This entire trilogy has been a hell of a ride with so many thoughts to be had. Thank you for all the hard work digging through so much information and then presenting it in a detailed and exciting way. I will definitely be hung up on these theories for a long time. The ending here was absolutely amazing with Dainsleif. Everything going back to him and Paimon is like a perfectly wrapped ribbon. So excited for the future of the game's story.

It's been sooo long since I've heard anyone focus on this point, even though it's incredibly important! While I've heard people reason that Paimon may be a moon sister before, I haven't seen it done this well. The theory makes sense because if you go into the big hilichurl tribes of mondstadt, they have a banner on one of the towers made up of 1 blue with a white star and 3 yellow with blue stars, 3 moons and 1 sun. Phanes being the sun shade and the possible demiurge was always a personal theory, this video really just solidified it in a strange way. Since natlan is just a year away, we can kinda predict where the lore will take us if the main inspiration is the aztec empire, due to the myths of the 5 suns and the earth being a giant beast that demands sacrifices in order to keep the world afloat, and that the last cycle of humanity will end in an earthquake somehow. Earthquakes that happen underwater usually leads to massive tidal waves and floods. I find it interesting that Paimon has moon connections, since the moon irl controls the ebb and flow of the oceans and because Honkai 3rds Kiana is also explicitly tied to the goddess Chang'e, another moon goddess whose name looks like the english word change. Maybe Paimon also has these connotations.

there's a slight correction, Paimon was fished out on Liyue, exactly at Guyun stone forest I get this info from other theory crafter looking closely on the picture of when Paimon was fished out, which makes it weird why we go to mondo first in the story

I do think it's pretty clear, 99% that Paimon was a celestia-level god, beyond the archons, whose power was drained and her body shrank, etc. I am REALLY looking forward to meeting full-power adult Paimon (even if it's only in flashbacks). I think that'll be rad. :3
Minor detail but I had no idea Paimon was the closest demon to Lucifer... Given how Traveler has so many parallels to Lucifer, it makes all the more sense she's always by their side! Oh and her being basically Genshin's version of a Stellaron Hunter is quite funny given how she couldn't be more different from them in vibes.

Because players don't pay enough attention to the dialogues, so they have to be constantly remindes of what's going on. @shycrackerno, an antagonist is simply a character who opposes the protagonist, who is simply the main character. the attitudes, goals and ideals of these characters are irrelevant. your antagonist can be a good person, and your protagonist can be an asshole. all that matters is that their goals, ideals, etc oppose each other. like, for example, despite being a Good Guy™️, sonic the hedgehog is the antagonist in many routes of the “hit” game shadow the hedgehog (2005), as in those routes he opposes shadow, who is our protagonist even though stealing candy from a baby is fine by him. so yeah fischl, rosaria and especially xiao aren’t even remotely antagonists, as they don’t oppose the traveler’s goals and especially their ideals. maybe get more acquainted with media literacy.

Just a thing about the Shogun not killing Paimon during their very first encounter. As crazy as it may seem, Ei and the Shogun were actually "fair". Yeah, they were tyrannical and killed tons of people, but she never killed anyone that wasn't directly involved in the situation that ended with her deeming their lives should be lost. There was a duel to the death culture in Inazuma, and even if witnesses got distraught upon seeing a loved one being killed, the Shogun wouldn't do them any harm. In the scene here, it was the Traveler that disrespected the Shogun by directly interfering with the vision confiscation. Paimon was just a bystander, and Thoma also wasn't directly involved in that action. If the Shogun had killed the Traveler, she probably wouldn't have killed Paimon or Thoma afterwards, she'd just finish the vision taking ceremony and send Thoma and Paimon on their way. And if they protested, she might even invite them to a duel to the death and all, but she would respect the customs in Inazuma, not just slaughter them without them having their "fair" chance to duel her. That said, her victory against them would be a sure thing... So that's why "fair".

I still think that Paimon is Phanes, Istaroth is the shade of time, the Sustainer is the shade of void, King Deshret is the shade of death and Morax is the shade of life. I don't know how much the writers at HoYo looked into the ancient floods on Earth, but they were not only very real, there were several floods in the span of a few thousand years - Meltwater Pulse 1A, 1B and 1C, triggered by the Younger Dryas impact event. There is still a debate on the first flood, whether it was caused by the exit from the glacial period or by falling meteors, but there is clear evidence that Earth got hit by quite the meteor shower and the whole planet was burnt and then flooded repeatedly. Also, these floods wiped out the civilizations that existed back then, which were quite advanced.

