Hello. Thanks for the information. Regarding using the third party apps for the reels, do you first just record a video from your phone and then use the editor to create it how you want? I wasn't sure if I needed another app to record the video as well. Thanks
Yes use your built in camera then upload those videos to the third party app. You’ll then build a timeline of your videos and you can adjust them to be in order. Trim each clip and the sky is the limit for how simple or advanced of an edit you want.
Love your vids Justin, have been following for some time. Q: I no longer have a 'preview' button and I cannot change the audio for individual clips in my reel. I need this function so that I can emphasise particular moments in a reel (for band videos when we want to highlight a moment by increasing camera audio but only momentarily). I can only apply whichever audio setting I select (ie camera or imported music) to the entirety of the reel. Is this a new insta update and do you have any workaround suggestions? Tia!

Screen record the music from instagram, play it in your 3rd party app. Then once all alligned, remove it.
Add it on instagram, it will match and will pass any copyright

I've heard that Instagram pushes the shorter reels which is kinda disappointing to me. I think I would enjoy slightly longer ones. I enjoy making longer ones.
When it’s short it usually replays unless you have some that catches people’s attention they will most likely skip it

question, if you use a video editiing app to do a reel how would you line it up with the music inside the reel for example every time the beat hits and the camera changes in sync with it, how would that be done via a 3rd parry app? any help would be greatly appreciated

what version of instagram are you using because i do not see these features on mine
I have a question. I see a lot of reels that have crazy transitions but are edited perfectly with the music from Instagram. Is there an app with Spotify playlists or do they download the music then edit on 3rd party app? Thank you!!
Something I've done and have seen other people do is to just record into your computer audio with your phone speaker(the quality will be bad but that doesn't matter). That allows you line up everything with timing since you have the music, then you mute the clip and then align it with the music on Instagram where the quality will be good.

Can I use a dslr to record my content (probably best in a vertical orientation ). And use a NLE desktop program such as Premiere or FCP. Then import to my phone? Will those methods work also?
I was able to use files from my digital mirrorless camera to make reels, even when I shot in landscape (although in editing I lost a lot when converting to portrait) I have NOT been able to use files from my drone to make reels Instagram just won't let me. I'm not sure what the issue is....if it's forbidden or I'm doing something wrong...
Hey! You can definitely do that! Pro tip: export the videos as mp4 so they work on your phone the best 👍
Question, please: REELS. Each time I use the 60 option on length - and upload 2-3 videos (say 44 sec. or less) - IG is truncating them. If my videos are 30 seconds - IG only posts 20 seconds to REELS. Each time I'm noticing important parts that wanted to be in the REEL - they're just missing (truncated). What can I do to fix this? (I've logged out -checked updates, etc.) Nothing helps. | Thanks!

Hi Justin. Great video. I just have one question. I’m using vn and wondering how to get portrait videos through story blocks. All the videos I see. Are landscape and they don’t fit very well for my reels. Appreciate any advice you have. Thanks
Thank you very much. I need to create content for my products. I have been editing videos on various softwares since 2005. Editing through a mobile app makes me feel limited. Trimming, color grading, doing voice over with an external microphone sound much easier to me. Unfortunately I couldn’t find an instagram friendly editing software. Especially vertical reels output cause a lot of problem even experienced users. Should I stick to softwares like Premiere Pro or adapt this new trend? I am not sure. There must be a way to use a desktop software to create content for instagram.
