Ashburys was once my local station and I spent the best part of 3 years night and day spotting there...until my job got in the way ! As you said the green DMU is on Marple turn back service whilst the pacers ran through to New Mills. The 08 is shunting in Ashburys wagon works yard whilst the 47 is on the very sparse working to Phillips Park Steel works...the run round loop at the works having been taken up by then hence the reversal movement, shame you didn't catch one of the Sheffield bound trains, usually 31/4 hauled. I'm guessing the 37 hauled train originated at Hope St bound for one of the quarrys around Buxton...great memories and such a shame that Ashburys is just an unmanned halt these days. Thanks for posting.
My pleasure..... Quite busy back then. I wondered where the Gronk had come from.... and the 37 was hauling the vacuum braked 1930s built wagons, i think they survived until the late 1990s or early 2000s....
Nice bit of nostalgia here! I live near Guide Bridge, so I pass this area almost every time I go into Manchester! Although this video is from 1988, and I dodn't move to Manchester until 1991, it brings back a lot of memories, such as the clunky rattle of the 304's over pointwork!
Good morning 😀 Great video of my local railway area 👍🏻 I lived in Urmston and travelled round the Manchester area train spotting throughout the 70s early 80s on my Honda CB250 lol 😆 It was a great era for me and I only stopped train spotting when the new trains started coming as I didn’t like them such as the Nodding Donkey’s 🤣 But I’m still interested in trains at the old age of 65 and videos like yours bring back so many happy memories 🤩 My eldest daughter works at Manchester Victoria as a BTP officer and I’m so proud of her 😍 Take care cheers Stevie 👍🏻
Hi Stevie, thanks for your memories, i'm pleased you enjoyed the vid. I do have some others from Manchester around this time, like Man Vic here th-cam.com/video/bE1tg-cAcjk/w-d-xo.html
Soi, I've recently re-discovered my well thumbed 1977 Ian Allan loco guide. Now when you post a video I play along at home, filling in some of the blanks from 45 years ago. Is this cheating?! 😁
Nice to hear the 142's with the original Leyland TL11 engines and SCG Gearbox configuration. Excellent stuff as always Soi
Thank you......

Wow. I may have been working in Ashburys box when this was filmed. I loved it
Thank you... It was filmed on 24 May 1988, so if you still have your old diaries, you can check!.... lol

Yes! But you could start a new craze, spotting locos on TH-cam vids........lol
LOOKS very much like some of it could have been filmed in the early 1970s in some parts
Yes, it was a very run down part of the railway......
@@SoiBuakhaoRoutemasterbus ONLY the appearance of the 142 sprinter broke the "illusion" of it being say 1973
@@Keithbarber Well, Leyland Nationals were around in 1973.... although not on arils though..... lol
