  • This is a new feature that was added to my IC9700 when I decided to update the firmware. It has been out for a few months now from what I have seen. Just another reason this radio is so cool. I have been using it almost every day for SSB, Dstar and FM simplex. This can also be exchanged between other Dstar radios that utilize the app for data incase you do not own a 9700, like the ID5100 and ID51. By connecting your tablet or phone to your capable Icom Dstar radio, you can have pictures sending in the background while you are talking. Or have an exclusive DSTAR picture net every week. :)

    It's good to see the hobby constantly evolving. what a interesting feature this is.
    Now they need to make the 7300 do sstv without the use of a p.c. haha.
    Thanks to sharing keep up the good work. Vk4pie.

    For missing pixels on large, low quality images, you can use some software to interpolate them based off of context of other pixels.

      You can use the FREE Android ICOM app on your Android phone via Bluetooth in the KENWOOD D74 and it works. NO ICOM DSTAR radio comes with BLUETOOTH built-in. You can buy a Bluetooth card for your ICOM5100 to use it.

    • @brunomarado8741
      @brunomarado8741 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ALLL DSTAR radios can send and receive pictures. The older ones need to use a cable to connect to your Mobile/tablet to send the pictures. I do it with my old IC-2820, and my ID-51.

  • @mskurnik
    @mskurnik 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can do this with the TH-D74A with the RS-MS1A app on Android as well. Bluetooth transfer to the radio.

    • @HamRadioConcepts
      @HamRadioConcepts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, but I think the cool thing is its in the radio no app needed, like if you loaded the SDcard up with images, and was able to receive and send photos while you use the radio

    • @mskurnik
      @mskurnik 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I think the only other radios that support that are the yaesu FT2D and FT3D radios as they also have the speaker mic that has the camera built in. It is something that could be conceivably added to the TH-D74 since it has a SD Card.

    What antenna do you use for SSB? Are you only on 2m SSB or 70cm, or both? I put up 2 stacked PAR Omniangle 2m antennas on my roof. So far, I've only gotten out 30 miles, and there hasn't been much activity on 2m SSB. I was more hopeful than what I've seen so far.

    • @bruehlt
      @bruehlt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting that you are using the ST-4001A software. It would be super nice if the RS-MS1A software worked over the network as well, vs requiring the use of the proprietary USB cable that costs a bundle.

    4:27 packets. Interesting. I got a license, but haven't used it. I was going to apply my cs background into this... but I talked to an old HAM that was giving the clases.. and I think it's not allowed to send things like this. Well because in order to send/receive to an individual you'd have to use encryption that way an intended receiver would get the "head" and "tail" and all the "packets" in order. That's just like mobile devices. But imagine that we started to do this, well the billionaires would get the f see see and fehz all over it would they. What a world we live in where money controls freedom. What a bummer.
