30s in the video, i paused to say that necrit loves it when people react to his channel he even uploaded a video about this saying it is good that people react to it
It is a lot of lore, but remember, league has been around well over a decade. Where we have been up to date, you're just jumping in even if you've been learning it is okay to be a bit overwhelmed. It is indeed a lot, there was a time in league where Sunmoners were real in lore and summoned these champions like pokemon lol.
You should absolutely react to necrit video: The world of riots mmo is already done Or something along the lines. It realy gives you an good glimpse of all the regions cultures and themes there are in this universe. And I love seeing people reacting to it due to how informative it is. Also if you didn’t yet, you should absolutely react to bridging the rift aka the behind the scenes for arcane aswell before season 2 starts
Already recommended it to her, but he names the region, Arcane is taking place and describes it, so i recommended her to watch arcane first if she wants to explore the vibe of the region by herself.
A complex world isn't always good, but the key to games holding your attention for long periods is a deep, vast layering of stories, some even hidden away, to keep you discovering new things time after time. Some of the greatest games I've ever played, it doesn't matter if I've beat the game 10 times before, I still discover something new about the world.
As with any good (fantasy) worldbuilding, a lot of lore is only implied, hence the theories. It's not that they come out of nowhere, but some things in the story are deliberately not stated outright. The lore itself is also not really that complicated, but there is tons of it, it can't really be found in once place and, since the lore is getting updated through various means, it sometimes (quite often, frankly) leads to plot holes which then need to be addressed... which doesn't always happen. As a simple example, take the yordles - the little furry people. In the first iteration of the lore, they were actually 2 different races - the yordles and the meglings - but after a lore update they got merged into yordles and were just considered to be a normal race living in that world. Then, after a different lore update, the yordles got more weird and fairy-like, apparently using magic to appear human when interacting with humans. Ok, fair enough. THEN, Legends of Runeterra, the card game which is considered lore-friendly, started having yordles all over the world appearing as their short, furry selves, making it seem like they don't actually change their appearance, while the lore still stated that they do. Finally, Arcane came, and there the yordles also didn't change their appearance, after which Riot just said that's canon and they don't actually do that, even though some of the old stories still aren't updated and it seems like they do. It can get very messy and frustrating.
Fun about Aatrox: Yes he was sealed in his sword but a mortal picked up his sword and he controlled the mortal's mind and reformed his body. That's when he started going rampage and gets his storyline with Tryndamere (the black haired man in Still Here cinematic). But at this time Aatrox is still sealed which means he had to get sealed a second time. If you watched the "Still Here" cinematic you see Aatrox fighting Morgana and Kayle. It is theorized that was the moment he got sealed the second time.
Imagine an RPG about the world before and during the Rune Wars. Entirely new cast of characters and regions across Runeterra, with some great easter-egg opportunities (the Aspects/Acended and Ryze of course) I'd play the hell out of that.
There's so much cool lore in LoL. My favorite is Mt. Targon, both for the conflict of the Solari vs Lunari, Leona vs Diana, and the later mission of Aphelios and Alune to save their people. Excited for Arcane!
every champion they introduce they have to create a story around and about that character, its family, history, powers, future, present, and more. so it does get complicated. they are a bunch of characters too that are not yet in the game or will never be in the game but they still have story on themselves too, gods too, skins of the champions as well are telling a story about them too. it really gets huge when its a game thats been here for more than a decade
Oh, In the call cinematic, they were not Volibear they were Arsine (Followers of the Demigod Volibear). If Volibear himself was there it would be an unfair fight.
LoL, lore is so interesting because they made it complicated and mysterious. For example, if you read Fiddlesticks or Jhin biography or story,, it's all about others perspective, myth, and events. They will make you feel that they all came from myth but Riot could easily write those stories from their viewpoint and genuine facts and that would be just a simple game lore story but now it feels like real. Feels like you wanna know more about them or even imagine how they are.
Necrits videos are really good for telling information about the world or its champions, and the way he tells it is so interesting id like to see more necrit reactions too lol
Graham McNeill and a bunch of other amazing writers: We'll build an amazing intricate world for almost 10 years. Riot execs: Hurr, this netflix show got good numbers, throw everything we've got away.
So, Demacia: Sylas, and new magic war. Piltower/Zaun - Jinx? Vi? URGOT? Idk. Frelyord - Udyr Ionia - Jhin, the master of FOUR. Maybe slightly Kayn, with his own darkin Rhaast. Aatrox: "Varus, V A R U S. Where is your double A, VARUS?! There was a memo, Varus. THERE WAS A MEMO!" Targon - war of Solari and Lunari - Diana, Leona.
It's only theory because it's never specifically mentioned what the grand intentions of the celestials are, so all we have is a best guess based on (sometimes obvious) insinuations. I personally believe the celestials and watchers are similar, and that the celestials are also sending fighters through the rifts (Aurelian Sol is only closing the rifts against his own will, so that lightly suggests he wants the rifts to remain open). Riot Games has always been obsessed with "are we the baddies?!" scenarios, and it would not surprise me if this was building into that. Maybe the celestials are creating the rifts, and the watchers are just trying to close them? It's just very suspicious how boldly Riot has painted the Void as the bad guys.
Well right now in Targon, Aurelions control is slowly fading and soon he'll be freed, in Noxus the ressurection of Mordekaiser is at Hand, in Demacia the Mages are rebelling, In the North Frejlord the Lissandra is preparing for the watchers, In the south Shuriman on top of the massive void rift Xerath was freed and is preparing for war against Azir, In Ionia due to Noxus invading it left enough emotional trauma that the Demons began feeding on the negative emotions of the Ionians and began manifesting in the Rune terra, the Shadow Isles currently have no movements because Thresh left and so did Hecarim while Viego was sealed back in his home kingdom of Camavor, Bligewater has no events so far.
