It's rare to find a channel where you are excited to see what they will publish next! It shows through that you are actually wanting to help people rather than just giving generic "success" tips. It's really refreshing and helpful.
I love that you don't worry about shallow things like perfectly curated hashtags and timing. All of that superficial stuff is suuuuuch a turnoff to wanting to spread creativity.
This is so incredibly helpful. I've watched hundreds of videos and I've never gotten REAL, step by step directions. Some of these moments aren't the most fun or entertaining, but this is how to truthfully edit. It is a process. This isn't generic or superficial. I love it. I feel like you're a friend of mine showing me the real way and the " behind the scenes" on video creation. Thank you so much for the value packed content
I’m in a bit of a challenging situation: because of life circumstances I’ve been living for a year in a different country with a very difficult language that I am slowly but steadily learning. I’ve opened an online handmade jewelry shop with my best friend who creates amazing jewelry, and obviously the page is in English because I don’t speak the local language yet. It has proven quite difficult to target the local audience in a language that is not their native one, but I’ve studied your channel and your videos carefully, I took notes, and now we finally have sales via our insta shop rather than via facebook marketplace! It is so important for us to be able to set a brandname, to bring beauty and joy to the people who admire our jewelry! Thank you so much for you help, Katie, it’s invaluable.
If you don’t have a camera I highly suggest filming in 4K on your phone and downloading an editing app. Export in 1080 tho because IG is wonky. I thought I was the only one screen recording song lol. Good one Katie!
I'm actually obsessed with you and your channel. You're so wholesome and helpful and soo motivating. I feel like I can't binge your content fast enough LOL
Wow, this is just such valuable content! I don't know where you learned all this, but aside from your outstanding personality and rhetorical skills - you are just so creative and good at storytelling! Thank you so much and cheers
I liked your short and concise narration like 'people may drop the phone' and immediate take action or 'click save button' ! Which is so well trimmed to convey the message, without being descriptive about it, well done! Thank you for some useful tips!
If you are exporting iphone footage to your desktop - you can also import the videos to photos on your laptop and then drag the videos from the photos app to your desktop and it will convert them to a usable codec. (Obviously if you need just one clip for yourself, you can use the Rush methodology, but if you are looking for something else this is what has worked for me!)
Your videos make it so much easier for my brain to process. I have wicked adhd, own my own micro bakery and teach about it all. Being able to understand everything is what has always held me back from doing what I want, teaching online full time 💖
As I sit and start learning how to get more serious with my social media work you’ve really become a great resource. Thanks for this work and the great explanations. 👍
Wow, girl, this is gold! There is so much advice out there that’s is just recycled water with no substance.. while you give a proper master class here!
I just wanted to leave the comment saying how helpful this video has been for me who’s a beginner at creating content in general! Even the way you give this brief tutorial of how to edit the videos on the laptop is so incredibly useful thank you so much I am now a subscriber!!❤
It's a little different now in 2023, but your video was still able to help guide me to the right place, it says "Download" instead of save after going to the "Manage" area. Thank you!!
I love this, I feel like many people recommend to just post videos, without really a passion behind? and that can be good so thank you for encouraging more deep and truthful content for creators
Can you tell me how do I film me using my desktop screen with my phone? I see designers filming their process and I don’t know how? Do I need a tripod for the phone?
It's hard because I'm an oil painter - so I have one shot to get a good video of my painting process. It's not like I can just do it again ( I guess I could but it would take hours and hours.) .... I'm trying to come up with more educational content with my reels because it feels more natural to me than trying to go "trendy" or "taboo" -- not sure what's taboo in painting? It's also tough because I can't afford to work in a super aesthetic studio right now. My studio is the size of a walk in closet, haha
You are an amazing presenter and teacher etc. So confident without being cocky and you have a way of laying out content in a way that's not long-winded but is also not jargon-laden. I'm sure it's taken you a lot of effort to make it look as 'easy' as it does and thank you for that!
Do you personally think that with your camera a better video quality can be achieved compared to a video recorded by an iPhone? How do you end up with the 16:9 format by using your camera? I would looove to learn about it as I would be happy to ditch my iPhone. 😂 I appreciate your time creating videos like this, Katie!
