Historically, rock artists in Argentina have always enjoyed playing "weird" chords and voicings or using complex rhythms. Spinetta, Serú Girán (and Charly García), and Soda Stereo (Gustavo Cerati) are prime examples. Catriel continues a four- or five-decade tradition of sophistication in Argentine rock.
Paco and Ca7riel both are 31 years old. They studied music at a conservatory in Argentina. Paco plays the violin and drums too! They used to have a band with jazz and rock influences. They're really great.
Loving your reactions 😂🤍 for the record, “mi deseo” doesn’t mean “bad bitch” they’re actually two different songs that they mashed up for this tiny desk concert. Mi deseo is a Paco Amoroso song and Bad Bitch is a Ca7riel song.
Just an FYI, the whole band was hit with a flu like illness they had to work through as the performance approached. By the time they hit the stage Paco was really feeling it, hence the hat and low key voice issues. Still what a performance.
btw I would love for you to react to some charly garcia, spinetta or cerati like the classic from argentinian music, specially charly garcia but its a personal favorite since he went throught so many genres over the years and diferent bands from diferent eras, and always, and I mean always, far ahead of his time (so does spinetta or cerati but well charly my fav)
When a band remind a lot of masters musician at the same moments... then the band is really brilliant. Could you mention a lot of similarities: James Brown, George Benson, Jamiroquai, etc. etc. and so differents musical colors like the smooth jazz, jazz, funky, Bossa Nova, etc. etc. CONCLUSION: The result is marvelous. Thanks for your brilliant reaction.
Hello David. I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina like Ka7riel (a name that paraphrases that of an indigenous chief) and Paco Amoroso. I am 64 years old and I also listened to "Brain Salad Surgery" by ELP which contains a song by another great Argentine composer of contemporary classical music, he was Alberto Ginastera and the song that ELP performs is the "Toccata" that appears on side A of the album. I found this to be an interesting fact. Thank you for your attention.
Yes!! You have to visit our country! Good music, good food and good people in every place you visit! Buenos aires, Mendoza, Córdoba, Patagonia are some really nice places to stay out
Hi! here from argentina, these 2 studied music. I always findedd hard to listen to their studio albums/songs (but because of the production and etc). When i heard them here like in an "analogic" mode, it blew my fckin mind. The groove is so tight. And wha'ts weird is that an insane ammount of people is starting to get to know them because of the tiny desk, wich shows their potential. Amazing!
I loved this! I really wanted to see your reaction to this song in particular (and the last one of this tiny too) because I knew you, as a musician yourself, would have a very especial view on it. Thank you!
Paco Amoroso (birth name Ulises Guerriero) is 31 years old. Ca7triel (Catriel Guerreiro) is also 31 years old. They're friends since they were 6 year olds and both studied classical music in the conservatory in Buenos Aires. They're not unos aparecidos, they're very well versed in music.
Shed thank you for your great job and reaction and passion!!!! I suscribed And a lot of much more music Argentina Spinetta, Charly García, Soda Stereo, Sumo, Eruca Sativa, Babasónicos, Illia Kuryaki and the Valderramas and much more Thanks!!!!