We basically been following this story over 10 years. Everytime a new champion comes out we get another small part of this huge story. Like for instance you asked what happened to the to the shadow ilse. I think he made this video before the champion Viego came out. And when he came out it was an event (The Ruination) that explained how the shadow ilse came to be. Basically Viego wanted to resurrect his wife which went badly and caused a huge commotion with dark magic and correcupted the Blessed Ilse ( shadow ilse now). Also stuff like the Darkin and Aatrox, as new Darkin champions come out we find out more about teh story. How the Darkin was tricked into learning blood magic then they were forced to be sealed into weapons where they can't die. And the aspects and God warriors are a bit different. The aspects are Humans that are possessed by a god. While the God warriors are humans that where transformed to be gods. But since they were humans they couldn't fully become gods so they call them demi-gods. But yeah you mostly just follow the story of a Champion you like and it connects you to another and somehow someway everything is connected.
Also check out the video of him explaing how LOL world is done for the MMO. It should be spoiler friendly. But it do mention in which part of the world that the show arcane took place.
The ruination is modern runeterra history. At this point it should be about 3 or 5 years after the battle of placidium, simply because Irelia, yasou and karma is said to be involved in both stories.
Being confused at the League lore is very reasonable. I can guarantee that we all are, even people like Necrit who has spent a lot of time reading and researching every single part of it. The biggest problem with the lore of League is how bad Riot sometimes are at keeping it consistent. After 10+ years even they end up confused and forgetting things which leads to different equally canon stories contradicting each other. This problem is then made much more severe when you have to take into account the fact that Riot needs to keep releasing new characters for the game. Characters which need their own stories and background, but didn't exist when any of the previous lore was written. Sometimes they can fit them in pretty seamlessly into existing stories and sometimes it's throwing a wrench into massive parts of the lore. And as if that wasn't enough there's the unfortunate fact that Riot is a company, focused on making money. While having a good consistent story is nice, having money is usually even better. This can be seen with things like Arcane. Arcane is probably one of the best, if not the best, piece of League media ever released. But it does not fit into current lore at all. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially since I don't think it could have been even half as good if it had to strictly follow to established lore. But when Arcane became a smash hit Riot had a choice to make. How does Arcane fit in with the rest of the League story? At first we were told that Arcane was kinda it's own separate universe, using characters from the main canon but changing things as necessary to fit the story being told. This worked ok for the lore itself, maybe not the most elegant solution but oh well. Then, a bit later, we got new information. Keeping track of one "universe" for the lore was already hard and expensive enough, having each instance of media (Arcane, LoR, the Riot Forge games, etc), be their own was just too much. They were also cutting down on staff and a lot of writing staff got fired. So from that point onwards what was "canon" changed. Now, everything released from that point onwards should be considered canon while everything which came before it was "tentative". The only exception was Arcane which now also was canon. So what I'm trying to say is that this entire video is based on lore which technically isn't canon anymore. Whatever lore ends up becoming canon after this is most likely not going to be too different, at least not in the broader picture, but the lore is kind of on ice for now as we wait and see what Riot are going to do next. I'm very cautiously hopeful for the future, with how good Arcane was. But I'm also worried because that show cost like $100 million to make and there's no way they're spending that for every future piece of lore we're getting.
Setaka one of the LoL charecter who was Leader of Shuriman ascended army and general of Icathia war but after the horror of Icathian void war they didn't explain what happened to her I mean they mentioned she died that was it mostly. I always wanted to know more about her.
Yay : "How much brain power you have to have to remember all of this. Me : knowing, every champion, every spell of every champion, most of their cooldowns, how they work, and how to play them all. Also Me : BOW BEFORE MY HUMONGUOUS BRAIN POWER !!
This is slightly outdated since Camavor is revealed as a 2nd continent, Valoran is the only continent on the time of the creation of this video and the Ruination was not yet tackled here.
The answer to your question why they wanted to create such a massive lore world is actually not what u think. In the early days of the game and as the champion pool started to expand there was pretty mutch no lore, all there was was small character descriptions that made sense to the overall design of the champion. But then as ppl started to make fan art and story fictions more and more ppl wanted to know where these characters were from and if possable how would the characters from the same region interact with eachother or what would happen if they did. Eventually Riot started to expand the champions descriptions to the point that now we have this massive lore world. It dident start becouse Riot wanted to create it becouse when it comes to a MOBA game your never gonna se anything more then the playable maps so creating a whole world for it makes little sense. It started as a side project within Riot when the players wanted to know more of a characters history and overtime the more details that got added u could make a more and more accurate picture of how the world looked like and thats what we are at now. It all started with some lines of character descriptions and it blow up from there.
Shambits Gaming channel has a few lore videos about some regions, if you wanna learn more about an specific region. Really recommend doing Aurelion Sol reaction too
u should rewatch the shurima glass sculpture storytelling cinematics. the story where sivir goes down into a tomb with cassiopeia. the stories narrator is none other than Nasus. the only ascended that didnt got corrupted by the void. and who couldnt control the ascended whith no leader when emperor Azir died. The one that went into hiding after that ordeal. Just a tought

