Love you Chris..I was born in 1955, and my life has been one long round of caring for my mother, my husband's mother, my own children and then when they were old enough that I could at least go back to work, my husband fell ill with a brain tumour, and I cared for him for the next 15 years until he died. When that happened I was in my 50s by then, and I was too old to work.. Employers wouldn't employ me, as I had been out of the workplace for so long and because now my own health had gone downhill,as a result of all the caring I did over the decades. Then when it came to retire I was suddenly told I would have to remain on the pittance of income support for another 6 years..! The State Pension would have been more despite me not having worked most of my life..But hang on...! I did work, just a different type of work...Unpaid, no less..I saved the country thousands of pounds by looking after all these relatives and my reward...? Another 6 years of poverty. But the time I did receive my pension, I was too old and ill to enjoy it..😢

What a brilliant man somebody understands our frustration I paid full stamp for 43 years. exactly the same as a man not married woman’s stamp. We also looked after elderly parents and grandparents. Shortly followed by collecting children from school and babysitting to allow a younger people to work to pay their mortgage. When did the government pay us for all these unpaid jobs, they owe us thousands of pounds in saved care costs. This is mean and cruel and to interpret the findings as you have to prove you have suffered financial hardship because of the change in rules especially those born June 53 and that’s because if you were born in dec 52 you waited an extra year if you were born six months later you had to wait 4.5 years this is not an Inca mental rise this leap in years waiting cost me 25k

Well said, this should never have been allowed to happen, we was taken on with the expectation of woman can access their state pension at 60 and men at 65, now the goalposts have been moved to 67 for both for our age group (1961) this can’t be right changing a contract to suite the government whenever they please. The retirement age for drawing state pension should be 60 for woman and 65 for men as it always was and compensation for anyone who has had to wait the additional 7 or 2 years should be paid immediately

@catch22again they keep moving the goalposts the nearer I get to pension age, which in the past I would have been retired a few years, getting to think I will be dead before I get it at this rate. What about the people who died before pension age. The money they paid in stolen by the government. My great uncle was 42, aunt was 46, grandmother and uncle 50 grandad 62. Friends have died ages between 34 and 63, other family members 55 and 63, male and female. If that's the ones I know I am sure many can tell a similar story. Multiply that the government has a nice nest egg aquirreled away.

Other women I worked with were also aware of the increase in their pension age increase as some came under the phased in age increas. It must also be taken into account that they may not be entitled to a full state pension. The people who really missed out are those men and women who are on the old state pension which is lower even though they paid in for many years
