been allowed to retire at 63 years of age at no loss to the exchequer.

    • @catch22again
      @catch22again หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      That would have been the most sensible thing to do to raise the women's age to say 63 and reduce the mens age down to 63. Instead they hiked the women's up 5 Years.........6 years. or is it age 68 now ?

    • @herrflick1244
      @herrflick1244 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @catch22again they keep moving the goalposts the nearer I get to pension age, which in the past I would have been retired a few years, getting to think I will be dead before I get it at this rate. What about the people who died before pension age. The money they paid in stolen by the government. My great uncle was 42, aunt was 46, grandmother and uncle 50 grandad 62. Friends have died ages between 34 and 63, other family members 55 and 63, male and female. If that's the ones I know I am sure many can tell a similar story. Multiply that the government has a nice nest egg aquirreled away.

    • @ruthwashbrook4759
      @ruthwashbrook4759 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @paythebabe1- unfortunately David Cameron used the austerity excuse on that point- he put all 1950s born women below the need to try to save money by deferring our state pension for 6 years. That is the same DC who wore a 'this is what a feminist looks like' T shirt.
      He MOST certainly is NOT a feminist he showed his sexist beliefs in doing this

    • @jayniebabe1
      @jayniebabe1 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@ruthwashbrook4759 yes, I am one of those women he abused. Not just by denying me my lifelong right to retire at 60 but at dinner one evening. He was our guest at a dinner and sat between my then husband and me. As a man came to sit next to me on the opposite side from where he was sitting, he put his hand out to shake his hand and nearly knocked my drink out of my hand! He took no notice, didn't apologise and carried on grilling me for points to use in his speech about my then husband! Oh yes, I know all about him being a feminist... Not!

    What a brilliant man somebody understands our frustration I paid full stamp for 43 years. exactly the same as a man not married woman’s stamp. We also looked after elderly parents and grandparents. Shortly followed by collecting children from school and babysitting to allow a younger people to work to pay their mortgage. When did the government pay us for all these unpaid jobs, they owe us thousands of pounds in saved care costs. This is mean and cruel and to interpret the findings as you have to prove you have suffered financial hardship because of the change in rules especially those born June 53 and that’s because if you were born in dec 52 you waited an extra year if you were born six months later you had to wait 4.5 years this is not an Inca mental rise this leap in years waiting cost me 25k

    If men had to walk in 1950's womens footsteps. This would have been sorted. The injustice of low pay and juggling family care. For children and elderly parents.

    Well said, this should never have been allowed to happen, we was taken on with the expectation of woman can access their state pension at 60 and men at 65, now the goalposts have been moved to 67 for both for our age group (1961) this can’t be right changing a contract to suite the government whenever they please.
    The retirement age for drawing state pension should be 60 for woman and 65 for men as it always was and compensation for anyone who has had to wait the additional 7 or 2 years should be paid immediately

    Love you Chris..I was born in 1955, and my life has been one long round of caring for my mother, my husband's mother, my own children and then when they were old enough that I could at least go back to work, my husband fell ill with a brain tumour, and I cared for him for the next 15 years until he died. When that happened I was in my 50s by then, and I was too old to work.. Employers wouldn't employ me, as I had been out of the workplace for so long and because now my own health had gone downhill,as a result of all the caring I did over the decades. Then when it came to retire I was suddenly told I would have to remain on the pittance of income support for another 6 years..! The State Pension would have been more despite me not having worked most of my life..But hang on...! I did work, just a different type of work...Unpaid, no less..I saved the country thousands of pounds by looking after all these relatives and my reward...? Another 6 years of poverty. But the time I did receive my pension, I was too old and ill to enjoy it..😢

    Don’t forget .. being able to contribute to a workplace pension wasn’t law for women up until their 40’s in some cases.
    Women who had children weren’t entitled to their NI stamp being automatically paid until 1977
