      @Megatron EX1127 loll I am from India we have more powerful smartphone with variety of choices for cheaper price for an average consumer..idk how things work euorpe lolll....in india pixel is said to be 100$ (American) expensive compared to the top end of one plus nord ....plus most consumers in india prefer camera versatility with good battery ....it's like if u go ask an average consumer would you pick pixel over nord...they will say no because nord has better over-all package too....but again in india phone with better quality and better spec comes under the price range of the 6 gb vareint of nord in india 😂 you can get 90hz , 30wat charging , BETTER procceesor than nord under 200$ (American)
      Smartphone game in india is competitive that I just feel pixel 4a will be again over priced in india basically around 450$ (American) lmao

  • @briannhinton
    @briannhinton 4 ปีที่แล้ว +73

    I don’t understand why glass and metal is “premium”. It’s heavy, and fragile to drops. Waiting for the Samsung event, but this is tempting with the price, features, weight and Google software.

    • @kahosin890
      @kahosin890 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Google can make a plastic phone looks the same "premium" as a glass phone

    • @gadgetmatch
      @gadgetmatch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Type of materials and/or Premium look and Feel is not the same thing as durability or fragility. And while glass might shatter, the plastic frame is also flimsy and can bend easy.

    • @tech.gate.28
      @tech.gate.28 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gadgetmatch there is literally a difference of 5 grams between the 4A and the 3, the 3 even being the lighter one. Which one is premium? The heavier the more premium, right? Because phones are getting larger and larger, I guess people get used to the idea of a 180 g phablet, ahem... phone, but that doesn't make it more premium, or more portable. And do a test and show how easily it bends, because it's a plastic frame. I knew from the start of the video that you were not gonna like the phone "affordable doesn't always mean good". It's like they can't win with you guys, once prices go up you complain they are too expensive and you start nitpicking, yet when they release budget phones you complain about them not being premium.

    I just received my 4a yesterday. So far so good. I'm not sure why Michael dissed the battery life in his review when his "expert " said he was surprised at how good the battery life was in his experience. In my one day with the device, I spent around 4 hours converting from a Pixel 2 and doing updates and I had plenty of battery left. ~ 40% (it came charged to 80%) I'm happy. SO far it's been a GREAT phone!

      @@Andrew-it7fb Different strokes for different folks. Bluetooth definitely much more convenient in this regard, but I'd prefer the inconveniences of wires if it means much more superior sound for price, zero latency, and less worrying longevity (Bluetooth standards change, batteries degrade, stuff like that). For running, my earphoness are made to be ran behind your head and into the back of your shirt (since they're live monitors) which work really well for me.
      All that being said though, wireless earphones still have their deserved place. I'm planning to get a decent pair for casual use. For any other case though, you're gonna be hard pressed trying to convince me to move to a phone with no jack, and I'm glad the Pixel 4A has one.

    Great review, really comprehensive. Made me learn more about the phone than just 1 video of another channel.
    Though, in my opinion, we should first establish our definition of design. Is it just the looks or does it include the frame, build materials, position of components, and etc.
    If it is just the looks then we should differentiate build quality from design. A phone can have good design(looks) but have bad build quality, i.e 1+ nord.
    We also seen it fail in Zach's durability test in which he downplays
    Also my opinion, 1+ nord has better design; but the build quality of the pixel 4a is yet to be seen.

    I have the One Plus 6T for just over 2 years. It's not working like it has been for the past 2 years. I just dicovered that One Plus only supports it's phones for 2 years. I have been watching videos on the Pixel 4a and was very impressed with the high recommendations it is receiving, so I purchased one, after I found out that Google gives 3 years of support. For the low price of this phone, I felt that was a good deal. I paid double the price of the pixel 4a for my One Plus 6T. I loved the One Plus 6T, just so disappointed in the lack of support. I am looking forward to receiving my Pixel 4A.

Battery is much better than 3a and 4. Overall i feel 4A is much better option than Nord and SE, Samsung's mid range. SE might be different if we consider platforms (ios vs android) but in general 4A is awesome!!

    At £400 the Poco F2 Pro has a pop-up camera with no display cut-out, 4700 mAh battery, 5g, SD865, newer display, ultra-wide camera. The camera is obviously not as good but if you use a third-party app you can get very close as the hardware is better than the 2-year-old Pixel's.
    Unless the camera software is ultra-important there are far better alternatives over here in Europe. Sadly the US influencers do not get a chance to test the competition to have a better perspective on value and usability. So a phone like the Pixel 4a gets overhyped in the US vacuum whereas outside the US the 4a is quite underwhelming even at this price point.
    Thanks for the hard work.

    Hi Michael, I would just like you to understand this. First, I would assume you already got used to the market there in US but for a huge number of people around the world, a good wireless earbuds is expensive compared to a good wired earbuds; And some people's available choices are cheap earbuds. A cheap wireless earbuds sounds bad with a very noticeable lag while a cheap wired earbuds only sounds bad, no lag. So for a lot of us, the 3.5mm jack is non-negotiable

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can still use USB-C headphones or a dongle so a jack is not essential anymore.

    • @lajuan6532
      @lajuan6532 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andyH_England I understand but it should be unnecessary for those are just solutions to a problem that was intentionally created. Like what Apple did.
      Also the 3.5mm jack is a universal standard in which the port is present in almost every single types of electronic device: smartphone, cellphone, laptop, pc, speakers, external dac, mp3 players, monitors, keyboard and other musical instruments, even some tvs, and many more.
      A lot of us don't used our wired earbuds just for our phone. To have a dongle for that special snowflake electronic, that is some smartphones, and babysitting wired earbuds by making sure that there is still battery left are just ridiculous.
      Now, don't misunderstand. I believe in the future, wireless shall be as ubiquitous as the jack; but right now, it is not quite as good while at the same time being very cheap to integrate in several electronics.

    Based on the specification given from the official website, it is actually using SD730 instead of SD730G right?

    You can put the phone and point to the sky and even if your surroundings have lots of light it still goes into that mode

    "Interestingly" the price in Euro shown here is not about 300 Euro, it is the same number as in USD, 349 Euro, despite you get a tax discount by gouvernment (19% to 16% for a lot of products til the end of 2020). So by selling a Pixel 4a in Europe Google earns more than for selling one in the US as it seems. But maybe there are some extra costs i.g. for shipping that raises the price for Europe?

    If you have a phone case
    then build quality doesn’t matter that much.. bc it’ll cover the phone and help you differentiate the fingerprint scanner. the annoying thing is that it isn’t waterproof or supports wireless charging

    I'm not sure if this is my gadgetmatch as there are a lot of options out there. But, if it is compared to Nord and SE 2020, including, of course of pricing, I would choose Pixel 4A.

    Such a fabulous performance by single camera. I don't see the need for 4-5 cameras on the back. A good camera is enough for most of us. Just get the software right

    Google teaches others you don't need 3, 4, 5 cameras to take great pictures. First smartphone of 2020 to get me excited while all the Oppos Vivos Realmes keep on wrestling with specs and tech that makes no sense.
