You have made the most accurate and easy video so far. I was missing two critical steps in the set that I caught by following your video. This is a fantastic radio once you figure it out
Thanks for sharing. I spent several hours last night with no success and only hearing stations. This morning I will follow you directions. Will let you know how I do. 73. K2MR
Thanks so much for this! Because of you, I only wasted an hour on this problem… Without your video God only knows how many hours it would've taken me! 73 de Robert K3RRR
I spent almost a month trying to make Dstar work, had a back-n-forth with support that is over 15 reply long, and still couldn't make it work. THIS was the problem. Many thanks for your comment. Good grief, that was simple, makes perfect sense. Even Support at Icom never mentioned it, they did point out I had to have one space there. They told me one space more than once. Lol, TY, Man!
Andy, please may I ask what hotspot you are using with Icom 9700 also what power are you using? can you overload hotspot? I am a real newbie to DSTAR. I have Peanut DMR on my Win 10 PC. 73 Phil G0BVD North Devon
It's a Blue DV Mega using the Blue DV for Windows by PA7LIM. I bought it a couple of years ago now. There are better options around now, but it works very well.
Your video title and content is mis-leading. You video is not about adding a hotspot to the IC-9700 but it’s about what you did, after the Fact. You should have walked people through entering data. An intelligent person would know the difference between doing and showing. You video is less than useful. You wasted my time.
@@adamg1zhd I also was expecting the software portion however I learned a portion of what's to be done. I am getting me a ZUMspot RPi Nextion 3.5 Kit in a couple of days. Thanks for the time to create the video. NN3RP

On my 9700 i just put the frequency in to a memory channel pressed DV mode and it worked.

Success. Thank you Adam. Your video made the difference. I got on 30 Charlie and had a nice qso. Still much to learn. 73. Ron.
Ron, drop me your call-sign and hopefully we can have a QSO sometime. Cheers

The 'B' after your callsign needs to be the eighth character so mine is "G4PDFB"

3:40 is key to a frustrating problem. Thank you.

Hi Philip. Same here, not sure which way to go regarding Hotspots here, its all mind boggling!
@@NToombes Hi Neil, do agree would be nice to put the 9700 to full use we have no DSTAR in North Devon
Philip Oakley Yes, same here. Still reviewing options but looks like I can get a solution for £100
Wondering why your Icom 9700 has "DIGiTAL" written below the screen center? All the 9700's I have seen have "D-Star" printed there.
Anyone know?
Good question, I've absolutely no idea.
Think it's the ones sold in Europe that say digital.
dont you just turn off the lower sub band and then you can select any DV frequency 144,432,1296.. thats easiest way
Hi Andy, when I click on DR mode screen reads not repeater found, do I need to have an either cable connented first?
No, no need for an eithenet cable. Sounds like you do not have any repeaters loaded. I hope you managed to resolve this by now.
@@adamg1zhd I have the same issue, It is loaded and saved yet shows "No repeater found" on any bands... I tried all bands. :(
So what’s next. I’m new to dstar I have the hotspot in and set to 30/c I can hear but no one can hear me.
Are you registered as a D-Star user?
Make an video on acess point that works..? how to setup right. :-) theer is videos. but dont work for me.
Whete are you getting stuck, what hotspot are you using?
