    I'm glad being a 3-prong and warcomp fan finally pays off, most of my muzzle devices are Surefire 3-prong. I've always been told the OTN's are bad because "ping" noises and brances. I recently P&W a CTN warcomp on a new upper just to try it out but haven't shot it yet, i wonder how it'd do with the RC3.

      We kinda feel the same way. It makes sense in a way that they were focused on the three and four prongs during testing because thats what a lot of the military/LE are running so thats what they focused on and spaced the comps. • @mart2224
    @mart2224 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    If you research surefire muzzle devices performance, you'd find that the muzzle brakes entirely change the system in the RC2 even (maybe not in the form of a fireball). Most people seem to run those to give it a sacrificial blast baffle and increase can life blah blah, but what it does is adds significant backpressure to the system itself thus causing other wear issues. On anything SBR, it's optimal to just run an open tined mount (personal opinion here... Don't run a brake on an SBR for f sake anyway). All that to say, it doesn't surprise me that the brake changes the whole system when you have flow through in there. It's adding huge pressure to everything, so gasses/unburnt powder now escape through the path of least resistance and boom, fireball. In a nutshell, the brakes add baffles (more baffles more pressure) to a system optimized without additional baffles. Surefire stuff was always designed around their standard flash hiders anyway.

  • @trippskits2503
    @trippskits2503 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Though this can is thankfully available to civilian consumers, it was produced and designed for the military first. Most units/armories run the 3/4 prong open tine so I would bet Surefire didn't test with other muzzle devices due to saving cost. Or if they did, they didn't care how closed tine and brakes flash since big MIL isn't using those. They are a military contract fullfillment company first and a comsumer market company second. I look forward to getting an RC3

      I'll never understand why the 3 prong warcomp gets so much hate. This test really shows me that it is, exactly as I've known for a long time, the best muzzle device they make. Usually, but not always, if you want the best gear in these categories, look what the military is using. There is usually a good reason for it.

      @seijiroukikuoka5975 that's funny because the 3 prong Warcomp is the most widely used in the military, and THEY are reporting 90,000+ rounds before having to be repaired by Surefire. SOCOM knows what they're doing, and I take my info from them.

    • @Sheild_against_the_wicked556
      @Sheild_against_the_wicked556 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @seijiroukikuoka5975 you do also realize that philosophy of use comes into play as well? This video PROVED what I already knew about the Warcomp. The Warcomp is designed to reduce muzzle flash to a bare minimum to keep you from being seen. It's all to do with signature reduction. My rifles are set up with the worst possible situation in mind. Their other mounts have their place, but for a defensive weapon that you may have to pick up to defend yourself, your family, your home and country, you need to make sure it's extremely difficult to be seen. Even if it is harder on the can, most people will never hit 90,000 rounds on one rifle.

I initially bought it because it is newer and supposedly better, but mostly it will quick attach to the Daniel Defense M4 SOCOM BLOCK 2 Clone that came from Daniel Defense with a Surfire three prong flash hider. At the time of purchase the true four prong was not available so DD disclosed and substituted the three prong. Also, because I had purchased a DD pistol with their own flash hider attached, I purchased a Surefire 3 prong to change out the DD part so that I could have quick detach ready when the RC3 arrives. They perform flawlessly and I have no issues with flame balls from "the wrong muzzle device." I like SF and their products, but this is silly for the price of the can. Throw an H3/heavy spring in your AR and seal the charging handle for like $100 and if the barrel isn't absurdly overgassed, you won't have a bunch of gas to the face and can keep your preferred MD.

    Every suppressed 5.56 mm I've ever fired is still loud and I still wear hearing protection. I just want something that will lower the bark without feeling like I'm being punched in the face with gas. The over gassing on cans I've shot is very noticeable, particularly on full auto. To me, less gas is more important than having the quietest can. I also always use flash hiders. I think muzzle brakes are kinda silly on 5.56. They amplify noise and flash if not using a can (and perhaps with a can) on a rifle that doesn't have a lot of recoil to begin with.

      @@modernwarriorsut My comment sounded a little snarky, sorry about that. It is just that a 5.56 comes out in the ballpark of 3,000 ft/s which means each frame on a typical 30fps camera is getting what happens every 100 feet the projectile flies. While you aren't recording the projectile, the muzzle flash also happens over a relatively short duration. Your camera's lower frame rate is what is 'likely' causing the inconsistent recording of muzzle flash. My guess is the first round came out with a little flash and the subsequent rounds came out with significantly less but the recording shows some shots with no flash at all and then others you can still see it clearly because the camera happened to be capturing it at that instant.

    Asking your customers to pony up another $200 for a new muzzle device (per gun, if you ran closed tine on multiple rifles) or else your new $1800 can will spit fireballs is completely absurd. And of course it must be Surefire muzzle devices, since they refuse to use universal HUB mount like most other brands. Though I guess if you're dropping $2k on a can you're probably fine with throwing more money at it so it works. Personally I would stick with the RC2.

    • @2A.Freedom

      What do you mean universal mount like most others? There is no universal mount. Silencerco has their own mount. Dead Air has their own mount. Huxwrx has their own mount. Yankee Hill has their own mount. And the Silencer Central banish cans are direct thread. So I really don't know wtf you're talking about lol

    I think surefire still droppped the ball. The can is sooooooo expensive, and its not even compatible with their overpriced muzzle devices that dont even come with the purchase of a can. They marketed the can to be backwards compatible, but its not. It must be sooooo embarrassing for surefire to have this issue. People think that surefire did tons and tons of r&d developing this can & its so obvious they didnt do any fucking r&d 😂😂😂😂😂 because anyone that shoots the can immediately relaizes it shoots a fucking fireball😂😂😂😂 this will be a stain on surefire forever. The fact that surefire released this can and didnt even know that it spits fireballs with their muzzle devices is mind blowing. Id hate to have to defend surefire rn but you guys did a good job of it with this video.

      We actually agree with most of what you said. it is annoying that while the rc3 will technically fit on the old muzzle devices, it has such a drastic performance difference from one device to the other that the information put out by sf feels inaccurate. Hopefully as they are on the market longer the costs will come down some to help offset the cost some.

    Pushing this a little hard aren’t you. In your own words it louder and huge flash. And your improvement is that its not fireballs anymore? From what I’ve seen of the RC 2 quieter and less visible flash. So similar except…oh yeah RC3 is 700.00 more. Guys losing some credibility here.

    • @modernwarriorsut
      @modernwarriorsut  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im sorry that you feel that way, but I think you missed the point or must not have finished the video. We found that the RC3, when set up properly, had a better flash reduction and less gas blowback than the RC2. But you are correct, the RC2 was quieter. So which is better really depends on what features you look for and prioritize when looking for a suppressor.
