    Majority of Filipinos are Catholic.
So, the birth of Jesus which is the Christmas, will be the BIG BIG BIG event that could ever happen every year. So, it is just enough to prepared for it as early as Filipinos can, as much as they can, regardless of the capacity or ability to do so, as they are with their Family is more than enough, is everything.

It is true that the Bible never mentions winter during Jesus' birth..BUT...several Filipinos who are now working abroad in Israel or even in Bethlehem can testify this points:
●SNOW IS RARE in Israel in December. If it occurs in December, there is no snow in the plains but only in the mountains or hills but only for a few hours. Snow occurs usually during January to March.
●SHEEP are not kept during snow. They are allowed to go out even during snow because of their thick fur.
●SNOW could not last for weeks. It is only for a couple of hours but snow ice melts within a day.
●This year, there is no snow within Dec. 20-25
●The feast of Dedication or Hanukkah mentioned in the gospel of John is a winter celebration. Jews went out from their homes. Jews picked up stones, not ice balls.

Im sorry to bust your bubble but its not really Jesus birthday. Its not specified in Bible when is Jesus birthday. A research study suggests that it is between april or may and not really December. I recommend you to study the origin of Christmas. Its just really a regular holiday. But of course we are in a christian country.
And last interesting fact: Celebrating birthdays is Pagan tradition and not Christian. In the early years, christian is very against celebrating birthdays, so technically, Jesus Christ is not really celebrated in the early years

@@xiumin6823 Sorry , but you're misleading others and you don't know the Catholic Church's tradition. Kindly Read:
      CHRISTMAS
Why is December 25 chosen by the Catholic church as the official date of Christmas "Mass of
      Christ"?
To my brothers and sisters in Christ and in the Catholic faith, please let us take time to read so
we would know the basis why we celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December. This will help
us defend our faith and possibly answer in case we are asked.

The day of Atonement where Zechariah entered the temple and then received the good news of
St. John the Baptist's conception was on the 7th month of the Jewish calendar which is Tishrei.
See Bible verse below. Note that month Tishrei corresponds to September 22 to October 8 in
      our calendar.
      Leviticus 23:26-27 (Day of Atonement)
The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of
atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present
an offering by fire to the LORD.
Luke 1:12-14 (Angel Gabriel appeared unto Zechariah father of St. John the Baptist)
12When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and overcome with fear. 13But the angel said to
him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will
bear you a son, and you shall give him the name John. 14He will be a joy and delight to you, and
many will rejoice at his birth,…
      Point 2.
St. John the Baptist's birth is celebrated on the 24th of June by the Catholic church. Now
count 9 months backward from June 24, we will end up on September 24 which is the day of
Atonement being celebrated in the month of Tishrei the 7th month in the Jewish calendar that
      corresponds to end September.
      Point 3.
While Elizabeth was six months pregnant of St. John the Baptist, Mary received the good news
      about Jesus' conception.
Luke 1:26-30 (Elizabeth is 6 months pregnant ang Mary received the good news for Jesus'birth)
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town
in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David.
The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly
favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.
      Point 4.
Counting 6 months from September 24 from the annunciation of St. John the Baptist's
conception we will end up by March 24 which was Elizabeth's 6th month-pregnancy which was
also the annunciation of Mary's conception with Jesus. Count 9 months from March 24, we will
end up by December 24. The time when the angels appeared to the shepherds about Jesus' birth
was midnight reason for it to fall on the 25th of December.
      Point 5.
8 days after the birth of Christ, He was circumcised in which it is celebrated by the church on the
      1st of January.

    • @jurielmarong322
      @jurielmarong322 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Luke 2:21 (Jesus was circumcised 8 days after His nativity)
21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name
the angel had given him before he was conceived.
Count 8 days backwards from January 1, we will end up by December 24.
      Point 6.
Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant ahead of Mary. So St. John the Baptist is 6 month older than
Jesus. St. John's nativity is being celebrated in every 24th of June. Count 6 months from June
24, we will end up with December 25.
Isn't it amazing Catholic people how these truth in the Bible made the church and the whole
world celebrated December 25 as Christmas day.

So appreciative of you recognizing our deep love for Christmas celebration and traditions...tho it's really obvious that ours is not just for Christmas day itself. Our preparation and the 'feel' if Christmas bug starts as early as September 1st, start of 'Ber' month, which is September. Filipino way of celebration focuses mainly on 'family togetherness' and also family friends and signicant others (like gf or bf or partner). In conclusion, I'm happy to note that most of you want to bring to Korea the tradition of 'Noche Buena' or Christmas Eve celebration (us being Catholics emphasize the birthday of Jesus Christ) where everyone gather for a party (in the family home), stay up to midnite and exchange hugs, greetings and gifts...merry-makings after till wee hours. In addition, the Christmas spirit stays on till the end of December as we do have somewhat similar tradition on the eve of New Year, like another 'Noche Buena' to welcome the new year, to hope for a better year ahead. Whew, really long, but fun. As they say, "It's more fun in the Philippines!"

Spent Christmas/NY in Korea for the first time and it’s the loneliest I ever experienced. The spirit of Christmas in the Philippines is just on another level. Rare lang ang Christmas tree dito sa SK, ni walang Christmas rush, and wala ding lights na kumukutitap.
