I'm in class 10, but I like both physics, Chemistry and commerce too.
I've decided to go with Non Medical in school(physics Chemistry and Math). But I like stock markets. Thanks to dad, who is himself a old investor from 1995, he has allowed me to study stock market by experimenting and a goal to turn 1000 rs to 5000 in six months. Imagine this being a subject in schools, as none of my classmates know about BSE, I mean not even meaning. My class strength is 50,and none of those guys have heard about recent adani event. And what kind of financial literacy you're expecting from them?
And that's why I've decided that my future college will not be iit but rather McGill University in Canada. As my school wants me to clear iit exam.

Hey! Another 10th class student here. There is an optional subject in my school Financial Marketing in which we are learning all about stock market. CBSE has collaborated with NSE to make a software NSEMart in which students can practice stock market. However the app was not used in my school, maybe cuz of time shortage idk. It is frustrating.
The major problem remains implementation and awareness. Cbse has given us the subject yet many schools don't have it. And even if they do, students are not willing to choose. In my batch there are only 14 students (3 girls).

The one thing that I like about online classes is that I could replay the video again and again until I understand and If I do the same thing at college and ask the teacher to repeat it again and again until I understand I would end up seeing a duster coming at me.

📍 _My casually written rant about the Indian schooling system: (pls read)_
India's biggest problem is arguably its Education & Schools and very few people even talk about this.
its not even just about how things are taught. its about the way everything works (or doesn't) like how notebooks are still so fucking hyped up and students are forced to literally just copy paste stuff into their notebooks bruh where's the sense!?!? or about how our schools don't have lockers PLUS they force notebooks & books on kids. school bags are still RIDICULOUSLY HEAVY cuz they force students to carry like two dozens of notebooks and books. i pick my sister's schoolbag on the days i drop her to school and am surprised every single time about its weight. no idea how parents & schools are okay with this..
or about how superficial bookish studies are the only goal, nothing else.
or about how kids are made to sit in one class for the entire day and teachers come into the class instead of how one class should be alloted for every subject and students should go into these subject-based classes according to the period it is so that they don't ruin their bodies sitting on a wooden piece all day. heck many schools don't even allow kids to walk around in the premises during recess!?!?!?
vocational subjects still don't mean shit to anyone. homework ke naam pe bas books se utha ke questions dete hein ya fir book se koi cheez notebook mein copy karlo bas instead of giving them ACTUAL assignments. to write about stuff and then teachers should check it thru proof-reading TECH. to give them group projects about, say, an animal species about observing its behaviour and taking pictures and compiling it into a presentation/document. to present in-front of the class their essays, writings, photographs, music talent, speeches, debates, just about ANYTHING. subject notebooks shouldn't even be a thing anymore. parents who send their kids to these privileged public and private schools can pay lakhs for school fees and tuition but not for a ₹20-25k chromebook!? governments can distribute windows laptops for free when elections are near but on the other hand can't give school kids cheap chromebooks to study!?!? urgh. many schools in small districts don't even have basic things done right like proper benches, windows, floor etc. no one fixes anything.
books mein cover aesa hona chahiye, sticker yhi waala lagaao sirf, gel pen use karna hai dot pen nhi, uniform aesi honi chahiye, haircut aesa hona chahiye blah blah blah dude why does stuff like this matter AT ALL?!?!? har cheez se matlab hai inko except jis cheez se actually matlab hona chahiye..
KG kids in most schools are taught from such a young age that boys and girls should sit in different rows and eventually makes them develop behavioural habits over time which make them uncomfortable around the opposite gender. its just sad.
and did i even mention ki pdhaai ke naam pe pdhaaya kya jaata hai (especially history!???) or how the exam system and board exams are a total mess and just focus on ratta maaro + limited maths solving skills of students!? or how sports ke naam pe bas month mein ek baar dhoop + ghaas dikha di jaati hai and how sports teachers have absolutely no expertise in sports or even in basic physical training!?!? the whole 'sports & p.e.' system is an absolute fvcking joke.
or about how SRE Education doesn't even exist AT ALL and as a result stuff related to it is still considered a taboo among teens & parents and our society!?!? like there's a reason that even 12th standard kids hoot and shout during reproduction lectures. there's no sexual maturity required for their age whatsoever.
or how coaching institutes are a fucking cult at this point and shouldn't even exist!? or about how students are forced into just two fields (doctor/engineer) so much so that over 1.8 million kids appear just for medical entrance exams and about 1.1 million for engineering exams every year!?!?!??
or about how there's no proms, no homecoming events, no field trips, no visiting events, no fun, NOTHING. just boring sitting all day in a chair stuff or doing basic teachers ki mazduri stuff smh.
uhhh there's just SO MUCH WRONG that i can go on and on and on for hours without stopping. its ridiculous.
typed everything i could think of and i'm pretty sure there's still, STILL room for more points...
our education system needs fixing. a lot of it. there's no education and there's absolutely no system.
and it can't even be fixed quickly. decisions (if) made from the top MUST trickle down to the local school level in every district of every state, which requires very strict decisions. even if you impose new guidelines, the staff members of every school in the country would still consist of the same lazy dumbasses who have no idea how to run schools. changing parents' mentality would take time & efforts too (but then if you think about it, most parents would happily accept anything & everything that the schools shove on their kids so i think that part is sorted to say the least..)
fixing this shit requires very bold decisions..

