First time seeing the video. I've been looking for this song for ten or more years! I remember when it came out in the 80s. Iam Siam - Talk To Me Dub version is my favorite.
I bought the I Am Siam cassette tape after seeing this video on Mtv. The album and group will go down in obscurity, but I still love this song. I love a lot of obscure music that most people think is weird, but the top 40 has never appealed to me.
It's better than most full scale movies. The whole idea & character. The mood, feel & atmosphere. I was lucky to have seen this video in a theatre during a screening prior to its video release. The whole audience was mesmerized. I don't remember the film I was there to screen -- but, I remember this video. Just a great, well thought out concept. What's it about? Who cares. Use your own imagination. People still aren't sure what that big slab was in the original 2001: A Space Odyssey either.
I was blown away by this video when I first saw it on MTV back in '84 ! ! ! One of the most awesome videos/songs to come out of the 80s! The metaphysical aspects are DEEP...
Saw this video in a theater showcase of new videos! Not even on MTV at the time. The entire audience was mesmerized. Great dance track, great images and characters -- commanding vocalist. Videos back then were so creative. It was followed by Blancmange's "Don't Tell Me," that was equally wonderful. Later, I discovered Juluka (with Johnny Clegg) performing "Scatterlings of Africa." It was at this time that I suspected that maybe music wasn't stagnating after all and some dance music was going to be...quite interesting.
Fantastic song, very hypnotic and powerful. By the way, it can be seen as an answer to Planet P Project's "Why me". The girl in this is exceptionally beautiful, such magnetic beauty. Cannot really believe they were going to sacrifice her! :)
Hi. the video was often seen on MTV in 1984 when the song came out. This album nor song bcame a hit, but, it was very unique at the time. I was lucky to know them with the video first.
During my clean-up-the-room project for this summer, I found the IAM SIAM LP and 12 inch single of Talk To Me. Both the tune and the video were so impressive and unforgettable. It is great to see the video on TH-cam. I believe the video gave a strong infuence to the 1989 video of Brother of Mine, by Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe.
@allclassics the music project is called Iam Siam---a project from Stefan Vienna the people are "the lamorians" if I remember correctly (it was part of a story)
wolfmanjim From what I remember hearing it was a concept project by a bunch of Columbia Records execs... no real band, just session players and vocalists.
Years later....I wrote this with the lyricist Stefan Vienna. The whole thing was our concept. I did the vocal and produced with David Sonenberg and Larry Fast.
I wonder if the fundamental misunderstanding of how the tribe is supposed to give the chosen one over to the mountain gods is meant to be parallel to western misinterpretation of Judaism/Christianity
OMG!! I've been searching for this song for the past 20 years+...I can hardly believe I'm watching this right now!!

My mom used to tease me about my taste in music constantly, cause I was always blasting and dancing to this!

I was always fascinated by this song and video when it came it!
Interesting. The video edit of the song is actually better than the single. Long lost treasure, this one. Thanks for posting!

Does anyone know anything more about this band? I can find almost nothing on Google.

Facundo Linares like the techno-tribal sound and vision on this one.

Fidneus Diller I’d love to hear your version. Brian@lennonbus.org
Someone wants to bury this song.

There's a really good dance song in this, but I think it would have been better with more restrained studio production.
No one looks Siam or Thai?? they don't use red Ocra like in Amazon. Siam girls don't have Italian noses and no nappy hair W ..TF