not the "olden days of 2011" why are you aging us like this?! LOL. as always - loooove your content so much. You are always so honest and helpful with your tips!
Great video! My biggest hang-up with reels is the time to manually edit together many b-roll clips for a 60 second video. Any tips on efficiencies with adding 3 - 4 second long b-roll into a short?
Hey Katie! I watched a video a while back about how you run your agency and was wondering why you decided to give each client their own later account instead of managing everything with your team and a software? Thanks so much for the great content! 🙏🏽
Hi, I have just found your TH-cam channel and gives me tone of motivation, definitely gonna stay here. Thank you for all your work ❤ Can I ask in what app do you edit TH-cam videos on Mac?
Hey Katie! I’m wondering if you plan to repurpose your content for IG reels and TikTok if you prefer to use IG reels or TikTok music, and if one is better than the other for repurposing? Or if you use different music for each of the two social platforms?
Awesome tips! Thank you! So I'm curious - my issue is a camera. I use my iphone because I film and edit everything on my phone, but looking to do dual shots. I have a Nikon, but the focus is messed up. Do you have any tips for a good camera that's not too expensive? I use Rush, videoleap, & inshot (yeah I know - three!, but videoleap and inshot have fun transitions that Rush doesn't, but Rush has the presets I love). Thanks for your help!
I work for a TV station and I incorporate iPhone footage in the news stories I shoot and edit all the time. I import it right into premiere pro. I’m not sure why you are having to use Rush to get your iPhone footage to import into premiere pro.
First things first, I LOVE the t-shirt! The color is so fun! Love the actual content too of course. and I am so onboard with filming outside of apps. That on/off is so distracting as a viewer. I just want a full thought without the obvi edit. Thanks as always for the "reel" (see what I did there) tips to grow a long term audience.
Quick question: how long does it take you to create a reel? Like from recording to posting? Because it takes me foreveeeer and I feel like I do something wrong that it takes me so long…
Depends, I usually do some planning 1st before creating content like looking for sounds as an inspiration to ideas that I want to create so everything is planned, I just need to film exactly whats on my list and do a film day which is only to shoot and edit. Hope these helps 😊
Question for you Katie!!! Are you able to use all available audios on your Instagram reels? I run a business profile for a client, and I am stuck will all the ugly copyright free sounds. Any fixes for this??
What do you think about video apps like InShot? I don't have a laptop (just an ipad pro really) so I've never worked on Premier Pro. I've been editing videos on this app for almost 4 years now but I'm slowly realizing I might be outgrowing it. Do you think it's required to learn Premier Pro if I want to advance my digital marketing career?
I think you're a genius girl, and I love watching your videos. I don't know what to do with my art content though. Maybe I should try getting meta verified because they're only showing my posts to like, 10 people (I'm not trying to brag, but I used to get A LOT of likes whenever I posted randomly about 7 years ago not taking it seriously and I'm actually a full time professional designer so.....like, they're not bad girl).
Thank you Katie lots of great tips. I was wondering if you really do edit with the trackpad on the MacBook? If so make sure to keep a mouse handy. And for the video issue that you’re having one thing you can try is to export them to the Mac and then use the program Handbrake to convert them to a format that will play better if you haven’t tried this yet.
This all seems soooooo time consuming. I'm a mommy, student and business owner trying to keep up on 3 Instagram accounts and 2 TH-cam channels. I need help with time management for all of this. Any suggestions?
Btw - I sometimes struggle also with quality issues by adding small animation to carousel posts. I know this is not common , but if somebody just reads that and has some silutions - let me know!
Thank you so much ! It helped me a lot ! Because other videos were always about like make your videos “saveable” by making tips, inspirational and all. But I’m more a Neurodivergent lifestyle girlie. Your video explains well how to make good reels for no matter the topic. I’m going to try it and hope for the best 💕
This is so helpful, Thank-you so much for putting time into making this. I have never made a reel before but your video inspired me to try. Keep it up!
Some people say that it is not good to post a reel every day, it is better to do post a reel in three days or two...is it right? Could you please teach me why?
thank you so much for the help @katiesteckly 🥰 I am now curious if it will help me to edit faster on adobe premiere because i am using capcut as of the moment. can u share how long did it take you to edit? thank you! the story blocks + adobe premiere pro partnership also sounds promising!!

