This is the best example of organizing and using quick keys. I've searched high and low for something like this. Now I understand!

❤❤ Dude!!! I’m a ham operator and honestly have never owned a scanner. My wife works for a company here in Arizona and the bosses wife was given a scanner several years ago, and she has never opened the box. my wife told her that I was a radio operator so she handed it to me and asked me if I could “figure it out”. 😂😂 Anyway, must’ve spent several days trying to find something on TH-cam and your video is literally the best one that I have found. Good job! Now I totally get the whole system/group/channel thing. Now my last step is I get to train her on how it to use it.
Basically I’m just going to get it set up with a bunch of channels so she can listen to stuff for a couple of days. Then she’ll probably turn it off and never turn it back on again. 😂😂😂

Very helpful, thanks. The manual only goes so far. Now I have the ambition to try quick keys without fear of messing up!

These videos are invaluable! The Owner's Manual is horrible and doesn't explain the hierarchy or even how to press a Quick Key on the panel. Uniden assumes the buyer knows too much. Thank you Erod1944!

Thanks, this helped me understand how to turn off the groups in a system! I was missing having to press the Function Button. Also the period to select systems with keys above 9. Thanks again for sharing and making this video.

one thing i do, i put the system # in the name of the system. say Hampton PD is system one, i name it "Hampton PD 1", this way, i am reminded what system it is as it scrolls by. or, if i am paging through the system, i see the system #. this is helpful when you have multiple systems like i do here, have over 50. thanks again for posting.

Thanks. That was one of my biggest questions. Appreciate you're taking the time to explain. Made me subscribe!

Thanks, the only valid explanation I've found. I mastered within seconds after watching the video! I'm using the BCD325p2, it works fine for it as well. thumbs up and subscribe.

Finally someone who explained how to use this scanner!! I am not stupid but have not owned a scanner in over 25 years and things have changed so much this thing was like learning Latin, its easy to see now the group keys had me stumped, Thanks for the video I was going to smash my new BCD996P2!!! out of frustration "Just Kidding there are cheaper things to take frustration out on besides a $450 radio" Again Thanks Erod1944

I've wondered about using two-digit System keys. Now I know how to do it! Can you also use two-digit Group keys? Great video and explanations!

If I don’t use quick keys at all on my bcd325p2 handle scanner, will it default to scanning all systems? Thanks. Great videos

Easier way to block a GRP, just hit function and the number when its pulled up (like it is active). You can press hold for more time... No need to block everything else. Or just hit 'hold' and scroll to its system.
    THANK YOU Erod1944

Great video thx. But I'm having trouble getting my MOT2 trunked system to get a quick key. I add the systems via Radiorefrence or manually but it will not assign a quick key only "by site". Any suggestions? In addition when I load the system in my scanner and go to the "menu" program info on the scanner I cant even see the system as an option to add a quick key via the scanner.

Thanks had to get my mind around this...since I was used to the SDS100/200. Surprised you had to turn off System 1,2,3 to modify to turn off group 2 off System 33. Surpirse there isnt a step like 33.2 (toggle System 33 Group 2). Hmmm...ok thanks would have never understood. Thanks so much.

Yes I can do it. The best way is to have a programming cable and a laptop with the software.

After putting all my info in like yours with my frequencies, setup just like yours... starting the unit up it only scans "public service" and then if I lock that out it says there is nothing to scan... Guy sold it to me because it was too complicated for him... I cant even get it to do anything...

So even though the computer labels it system 4, it's more like saying it's system 33? So you could have a system 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, all the way up to system 99?

    • @ChuckRowe
      @ChuckRowe 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes. You can name the system whatever you wish. It would be better to call the system that's associated with QK 33 as "Sys-33", following the convention of this tutorial. You can name them whatever you wish, within character constraints. For instance... "1 CHP SOUTHERN", "2 LAPD". etc. You don't ahve to have any number there, if you don't wish to have it. It makes it easier to remember, though.

Instead of toggling off all the other systems couldn't you just Hold on a system and toggle the groups for that system?
