Chrissy Costanza performed both Legends Never Die and Phoenix. She has been a huge fan of the game for years, so its nice she was able to become part of the history.
G2 was playing with a home crowed advantage, and on the verge of finishing on a golden road. They won their regional winter split, regional spring split, and summer split - all 3 in first place. Furthermore, they won the international Mid Season Invitational. (A baby version of worlds, in the middle of the year). They were 3 games away of winning EVERYTHING and being the first team to do so ever in the history of league of legends. They lost 3-0.
To clarify some points, in League of Legends championships, teams are competing during 1 year in different regions to qualify at the end of the year for the worlds. Strongest ones are South Korea and China, they basically won EVERY worlds, Europe and North America are just behind, they are the 4 major regions, all the others qualify 1, sometimes 2 teams. Worlds 2019 were in Paris with a European team in finale, wich is rare, and even more rare they were considered as one of the best team, they won against big Korean and chinese team, so yes the public are completely for them, everyone in the crowd were for them (even if they lost 3-0 with only 1 really good game, everyone were silent at the end lmao). I'm french and I was there, others opening are incredible too but they mix reality with virtual (thte crowd can only see it on big screens) here we didn't need any glasses, the scene is surrounded by transparent screens and special effects are displayed on it, the crowd can see everything with their own eyes
If you interested, there is a documentary about how Riot Games made this Worlds called "10 months, 10 minutes". So much work was done for it to happen, and they still wasn't sure it goes as planned until ceremony end
@@YayReacts Caps was also one of the players on the stage, and in the phoenix music video, playing in the finals. He was the guy left of the person holding the flag(crazy cheers for him).
Phoenix is one of those League cinematic songs that always gets me. With the life struggles that I've worked through... honestly over my entire life, but especially here within the last several years, that whole sense of holding onto who I am, despite how hard the world... and my own internal monologue tries to tear me down is a very powerful theme for me. It hasn't always been easy, but the key is to never stop trying. Also, in this cinematic, the three people who are featured are players who lost to the team who won the previous year's championship, so it is fundamentally about them having to pull through and overcome to not let that defeat destroy their confidence.
So, the trophies you see the teams holding are the trophies from their regional leagues, which they both won. FPX is from the LPL (China) and G2 is from the LEC (Europe). That's also the reason cheers were so much louder for G2 because they are essentially the home team with the finals being held in Paris. Note: The LoL Worlds Tournament is held in a different region every year typically rotating between Korea, China, Europe and North America since those are the major regions.
So the idea behind the song and the video is that the 3 players, are fighting their inner demons, negative emotions and thoughts that are holding them back, this is then translated into the game as evil versions of their characters, essentially saying they are now "fighting themselves". Then of course it concludes with them rising up and beating their inner demons to become the best they can be to compete in the championship.
So, this finals are usually BO5= Best Of Five Games, which means whatever team wins 3 games, wins it, each game takes roughly 30 minutes to be over, so the whole match can last from 1h30 from 2h30 plus some minutes here and there
Riot brought the best technology and the best minds for the projection part of those show. You can sorta see the screen at 08:40. Also worth watching the behind the scenes video of this Worlds opening titled “10 months, 10 minutes”
Did you notice that the guy on 17:01 is the second real person that appears in the phoenix music video? He is one of the best players in the world to this days and, like Faker, apears in multiple world championship videos.
G2 were the home team so to speak, hence the louder cheers. They are a team that plays regular seasons in Europe. FPX the other team is a team from China. I don't see them much from reactors, I think mostly because unless you follow the game, some of the information is hard to follow. If you liked the 'hype' from this opening though, you might like the "Moments and Memories" videos from the world championships. Specifically 2016, and last years 2022 were good years in my opinion.
Phoenyx is my favorite song from Worlds, because of the message it has. This time we will not show the winners, but rather those who lost and were left at the gates of glory and are now battling with themselves to try again.