@@katie Of course! You're awesome 🥰
I totally agree with that🥰 just discovered it today!
Exactly! I love Katie’s vibes!
exactly!! she is the best!! and i love her color palette haha
I love that you don't worry about shallow things like perfectly curated hashtags and timing. All of that superficial stuff is suuuuuch a turnoff to wanting to spread creativity.
Finally someone talking about how important quality content is to grow in a healthy way! Lovely video Katie :)

I love that you also screen-record the audio. Makes me feel like I know what I’m doing just a bit more.

thank you so much for sharing your story! i am so glad that I could help you along your business journey :) amazing work!
Just recently found your videos & I am truly obsessed. Seeing your actual process of making a reel is so so helpful! Thank you for this!
awe thank you so much, Casey!
If you don’t have a camera I highly suggest filming in 4K on your phone and downloading an editing app. Export in 1080 tho because IG is wonky. I thought I was the only one screen recording song lol. Good one Katie!
You are one of the most helpful content creator actually dishing out practical tips 👌
Controversy or Taboo topics def gets more engagment! Love all these original tips!

10:20 select your clip and Shift+Delete to automatically delete and have all the clips move to the left. Saves soooo much time!
I actually LEARNED something in this video!! Thank you, Katie! BTW - Your Brows are FIRE!!!
This was great! Who has a good method for managing all their iPhone clips, b-roll, and covers in the photos app? I have so many albums at this point
Thank you so much. I was looking for how to reduce the volume or add a cover… Now I need to work on coming up with good ideas, the hardest part

Just recording sideways and change your settings to 4k 25fps
not the "olden days of 2011" why are you aging us like this?! LOL. as always - loooove your content so much. You are always so honest and helpful with your tips!
Hi Katie! Do you recommend posting the same content on both Instagram and TH-cam? eg, reels and shorts.
Your channel is so refreshing
omg loved the tip about exporting in rush before bringing into premiere! thank you ❤
glad to help!!
Hey Katie, I am unable to see the trending audio arrow on any of my reels. What should I do?
i just like how real you are just being you! i love your videos Katie!
Thank you actually having substance in your video! I just watched three videos before yours that said absolutely nothing.
Amazing video as always! Just curious - why premier pro as opposed to the popular cap cut? And how/where do you store all this stuff?
Appreciate your direct approach. And your genuine feel😊
I love this, super helpful. what camera do you use?
This was super helpful! And as always, I love your perspective on this topic 🫶🏽
Hi, I have just found your TH-cam channel and gives me tone of motivation, definitely gonna stay here. Thank you for all your work ❤ Can I ask in what app do you edit TH-cam videos on Mac?
I've been seeing a ton of your Reels lately and they are incredible! Thanks for this video!
I just found your channel and I'm obsessed. You are such a sweetheart and your tips actually feel real. Thanks
thank you so much!! that means a lot to me ❤
I can't believe how much I just learned. Thank you!
Hey Katie! Thanks for another fantastic video! Your tips are super helpful and very easy to follow. I love your down-to-earth, easy-going style.💛
Hey Katie! I’m wondering if you plan to repurpose your content for IG reels and TikTok if you prefer to use IG reels or TikTok music, and if one is better than the other for repurposing? Or if you use different music for each of the two social platforms?
Thank you for this useful info ! I have always made reels on the fly and never put this much thought into them so I plan to give it a go!
Can you share how you organise your content / do you save all the content you make or delete for storage?
how do you get the blurred background with your sony zv1? (Given you cant get external lenses). love your videos!
Awesome tips! Thank you! So I'm curious - my issue is a camera. I use my iphone because I film and edit everything on my phone, but looking to do dual shots. Do you have any experience on adding closed captions in your video editing software vs using the closed captions option within instagram?
I work for a TV station and I incorporate iPhone footage in the news stories I shoot and edit all the time. I import it right into premiere pro. I’m not sure why you are having to use Rush to get your iPhone footage to import into premiere pro.
I’ve gained over 11k followers in my first 30 consistent days on Instagram! Thanks Katie!
Were there any tricks that you used?
@@twizzles8432 honestly anything Katie. But having reels that aren’t just trending sounds is what has allowed me to reach over 8M in the last 30 days!
This is really helpful but it is complicated! Thanks for your great tutorials!!
I Love story blocks plus the audio options to add background music.
I love your tips! Another insightful lesson about Instagram I've learned today. Thank you for sharing this Katie ❤️
-You nailed it!- *Everyone agrees the only way to expand your audience is in,sta, crease*
Hey Katie? would you tell us please what video editer do you use?

