This just shows how important putting a diacritic mark on the stressed syllable kasi yung word na *Sara*, first thought ko name lol Pero if you write it as _Sará_ , then you'd know where the stressed part of the word is. Now it sounds more like the word "close".
Also, a quick fact is _Magasin_ is originally French. English took that from French, like 30% of English words, but yeah, by the time we took the word, it's already used in English ;)

I noticed that in the different languages of the Philippines, R and L are interchanging (e.g. Alak is used in Tagalog while Arak is used in other Philippine languages). Maybe before the Spanish came, our ancestors hear R and L as the same sound just like how a lot of Asians do.
Arak is the traditional alcoholic beverage in Western Asia, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean,[3][4] as well in Syria, Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon.
I was curious about the ARAK word. And I learned that Arak is a Middle Eastern word. So, most likely the Muslims brought the word ARAK to the Philippines. Indonesians are familiar with the Arak word too since they have a large Muslim population.

Same here in kapampangan also, sometimes we interchange R and L but sometimes R and D. Just like malliári to mariári, ruler to lurer, etc and sometimes i'm having a hard time to pronounce the world to word, the name nathalie to natari, chronicle to kuroniker lol. Our words can also be pronounced in a syllabic way even the dead consonants like cartoons to karitoon, pablo to pabilu, kriesha to kirisiya, christian to kiristian etc.

Wow! This is so interesting and informative. I actually never thought about the origins of those words. All I know is that our language is influenced by many different cultures. The bunso/bongsu one was a little tricky tho. I also thought it was Korean but now that I think about it, Korea didn't really colonize our country, did they? I probably should read more about history again (don't attack me, I'm really just weak at this subject back then)

Anong ibig sabihin ng bongsu sa Korean? Ang alam kong bunso sa Korean ay maknae.
@@un1te_4_music Yes po. Maknae means youngest in Korean pero yung term na "bunso" derived siya from Malay na "bongsu" which means "youngest" in English po. I don't know kung may ibang meaning ang bongsu sa Korean aside from using it as a name.

You know what's funny. When I shared my childhood memories to my non-Filipino friends, and I explained, "Girl, boy, bakla, tomboy..." and "Langit lumpa", they were so shocked. We got some weird sayings as kids.

Word of reminder according to my research the Philippines have never come across a Korean merchants during the age of Exploration let alone had any interactions with them so it’s safe to say there are no total records of the Philippines having any borrowed words from Korea
