Honestly, I wish more of them would try to build big boats. The stuff the others are pursuing ("population control", manipulation/mind control, tracking, etc.) are far worse.
Even if he did build a cruise ship named after the Titanic, they could never actually replicate the experience. Even 3rd class passengers had a better meal experience than what we're used to. 1st class had like 8-course meals. They had smoking rooms. They had huge ballrooms with furniture made of noble woods that can't even be commercialized now. There was SO much that any sane investor would deem unnecessary today. There's a great little series on Tasting History about the meals on the Titanic and everything is so wildly luxurious it sounds unreal.
I was thinking the same thing! Honestly I'd love to go to a restaurant that recreates the experience and dining areas. Not on the water though, just on land thanks -Eva
"It's a lot more fun to do the Titanic than it is to sit at home and count my money" is a WILD thing to admit to saying, much less quote directly on your website. That sentence alone just convinced me to invest money into developing stronger icebergs.
2:58 no please Danny you don’t understand the titanic was prepared for every other disaster except the one that it met. If ONE less water tight chamber making up the ships hull had been spared from the sideswiping iceberg (or if they had seen it to begin with) it may not have sunk. The titanic is a tragedy because it is a testament to hubris. They believed the ship wasn’t sinkable, until it ran into the one thing capable of sinking it.
i wasn't thinking "how could the titanic get a sequel it's a historical movie", i was thinking "how could the titanic get a sequel, the movie's 26 years old now which means Leonardo di Caprio is NO longer interested"
Well, a lot of people don’t like cancelling because the consequences to peoples actions are often unpredictable, unproportional, and misguided when done through cancellation
i hate it because of how far it's been taken, even i have been cancelled over personal grudges people had for me and i certainly do acknowledge when i do something wrong. half the time it's completely unnecessary, people have taken it way too far. it just became a vendetta thing rather than genuinely holding people accountable for problematic behavior. people lie a lot to make someone look bad or completely blow things out of proportion. conceptually and in many instances like this, you're right. it's a good idea in theory but in practice it's gotten out of hand in recent years. just adding in some extra nuance is all, not everyone who has been cancelled is a bad person it's a case by case thing by now.
"Oh my God, we've got smallpox," at 10:43 may not be in a good Australian accent, as you observed, but it was a pretty good Ringo Starr, in my opinion.
Even worse is that clive palmer is a national figure in australia. He has his own political party, and won a seat in the aussie house of reps in 2013. He also spent billions in 2019 to win, but failed to gain a single seat
@@r3negadex thing is that culturally australians are not fans of ultra-rich people, so people like gina rinehart and clive palmer just don't have the cultural cachet of trump. also, because of the parliamentary system and compulsory voting, outsiders with small but very enthusiastic bases (like the maga crowd) just don't have a prayer here, if they could even get a foot in the door in the first place
i hyperfixated on titanic tragedy for many years, watched documentaries about it and read books, and it's so funny to me how danny is like "was it the structural flaw?? why did titanic sink???". like i forgot that it's not common knowledge and most people think about it like "big boat meets an iceberg and boom"
Seconded, I also forgot that people don't understand what happened with it. For me, though, it's because my brother likes to lecture me about vehicles.
you should definitely elaborate on what you thought was common knowledge, that way those losers who don’t know anything abt boats understand (i am losers, idk what went wrong with titanic)
@@mr.bingusthecat i'm no expert but i think the common knowledge aspect of it is that there was a combo of very poor decision making on the part of the captain, bad luck, the fact that they hit the iceberg from the side and not head-on (it was better fortified for head-on collisions) so it tore open a big hole, and this meant that watertight compartments inside the ship (intended to keep it afloat even if it was stove in and a few of them flooded) filled with water and bc they weren't properly sealed at the top the water overflowed as the ship tilted and flooded more than just the compartments where the hole was, so that it sank. also there were issues with the lifeboats obviously. but if op has corrections/more info they defs know more than me haha i just worked on boats for a while and this is what i heard
SAME LOL wasn't it that the watertight bulkheads didn't go up high enough, so the water just spilled over and it was said she could float with like 3 compartments filled or something but since they weren't high enough they just kept filling with water until the whole ship was brought down

13:21 Hit the nail on the head, Danny. Clive Palmer is the guy who ran on the political slogan "make Australia great again" and is hosting Tucker Carlson to do live shows in Australia.
Yeah, the sequel was called the Brittanic which launched in 1914 but was sunk on a mine on the Greek coast in 1916 while serving as a hospital ship. But there was also a prequel called the Olympic which was launched in 1911 and scrapped in 1935.