Dude i read this whole comment and it's 100% relatable, thankfully i was qprivileged to study at a good reputed missionary school and my school's environment was way better than most govt schools and even students in my school were all from good families. Now because of bad decision and timing I had to take admission in a govt aided college and enviornment in my college is totally different than what i am used to for 14 years, there is no proper infrastructure, nobody cares if teacher is coming or not, even the students here are from destitute families or from Tier 3 cities with no maturity, no etiquettes, or big dreams, they still live under a rock in their small world. It's not just their mistake but the background they came from, even our college is not doing anything to educate them and improve their personality, i feel odd between them 😔

I was pressurized indirectly to take science when I was in 10th grade and later on I struggled, Even though I was good at math and genuinely enjoy it ( specially statistics ) for my math teacher who is incredible. I later on had to drop Physics Chemistry and go for commerce subjects ( I still had math )... This made me waste 7 months and I had to drop a year... So I think everyone should be extra careful and not be influenced by peer pressure or family pressure, because at the end of the day its your life and people are not going to live it for you...

The education in any country can never be fixed. Because, people don't study according to a system. They study according to their interests. Back when I was in college, I gravitated towards coding, mysticism and self help. They were my main interests. Although I was in a good college, I didn't like attending college fests. I liked hitting the gym. People will never follow a system no matter how good it is. And every system is made for the masses. Meaning, every system is designed to incorporate the basic level of understanding of different verticals, so you can master one vertical and gain in depth knowledge to make a career out of it.
Which is why, I say, no education system is good. A system will be built for a wide variety of students, so the bare minimal, which is surviving is fulfilled. The bare minimal is satisfied by binding people via habits, which is the most primitive form of memory. Such trait will be found in the people who desire only survival. The other end of spectrum, which is the students who get good GPA, will never like education, because they will hate theory and they will love practicals. Which is why, they will have an aim, a purpose in life.
The minimal thing we can do for students is teach them. You will ask, what? We have to teach them to consider 'why' and lay emphasis on 'why'. The current vibration of the planet is supporting the why, Which means, the current time is supporting reasoning. Any field of education which will have reasoning involved will be loved by students. And this love will be based on proficiency of the teacher.

