I didnt see it in the comments so I'll add it here. This was based on a true story about a woman who forgot her husband. The interviews of them retelling their story is very sweet, I remember the wife saying, "my brain lost my memories of him, but my feelings were undamaged and stayed the same. Every time there was a scary medical appointment, when asked who I wanted with me as my support person I always chose him because felt i could trust him and I felt so safe with this man I couldnt recognise."
I remember being a kid watching this and thinking how horrific her pregnancy must have been. Like 9 months of waking up with an unexplained baby bump must have been insane
It would be wildly irresponsible for anyone to get her pregnant knowing she has that condition. Then again, people can be broke AF and still pump out 5 kids because humans aren't always responsible.

This film is actually based on the true story of Michelle Philpots, who suffered two head injuries, in 1985 and 1990. Like the movie, Philpots’s memory resets when she sleeps, so her husband has to remind her of their marriage, the accident and her progress every morning. I think(not 100% sure as I saw a comment about this on another persons reaction on this movie) that after this movie the video tapes idea and writing down everything became a treatment for people with memory problems like Lucy. It doesn't fix their memory loss but it helps them live as normal of a life as possible and move forward

The most beautiful thing about that is, it goes to show he was thinking about our 50th even before we toook our vows. Happy holidays guys!
BTW, in case nobody else saw this: The pineapple is a symbol for Lucy's memory. The pineapple goes flying in the accident, representing her losing her memory. Dad gets a pineapple without her, representing Dad making sure Lucy doesn't remember the accident. Later, when Lucy and Henry are at the beach, there are a few pineapples on the ground, representing Lucy's memory slowly staying intact with the help of the tape.

heey. my dad had (and has) a brain tumor in 1993 and forgot most of his life, to this day he cant remember who I'm because he thinks he has a much younger daughter, so he calls me by my middle sister's name and my oldest sister he calls by his youngest sister. Except for my mom andd one of his brothers.

So, I have been super busy lately and haven’t been able to watch you guys, which I lovingly call “my boys” when referring to you guys with other people. And let me tell you the shock I experienced when I noticed Rob cut his hair! It looks great and I’ve missed watching your videos. Time to catch up!
I'm glad you guys mentioned how Henry was made out to be a womanizer at the start of the film, but when he met Lucy, there were no signs of that dude. I just realized there aren't a lot of stories out there with that type of setting, where the guy immediately drops the womanizer personality because he met THE one. It makes 50 First Dates stand out, because we see a lot of these semi-Henry Roth-types grapple with sticking to one vs. keeping their womanizing ways like it's a life-or-death situation. Lucy IS the one for Henry, he knew that from the very first time saw her, and he wasted no time in trying to make that happen. You don't see a lot of decisive male characters in similar stories these days.
I have traumatic brain injury, and while this movie isn't a realistic depiction of it, a lot of what Lucy experiences is relatable. I have a span of about a decade where I have very few memories. The movie shows that Lucy, like me, feels how odd- and sometimes awful- it is told to be told about things that you don't remember when you realistically should. The IRL implications of the movie is actually kind of horrifying, but I choose to ignore that for the sake of fiction. The whole racist aspect of this film really sucks though.
You mentioned that the fact of him being a womanizer seemed to disappear after the opening montage, but that actually plays a huge part in the rest of the plot. That's what makes him so perfect for her- he loves the chase, and he always got bored in relationships before, which is why he ended up as a serial dater, and specifically with tourists who he knew weren't going to be around for long. But with Lucy, he has to/gets to pursue her every day with the same amount of energy, in order to make her fall in love with him
Yes, 10 second Tom is a possibility! Depending on what area of the brain is damaged and how bad a person with brain injury can have difficulty with memory, physical functioning, speech, and cognitive issues like problem solving making decisions etc etc
the spam is actually a kind of inside joke because Native Americans (like myself) and Native Hawaiians have this in common, we love spam 😂 It was originally a low-quality commodity food given to indigenous communities by the government, but we all still eat it because its good lolllll
Wonderful movie in so many ways, and a bit of a surprise from an Adam Sandler movie in that it was more serious and sympathetic towards the affliction than you would expect in his films.. Drew and Adam are just perfect together in all of their films and definitely worth watching the others.. You were right about him having the cast in so many of his projects as there are a lot of them in almost every film he does, such as her father, who plays with him as the assistant coach in The Waterboy and the devil's assistant in Little Nicky, or the one receptionist at the institute who is also in those films, as well as the sex-changed friend at the campfire, not to mention Rob Schneider and Steve Buscemi who also seem to pop up in his films.. Adam seems to have very strong ties to his friends and they always seem to be in his projects.. So nice to see that kind of loyalty these days with all the nonsense that goes on in Hollywood.. :)
There is a real "10 second Tom" named Clive Wearing. He could only remember new events for 7 to 30 seconds. His case is interesting to read about, but sad. When he goes out to eat at a restaurant, he can't even remember what the food that he orders tastes like.
Found this channel the other day… first watch was Juno. I hope y’all love Zuff cause I think he’s so pure 😅 once you watch a few, you start to get his rhythm and how he thinks, and it’s really quite fluid and interesting 🫶🏽 he’s a very smart guy

BTW, in case nobody else saw this:
The pineapple is a symbol for Lucy's memory.
🤯
This movie was absolutely not sponsored by SPAM. Clearly none of you guys have been to Hawaii, SPAM and eggs is what basically EVERYONE eats for breakfast, every day.
Not related but could you boys please react to “ SELENA” 1997 Starring Jennifer Lopez the true & tragic biopic of the 90s music Icon Selena! Aka The “Queen of Tejano music“ Grab your tissues!
heey. my dad had (and has) a brain tumor in 1993 and forgot most of his life, to this day he cant remember who I'm because he thinks he has a much younger daughter, so he calls me by my middle sister's name and my oldest sister he calls by his youngest sister. Except for my mom andd one of his brothers.
Omg watch THE WEDDING SINGER with Adam Sandler and SANDY WEXLER please! They are romance comedies of Adam’s that I just live but Wedding Singer is my top fave
Loved this one! You all need to watch The Wedding Singer and Click for more Sandler and Rudy for more Astin. Have you seen Rudy?? 😊
Speaking of movies with a person with no short term memory. You should watch Memento. It’s a triller type movie. It’s great!!
There is a real "10 second Tom" named Clive Wearing. He could only remember new events for 7 to 30 seconds. His case is interesting to read about, but sad. When he goes out to eat at a restaurant, he can't even remember what the food that he orders tastes like.
React to all Happy Madison films plz!!
"The Vow" with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum is another movie with a similar situation based on a true story.
Every video i wonder how much b reel exists of zuff just saying unhinged shit and you guys reacting to it lmao
Found this channel the other day… first watch was Juno.
I hope y’all love Zuff cause I think he’s so pure 😅 once you watch a few, you start to get his rhythm and how he thinks, and it’s really quite fluid and interesting 🫶🏽 he’s a very smart guy
You could totally go out there and do it zuff!
Have you seen Adam in The Wedding Singer? Drew is on that one too. It’s awesome. Billy Idol even shows up.
Lived in Hawaii for 3 years, Spam is everywhere. You can get Spam at McDonald’s even lol
Definitely in my top 5 Adam Sandler films. Also his wife Jackie often makes appearances in a lot of his films you can see her at 3:17 as the dentist.