Honestly it’s kinda a miracle the Titanic even stayed afloat for as long as it did and it has to do with where the iceberg hit her and the craftsmanship. A lot of people tend to make jokes about how fast it sank but she stayed afloat for nearly three hours which allowed the crew to get as many people as they could into the lifeboats.
This!! It’s unclear whether they would have even been able to load more lifeboats even if there had been the proper amount. Obv ships should have enough for everyone, but it’s possible it wouldn’t have made a difference.
Exactly, and even those 2 hours and 40 minutes were not enough to launch all of the boats she did carry. It's a miracle she stayed on a relatively even keel, too. Lifeboats are useless if a ship capsizes.
@@SaraRoseVaughan YES! Like they weren’t able to get the lifeboats they did have all launched. Even if they had the right amount, no shot they would’ve been able to get everyone in them. And yeah, it’s incredible how evenly the Titanic sank allowing the boats to be lowered, even if it was crookedly
As someone who worked on a cruise ship that’s hit a small iceberg and we had no issue I can confirm that it depends on the size of the ice. Also I encourage you to look up the Costa Concordia to anyone who says the captain goes down with the ship 🫣
@@randomtinypotatocried i cant say i played it bc he’s a bit of a prick but from memory of all the ads (he had way too many running) it was a supermario style thing with him defeating all the politicians 😭
I was watching some documentary about the Titanic, and it suggested that the Titanic could have possibly taken the hit because it might have been a head-on strike in the beginning which it had been built to be able to take some if not all damage from, but their attempts to avoid it made it scrape and tear along the side, instead of supposedly just hit and rebound from the nose with minor damage, so there's that.
Also the grand central staircase took up so much room they reduced one of the main air pockets, decreasing the amount of water it could take on and causing it to sink faster
the best part about this is that someone else is working on a titanic submarine 2 too, so i guess we gotta wait 100 years for the submarine to be launched.
11:59 Fun fact! If someone says, "You know what I mean" whenever you ask them to define something... they have no idea what they're talking about. Anyway. Completely unrelated, but I am sure the guy who keeps using the word 'woke' surely knows what it means...

Honestly I would love to pay to experience a tour of the titanic at full scale, maybe stay overnight while it’s PARKED, view maybe a museum inside/historically accurate areas. That would be awesome. But actually take a trip in it? No. Absolutely not lol
As far as I’m aware it’s not in a replica boat, but there IS a visitor attraction (tour/museum/etc) for the Titanic in Belfast (just search up ‘Titanic Belfast’ to find it lol), which is in Northern Ireland and is the place where the Titanic was built!
The RMS Queen Mary is docked in Long Beach California (near LA)! Giant ocean steam liner, I think about twice the size of the Titanic? Built in the 1930s, and all that historic decor is still preserved. The boat was permanently docked there in the 1960s, and now operates as a hotel. They do tours and stuff, and there is a museum on board. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend checking it out!!

@@maetherabbit9999 hahahah he really is a joke
Even if he did build a cruise ship named after the Titanic, they could never actually replicate the experience. Even 3rd class passengers had a better meal experience than what we're used to. 1st class had like 8-course meals. They had smoking rooms. They had huge ballrooms with furniture made of noble woods that can't even be commercialized now. There was SO much that any sane investor would deem unnecessary today. There's a great little series on Tasting History about the meals on the Titanic and everything is so wildly luxurious it sounds unreal.
I watched that and was surprised that even the 3rd class passengers ate good
I was thinking the same thing! Honestly I'd love to go to a restaurant that recreates the experience and dining areas. Not on the water though, just on land thanks

Well, a lot of people don’t like cancelling because the consequences to peoples actions are often unpredictable, unproportional, and misguided when done through cancellation
I don't think that's his reason
@@pineapplelollipop1074 Both of these things can be true.
@@Naixatloz yeah, I don’t disagree with the original comment.
i hate it because of how far it's been taken, even i have been cancelled over personal grudges people had for me and i certainly do acknowledge when i do something wrong. half the time it's completely unnecessary, people have taken it way too far. it just became a vendetta thing rather than genuinely holding people accountable for problematic behavior. people lie a lot to make someone look bad or completely blow things out of proportion.
conceptually and in many instances like this, you're right. it's a good idea in theory but in practice it's gotten out of hand in recent years. just adding in some extra nuance is all, not everyone who has been cancelled is a bad person it's a case by case thing by now.

you should definitely elaborate on what you thought was common knowledge, that way those losers who don’t know anything abt boats understand (i am losers, idk what went wrong with titanic)
Following for the titanic lesson, please
SAME LOL
wasn't it that the watertight bulkheads didn't go up high enough, so the water just spilled over and it was said she could float with like 3 compartments filled or something but since they weren't high enough they just kept filling with water until the whole ship was brought down

That already happened.
Or do you mean ALL the lifeboats this time?
“Icebergs revenge”
nah there ain't any icebergs left