Thanks for sharing all these valuable information, I love your outfit! When did you buy your jeans?
Do you repost reels that flop or edit them differently and repost it?
This is great! I haven’t tried Reels - they seem intimidating. Can you recommend an easy, beginner friendly app to create Reels? Thank you!
This is very good. Can you share the layout for Adobe premier work space ? How to make sure the premier launches with reel format ? Thanks
Quick question: how long does it take you to create a reel? Like from recording to posting? Because it takes me foreveeeer and I feel like I do something wrong that it takes me so long…

Damn ur videos are so literally tight even the sponsorship was enjoyable i absolutely love your filming style and tips ur awesome!
Hi Katie do take photo for your reels title or just use a screen capture in reels?
Since you air drop to your computer, how do you manage with storage?
Question for you Katie!!! Are you able to use all available audios on your Instagram reels? I run a business profile for a client, and I am stuck will all the ugly copyright free sounds. Any fixes for this??

Sorry, what program did you design the cover in? Thanks for the video! Loved it!
This was so incredibly helpful ❤ thank you!
OBSESSED with your shirt! Please tell me it wasn’t a thrift find 🤞🏼
it's from Big Bud Press!
Question about stock footage/video/sound. Are you still able to use that footage if your subscription to Storyblocks has ended?
Where do you usually find your graphics or animated clips from?

How long in average does your process take from start to finish for each non trendy reel?
Thanks this was really valuable content, I'm new to instagram and I prefer editing on my laptop.
Love this! Very insightful especially when I’m just starting out! 👌🏿🔥
great substantial instructive video -- q/a - video editor must me premier pro, do it all on the computer rather than the cellphone?
Some people say that it is not good to post a reel every day, it is better to do post a reel in three days or two...is it right? Could you please teach me why?
also i seem to not find the cover/thumbnail option to choose from when uplaoding a reel on my mobile phone, why is that ?
Do you edit from you external hard drive?
yes I do!
What if we don't like showing our face? Do you have to be in the reels in order to get people viewing?
Super helpful and done so mich in depth with real advice and demo ! You are amazing!
thank you so much for the help @katiesteckly 🥰 I am now curious if it will help me to edit faster on adobe premiere because i am using capcut as of the moment. can u share how long did it take you to edit? thank you! the story blocks + adobe premiere pro partnership also sounds promising!!
I'm a new subscriber, and i love your tips... I will also apply these to my content. 🧡 Sending love from 🇵🇭
I liked that you said “healthy engagement “
Thank you thank you thank you!! This video was super helpful. Your content is FABULOUS.
I loved the idea of thinking about reels as "mini TH-cam vídeos"
I have a special care for my youtube videos and not so much about my reels and shorts.
Gonna think about that.
And also, make my youtube videos simpler in general...enough flashy edition
I really love your content and just how comfortable you are with sharing these hacks….thank you
Hiii would you be able to make a video about how you edit on Premiere Pro? I want to learn but don’t know much about editing on computers yet, I’m sure it’d perform well
This was such an amazing tutorial!!! thank you!!! I have spent hours looking for answers and you did it!!! Thank you!!!!