I personally think that the Second Who Came won. Apep says otherwise, but remember that Irminsul can change memory of inhabitants of the world. And it ties very good with the main inspiration for the game - Gnosticism. Because by that move we have a false god, a Demiurge in Celestia, not the Primordial one. But I don't think that it denies your theory abour Paimon - she may still be trying to create a predermined destiny, and be the Moon sister.
Most likely she's speaking the truth, it is my theory that apep isn't affected by irminsul since she's THE dragon lord of dentro. So, since she should had complete control of it (dendro) she either created it or has a higher authority to it even without her powers. Of course this can only happen if you think of irminsul as another creation originating in the light realm, like the primordial sea. EIther way, its uncertain unless she predates it or if it was created by the invader gods (either PO or second who came)
I don't know, I like Paimon's EN voice acting, the CG expressions just can't back up the drama and expressions Corina puts in, I realized this while watching a fanmade animatic of Paimon. When the anime releases, we'd actually get to see and hear the cast lipsync properly and it'd feel better.
You'll see that even with only listening to the cn dub, which we can say is the "OG-one" ig ... I use it sometimes and she feels so much gentler in a way. Nothing wrong with Corina's voice, they're really talented, but just like Xiao, the direction they got wasn't the best sadly .. The character of Paimon is annoying one, but not in this loud and shouting way
if Dain had Solomon's Ring could he not control the gods? and if so could he have summoned them to help during the cataclysm. is the sustainer under the control of Solomon's ring? There is a problem, some books say two of the moon sisters die. I think it was around the fight with the second throne. This doesnt mean Paimon could not be the remaining sister, or the sun. Istaroth was called Kairos, the god of moments, so there must be Chronos the other god of time. Maybe the shades are based on what artifacts represent? This view about destiny makes sense. Btw, the pale princess and the six pygmies talk about the night mother, wich is Nix and she is consider the mother of Phanes. Grieg mythology has many variation, in some the Moirai are the child of Zeus and Themis, in other Ananke is the mother, and in other Nix is the only parent. Fact the Teyvat was a planet was confirmed long time ago. In 1.0 there was a bug that lets you jump way too high. If you actually traveled far enough you could see a sphere forming shape.
If we look at the Welkin Moon, the girl there really resembles Paimon. And when we look closer, Paimon's cape might actually have a hood, and so the Welkin moon character might actually be Paimon wearing her hood. Not to mention the... pot it sits in. Isn't Paimon called emergency food? She was even drawn like that by the Traveller themselves. So yeah, the Moon Sister theory seems to be really valid. I find it extremely interesting that Moon Sisters might be Phanes's sisters actually. I always kinda didn't like the theory that they were shades. They seemed to be separate beings. I'm not 100% sure if Neuvillette mentioning 'planet' is really what he's supposed to say. I don't have access to chinese original but we've been subject to clunky translations before and pretty much all other evidence suggests Teyvat is not a planet in usual sense.

It was not a contradiction. If Phanes is the son of Ananke and the Moirai are also her daughters, and if the Moon Sisters in Genshin are 3 out of the 4 Shades, then the Moon Sisters physically resembling Phanes (their brother) would make sense.

Not only that but i believe the second who came to be the sovereign dragon king who lost the first time, he left teyvat and came back with forbidden knowledge in order to beat the primordial one. The theory makes sense because if you go into the big hilichurl tribes of mondstadt, they have a banner on one of the towers made up of 1 blue with a white star and 3 yellow with blue stars, 3 moons and 1 sun.
Phanes being the sun shade and the possible demiurge was always a personal theory, this video really just solidified it in a strange way.
Since natlan is just a year away, we can kinda predict where the lore will take us if the main inspiration is the aztec empire, due to the myths of the 5 suns and the earth being a giant beast that demands sacrifices in order to keep the world afloat, and that the last cycle of humanity will end in an earthquake somehow. Earthquakes that happen underwater usually leads to massive tidal waves and floods.
I find it interesting that Paimon has moon connections, since the moon irl controls the ebb and flow of the oceans and because Honkai 3rds Kiana is also explicitly tied to the goddess Chang'e, another moon goddess whose name looks like the english word change. Maybe Paimon also has these connotations.
I remember him talking about the Kiana stuff in one of his old videos. Now that you bring it up again, I think this is deliberate by Hoyoverse.

I do think it's pretty clear, 99% that Paimon was a celestia-level god, beyond the archons, whose power was drained and her body shrank, etc. I am REALLY looking forward to meeting full-power adult Paimon (even if it's only in flashbacks). I think that'll be rad. :3
Minor detail but I had no idea Paimon was the closest demon to Lucifer... Given how Traveler has so many parallels to Lucifer, it makes all the more sense she's always by their side! Oh and her being basically Genshin's version of a Stellaron Hunter is quite funny given how she couldn't be more different from them in vibes.

Why do you think she keeps repeating what other people say? Because players don't pay enough attention to the dialogues, so they have to be constantly remindes of what's going on. @shycrackerno, an antagonist is simply a character who opposes the protagonist, who is simply the main character. the attitudes, goals and ideals of these characters are irrelevant. your antagonist can be a good person, and your protagonist can be an asshole. all that matters is that their goals, ideals, etc oppose each other.
like, for example, despite being a Good Guy™️, sonic the hedgehog is the antagonist in many routes of the “hit” game shadow the hedgehog (2005), as in those routes he opposes shadow, who is our protagonist even though stealing candy from a baby is fine by him.
so yeah fischl, rosaria and especially xiao aren’t even remotely antagonists, as they don’t oppose the traveler’s goals and especially their ideals. maybe get more acquainted with media literacy.