Speaking about Argentinian music quality. Have you ever listened to “Soda Stereo”? One of our greatest bands ever. Try to react to some of their live presentations 👌
Oh, well, yes. If he'd really like to explore music from here, both Soda Stereo but specially Gustavo Cerati's (main vocalist of the band that went solo) work are the best Argentina had ever had to offer. I think he might really enjoy "Cactus", it's basically and anthem here. I'm still to meet people here who doesn't like Soda or Cerati as a soloist. Even my little sister, and her classmates and friends, have discovered them and fell in love with many songs. They are barely 11. I still cannot believe the phenomenom they are and how they keep on passing on from generation to generation. It must be what my mom felt when I started to listen to them with friends when I was little (I'm 27 now). I remember crying a lot when Cerati died. Micheal Jackson had already been bad enough. I guess I was quite the crybaby, because I also cried when I found out Freddy Mercury was dead. Queen was also a big part of my childhood, and one day I had the brilliant idea to ask if we could go see them, and if I could hug Freddy if we went. Of course it didn't occur to me he died before I was even born, so well, I was little and very shocked hahaha.
ELP could also be Estudiantes de La Plata, a futbol team from La Plata city in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Greetings from Saint Michael of Tucuman.
Hi! Greetings from Mexico. I really recommend you checking Illya Kuriaki and The Valderramas, they are a 90s duo that is in some sense, a spiritual past of Ca7riel and paquito. One of them (Dante Spinetta) is the son of one of Argentina's greatest and most loved jazz musicians of all time. Like paquito, they were making satire of 90s hip hop scene while mixing jazz, metal, funk and a lot of fun
i wonder if he's hot in that hat" killed me! lol (that was me wondering that also! Ididn't know you before this reactions and you have quickly became one of my favourites!) It would be so interesting for you yo compare the tiny desk song with the studio album version because they are soooo different and yet both so mindblowing. PS both Paco and Catriel are 31, they met in school
Please can you react to "Number One Girl" by Rosé. It's a new song, a ballad and will definitely love to hear your reaction to it especially her vocals
Hello, from this already famous Tini Desk by Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso, I discovered your reactions. I tell you that these guys have pleasantly surprised me in this show. I'm not such a fan of his released music, but I did become a fan of this Tini. I would like to recommend other Argentine musicians (I hope you like it as much as I do. Warm greetings from Scotland. ❤

Mi deseo = My desire
The drummer is Eduardo Giardina, you have to listen to his solo material, such as ''Giardina Babylon'' !
Edu es una bestia total
I"am chilean but you should react to Luis Alberto Spinetta from Argentina, is the most talented latino composer for me.
Just an FYI, the whole band was hit with a flu like illness they had to work through as the performance approached. By the time they hit the stage Paco was really feeling it, hence the hat and low key voice issues. Still what a performance.
Definitely listen to the last song they performed! La Que Puede, Puede ❤
Por supuesto! La que puede puede! lo mas!!
My fav song of this Tiny Desk!
Alguien sabe xq no reacciono todavia? jaja
paco amoroso the green hat guy is 31 years old lol

Steve Wonder, Michael Jackson
Don't forget the great Stevie Wonder...
ELP (Emerson Lake and Palmer) Estudiante de La Plata
Jajajajajajaja buenardo

They're touring USA in April-May next year!

For those who don't know, the bass line is from I Wish by Stevie Wonder. Should definitely know it if you don't know it 😁
I talk about that in my review!
@MusicShed Yes! Just wanted to share the magic of Stevie Wonder with others who might not know since you didn't name it
OMG, indeed! And I just thought I knew it from somewhere!
Funny considering the other part of the song is called Mi deseo. Genial!
Stevie Wonder needs to jam with these guys. All of them.

Looking forward to the last part of this Tiny Desk!
English translation of "Mi deseo" Is "My wish".
Or My desire. It depends of the context.
Cool how it goes into the same bass line as “I wish” by Stevie wonder
Outstanding and so much fun. What a sound, what a vibe...love it
Love your reaction. Thank you for this, and for your appreciation of our artists.
Can’t wait for u to react to their last song from the tiny desk 🙌
i seen this band in my little town 1 month before this tiny desk, they sound even better on live
Funk section in this song is one of the tightest band performances I've heard in a long time.

Now that I see your Jinjer T-shirt, catriel has a metal band, named "Barro"
hat, diegote t-shirt > paco
guitarra > catriel

they met at school (1˚ grado - 6 years old)
If it's not the best Tiny, it's one of the best 🎉
Love your reactions. The song is actually q mix of two songs: mi deseo which means my wish (paco sings) and bad bitch (catriel)
Both are 30-ish
Paco is in the hat and he is 31. Ca7riel is 30
Your reactions are so genuine and spontaneous haha, loved it!
If you dive into argentine artists, you'll find music gems, that's for sure!

the first part is "mi deseo - paco amoroso", and the second part is "bad bitch". this tiny desk is one of the best made in 2024!
