  • In this video, I share all the things I love and hate about my kitchen. After 14 years, my kitchen is still the best part of my home and I have no desire to remodel.
I hope if you are embarking on a kitchen remodel or new build you can learn from my mistakes and my wins. I cover inexpensive lighting tricks, open floor plan layouts in a colonial, best pantry layout and how to make your space perfect for you. As always, I want to leave trends behind and help you create a highly functional space that bring your joy and happiness for many years.
    Thank you for watching!

One thing we did while our townhouse was being built was to have an electrical outlet installed above each set of kitchen cabinets. The only thing we forgot was to request them to be installed horizontally instead of vertically 😜

My suggestion is to avoid over the range microwaves or drawer Style microwaves on an island. If it's built into your Cabinetry make sure you can pull it out without too much trouble. Microwaves are disposable devices, after a few years they get rusty inside and smelly or they just stopped working. If you have an expensive microwave at some point it will break down and then instead of just swapping it out for $150 you will have to get it repaired which will be expensive and time-consuming and you are going to have to remove it and reinstall it.

I thought I replied to this comment because I was so impressed by the advice. I totally agree. I would do exactly what you suggest if I was doing a kitchen over. I would panel all my appliance and not spend any money on my microwave. I will say my microwave is powerful but guests blow things up in it all the time so I totally agree don’t overspend on microwaves. Thanks for the comment.

    What granite is this? Beautiful!

The place where I got my granite makes up different names. I have tried give it to people before. I have even went to place where I got it with people and it looks different since my kitchen is 15 years old it looks different. I know they have similar stones out there because I have gone with people to hunt it done and we had success. If you want email me and I will send you pictures of it up close or if you have a slab you are thinking of send me a picture and we can compare. It has a lot of white in it. I want to be very honest it is busy and it dictates a lot of my design. The rest of my house is quiet so it works but just keep this in mind. My email is julieromandesign@gmail.com