Just a thing about the Shogun not killing Paimon during their very first encounter. As crazy as it may seem, Ei and the Shogun were actually "fair". Yeah, they were tyrannical and killed tons of people, but she never killed anyone that wasn't directly involved in the situation that ended with her deeming their lives should be lost. There was a duel to the death culture in Inazuma, and even if witnesses got distraught upon seeing a loved one being killed, the Shogun wouldn't do them any harm.
In the scene here, it was the Traveler that disrespected the Shogun by directly interfering with the vision confiscation. Paimon was just a bystander, and Thoma also wasn't directly involved in that action. If the Shogun had killed the Traveler, she probably wouldn't have killed Paimon or Thoma afterwards, she'd just finish the vision taking ceremony and send Thoma and Paimon on their way. And if they protested, she might even invite them to a duel to the death and all, but she would respect the customs in Inazuma, not just slaughter them without them having their "fair" chance to duel her. That said, her victory against them would be a sure thing... So that's why "fair".

I don't know how much the writers at HoYo looked into the ancient floods on Earth, but they were not only very real, there were several floods in the span of a few thousand years - Meltwater Pulse 1A, 1B and 1C, triggered by the Younger Dryas impact event. There is still a debate on the first flood, whether it was caused by the exit from the glacial period or by falling meteors, but there is clear evidence that Earth got hit by quite the meteor shower and the whole planet was burnt and then flooded repeatedly. Also, these floods wiped out the civilizations that existed back then, which were quite advanced.

I personally think that the Second Who Came won. Apep says otherwise, but remember that Irminsul can change memory of inhabitants of the world. And it ties very good with the main inspiration for the game - Gnosticism. Because by that move we have a false god, a Demiurge in Celestia, not the Primordial one. But I don't think that it denies your theory abour Paimon - she may still be trying to create a predermined destiny, and be the Moon sister.
I am still unsure whether the Second Who Came won or lost. It is hard to tell because the winner can just rewrite history as they wish.
Most likely she's speaking the truth, it is my theory that apep isn't affected by irminsul since she's THE dragon lord of dentro. So, since she should had complete control of it (dendro) she either created it or has a higher authority to it even without her powers. Of course this can only happen if you think of irminsul as another creation originating in the light realm, like the primordial sea. EIther way, its uncertain unless she predates it or if it was created by the invader gods (either PO or second who came)
I don't know, I like Paimon's EN voice acting, the CG expressions just can't back up the drama and expressions Corina puts in, I realized this while watching a fanmade animatic of Paimon. When the anime releases, we'd actually get to see and hear the cast lipsync properly and it'd feel better.
You'll see that even with only listening to the cn dub, which we can say is the "OG-one" ig ... I use it sometimes and she feels so much gentler in a way. Nothing wrong with Corina's voice, they're really talented, but just like Xiao, the direction they got wasn't the best sadly .. There is a problem, some books say two of the moon sisters die. I think it was around the fight with the second throne. This doesnt mean Paimon could not be the remaining sister, or the sun. Istaroth was called Kairos, the god of moments, so there must be Chronos the other god of time. Maybe the shades are based on what artifacts represent? This view about destiny makes sense. Btw, the pale princess and the six pygmies talk about the night mother, wich is Nix and she is consider the mother of Phanes. Grieg mythology has many variation, in some the Moirai are the child of Zeus and Themis, in other Ananke is the mother, and in other Nix is the only parent. Fact the Teyvat was a planet was confirmed long time ago. In 1.0 there was a bug that lets you jump way too high. If you actually traveled far enough you could see a sphere forming shape.
If we look at the Welkin Moon, the girl there really resembles Paimon. And when we look closer, Paimon's cape might actually have a hood, and so the Welkin moon character might actually be Paimon wearing her hood. Not to mention the... pot it sits in. Isn't Paimon called emergency food? She was even drawn like that by the Traveller themselves. So yeah, the Moon Sister theory seems to be really valid. I find it extremely interesting that Moon Sisters might be Phanes's sisters actually. I always kinda didn't like the theory that they were shades. They seemed to be separate beings. It was not a contradiction. If Phanes is the son of Ananke and the Moirai are also her daughters, and if the Moon Sisters in Genshin are 3 out of the 4 Shades, then the Moon Sisters physically resembling Phanes (their brother) would make sense.
nice video but i disagree with the conclusion. I think the second who came did indeed win the against the primordial one. Not only that but i believe the second who came to be the sovereign dragon king who lost the first time, he left teyvat and came back with forbidden knowledge in order to beat the primordial one. This would explain why paimon(who i believe to be the primordial one) would be in a small/suppressed state. because she lost. after winning it wouldn’t be hard for the second who came to alter irmunsul and everyone’s memories into thinking he was the primordial one