Nice. Worlds song finally got an approval rating lol. The ceremonies are mostly amazing though, if not an epilepsy check. Demographic: That was a Chinese team vs a European team. In France so of course G2 (the EU team) got louder cheers. Anyways great reaction
A game can be 15 minutes up to like hours. the longest in the history of the esport from league was 94 minutes and 37 seconds and that was only 1 game out of the 3 games that team had to play in 2018
That's a very wide perspective tho. Back in the day games used to take longer, nowadays ( for like the last 5 years) a professional game usually runs between 30 and 45 minutes, with some going above 45 and some going below 30, it's incredibly rare having a game reaching the hour nowadays
Little fact, the effects of the opening ceremony of that year did not need virtual reality or augmented reality glasses, people could see all the effects with the naked eye, to achieve these effects Riot used a Holonet that projected the effects as a hologram. There is a video of Riot that explains the whole process of the final, if it catches your attention I recommend you to watch it, it is really interesting, you can watch it off camera if you don't want to make a reaction, but I really recommend you to watch it if it catches your attention.
the cheers are louders, because it's their home team (as it's taking place in france in 2019 - it's been a while since not just Korean and Chinese team dominated the finals xd) and it's a best of 5 in the finals, with commentary and analysis in between, so a full finals event can go between ~5 to 9~h about the tropies. there isn't only the world cup. the torunaments leading up to that (in EU case spring and summer split) respectivly can be won (1st place) and there are also other tropies given out for MVPs and "best in X-achievement" kind of trophies plus there are other mid season events, not tying in with the ranking or points or anything of the main "world tournament"
Fun fact: That trophy box had technical issues on the day and would not open so that's why the moment it was supposed to open, camera was going around. Riot had no plan b for this; it was a win or lose moment. Also you have to play for 30-45 mins depending how you guys play and depending on how long you can get objectives for. Quickest a game can run is 15-20 mins. I think here, everyone can see the holograms. Also no, the trophy is set before the teams win or lose in the Finals.
still hurts that final... I'm a big fan of G2 and I hope one day can see G2 again in a worlds final and of course caps (the guy in the minute 17:01) can finally win (because he lost 2 worlds 😭)
the team people were cheering louder for (G2) were the first european team to reach the world finals in 8 years. they beat the odds at every step to make it there, the finals are dominated by asian teams as they tend to be just insanely talented. G2 were BIG crowd favourites but unfortunately lost (it still hurts 5 years later)
In league we play as Regions lpl = china, LCK = korea, LEC = Europe, LCS = North America many others but those the main regions with Korea and China being the best. The one you watched was a final between EU G2 and China FPX so its in a European country so its home even though they may not be french. This years worlds is late September early november start i think in Berlin, Paris and finals in London.
As a european fan we are Aware how it ended 😢. G2 got the bigger cheers since the event was in europe and they are a european team. In the end we lost to FPX, funnily enough their teamname was Fun Plus Phoenix.
13:46 there is no time limit on the game, they just need to destroy specific thing of enemy thing it can last from even 6 minutes to something like 2 or more hours.
League of legends worlds in terms of attendance sell more tickets than traditional sports finals. They completely sell out the arenas they are at most years. Venues will compete to host worlds because it’s big money for them. The trophies the teams already have are the trophies from their region which got them to worlds. I believe worlds finals lasts 3 days but I’m not too sure
The trophies you saw were the Winners of there Leagues. Every Region have they own League system. FPX is Chinese and they won the Split as 1. Place. G2 became 1. Place in the European League.
This time it wasn't AR where you needed your phone. They used something similar to see through screens that created the ilusion. Everybody could see it.
react to all worlds opening. after that, react to all CBLOL opening ceremonies. CBLOL is the brazilian championship, which their opening ceremonies are incredible.
Fun fact, a 3rd seed Chinese team that literally had "Phoenix" in their team name won worlds that year 😂 it was destined. Edit: I see now you watched the team introductions at the end so you probably already knew this hahaha. Anyway the crowd was really hyped for the second team because Worlds was in Europe that year and a European team had made the finals for the first time in many seasons
Honestly, you getting the songs mixed up is not a big deal. It's kinda cute. I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Thank goodness! I almost didn’t even upload my reaction because I was that embarrassed 😭

Phoenix showing these 3 famous champion fails and their rising always get me. 2019 def my favourite.
2019 was great! Looks like Phoenix is my Worlds song winner 😁
@@YayReacts Caps was also one of the players on the stage, and in the phoenix music video, playing in the finals. He was the guy left of the person holding the flag(crazy cheers for him).
There's a very thin net around the whole stage area that they projected the "holograms" into. The audience could see it.

Only a correction: the trophy G2 has is the MSI trophy, they were 3 games away for the Golden Road
@@blerimbadolli5634 So close to glory :(
G2 and caps really deserve to win worlds at least one time