@@clcantu95 What do you mean? Both LoL and Warframe still have a dedicated playerbase. Warframe's lore is in my opinion the best of any videogame ever. Playing "The New War" quest is such an experience. If you never played it, you have no Idea what you are missing. And not to mention it is completely free.
So, Darkins in the game: AAtrox, rhAAst, nAAfiri, vArus. Aatrox: Varus, where is your double a thing?! There must be vAArus! The double AA thing! There was a memo, Varus. THERE WAS A MEMO!
I think it suffers from good set up but no pay off. Kinda like Overwatch: setting up some climatic battle or return but never moving towards that or what comes after. Pretty much, LoL has good background/lore but not much plot/story.
Still Here reaction will be out next week and then it is Arcane time 🔥
ARCANEEEE LETS GO!!!! Season 2 out in November as well so you won't have to wait that long
Hell Yeah!! Waiting
It is the best cinematic yet. Absolutely beautiful
Still here, Arcane reactions, and WORLDS starting next week? Early Christmas indeed 🖤🖤🖤

Watchers: I'm tryna' fuckin' sleep, bro.
Lmao
It's like those 2 kids in Meet The Robinsons.
i can't blame the watchers. For them, runeterra is like that neighbor with a chainsaw at 6 am in a fuckn' sunday
The Rune Wars are what Heimer was thinking of when he was being paranoid about magic
The way I can now understand this reference 😁🙌🏼

@@Shythalia We have started the Arcane journey over on Patreon!

About time you got around to this video by Necrit. Really explains everything well for an entry to Riots lore.
The LoL rabbit hole is insane but we finally got to it haha
No lissandra wasn't in The call cinematic that was Sejuani who is believed to be descended of Seryalda (One of the 3 Sisters)

@@YayReacts oh :(
If you think LoL lore is complicated, Warframe lore would break you both mentally and emotionally.
Play a better game
@@clcantu95 What do you mean? Both LoL and Warframe still have a dedicated playerbase. Warframe's lore is in my opinion the best of any videogame ever. Playing "The New War" quest is such an experience. If you never played it, you have no Idea what you are missing. And not to mention it is completely free.
I recommend you watch How powerful are champions according to lore? By Necrit.
God forbid no
That video is hella outdated and inaccurate
AAtrox: "So, vArus. A bow and two boys?
What was your plan, vArus?"
So, out of context it fills... Interesting
So, Darkins in the game:
AAtrox, rhAAst, nAAfiri, vArus.
Aatrox: Varus, where is your double a thing?! There must be vAArus! The double AA thing! There was a memo, Varus. THERE WAS A MEMO!
Mam can you react to the "Necrit LoL champion power ranking Lore" video ? plz
the lore of lol is very poor in my opinion
I think it suffers from good set up but no pay off. Kinda like Overwatch: setting up some climatic battle or return but never moving towards that or what comes after.
Pretty much, LoL has good background/lore but not much plot/story.