The video was amazing. But the most important question is: "HOW DO U MAKE THESE CHANGES?" The standardized tests are the entry paths to multiples colleges across the country(or a state). All of these colleges aren't at the same level of infrastructure, fame, geographical advantage, etc. On one hand you may have top colleges in the prime locations in a city, as well as a mediocre college in the lesser known areas. As a result, the very foundation of these colleges aren't the same. How do you get a change in such an environment.
Getting the curriculum online, may seem the best solution, but its not viable for students with poor internet connection, or low quality electronic devices. Also, changing the curriculum takes a lot of time(I suppose). That's because this curriculum needs to be printed in every textbook, every professor needs to get an update of the change as they have to change their teaching methods for it. Hence, bringing a massive change, may cause a problem to majority of the professors and students.
Also, professors stick to the major parts of the syllabus, skipping on what is not generally asked in the exams. This is a big problem. But there's a reason for it. LACK OF TIME. In a single day, the colleges have to divide the day into multiple subjects, so that the syllabus can be covered within a few short months. How do you tackle this. The reason why tuition classes are so common in India, are because the give 2 or 3 hours for a single subject. Physics Wallah, Pace, Allen and other such classes follow this system. If we use this concept in our regular colleges, there would be at least 1 subject that would get ignored. Also, extra topics like, "Financial Literacy", "Public Speaking", "Entrepreneurship " would never it to the syllabus.
There are many issues with the education system. But solving them is the biggest problem. There isn't a single straightforward solution. Comparing the education system of India and the western countries, doesn't make sense. They have a higher per capita income, far less population, far less diversity in their population(income gap and ideologies) and stronger economy(with respect to the population size) as ours. The government needs to spend money and time of a lot of other problems like subsidies, basic welfare for the poor, etc.
There are more points to be considered before even thinking of changing the system. It would be great if someone comes up with an actual action plan to improve the education system. A simple effective plan (which may not be revolutionary) that would push India towards a better future.
(If you have read the entire message, I would love to hear insights from others. Btw, I'm not a wanna-be academic scholar, but an engineering student whose just trying to think about the world's system pragmatically. Also, I was bored, so wrote this........lol)

I completely agree with you that teaching should be respectful. Physical punishment or violence is never an appropriate way to discipline a child and is not beneficial for their confidence and personality. It can cause physical harm and emotional trauma, negatively impacting a child's sense of self-worth and self-esteem. Instead, it's much more effective to use positive reinforcement, clear communication, your thinking is great Mr. Varun Mayya👍

The IB board is targetting most of the problems, we get to choose a mix of commerce science and arts, induce technology into our learning via coding and using new interactive softwares and lastly are provided with a grade boundary of percentage ranges... Eg- 75-100 percent is a 7/7... Although this does not mean our papers are easy to score in, questions are very much based on how well u understand a concept over memorising the concept

Rote learning is useful skill to have for fields relating to literature, law, accounting etc. It's not as useful for most scientific fields. I am guessing identifying if the student wants to be selective/ keep all options open, and having a course structure where they are able to choose early on would be a good idea.

The nep was a good step in adding skills in students but unfortunately it is very poorly implemented.....I took AI in school as a skill subject but its syllabus is absolute bs. We have 2 computer labs in the school yet they teach coding on blackboard. They teach 'EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS' which really test the ability of a student to rote
In communication skills instead of holding some interaction between students, the teacher comes and writes the advantages, disadvantages and other stuff on the board.
    Frustrating 🥺

"Some" teachers get paid less then the guards, It's so idiotic is some sense, the sports teachers and the music teachers are getting paid more than the English teacher who us teaching English and also handling a plethora of other responsibilities and that doesn't end there it gets as low as 70k P.A. in tier 3 cities. Honestly, it sucks being a teacher in this country. You just need to ask the peon or guard about their salary to understand that how much the futureshapers are valued. It brings tears to my eyes. Sometimes I feel like simply giving up.

I think you could have had Alakh sir talk about one of the points.
If there is one thing I cannot point out a mistake in is the Research Part.
but this is a little like Tanmay's SRK vlog
The only difference is that he hyped and you guys did not but he should not be there just for the song, he could have spoken a bit, which would have gotten a better viewer retention, as if you include his cameos everywhere, the students of his platform, who do not have an interest in this channel ( their loss I must say), could watch the full video, they are people preping for JEE, NEET and need not watch this video at this point but will watch Alakh Sir at the cost of their lives
Though the video was excellent, I fell you could have done better here, but hey, to get him for this much part is big, and congrats and kudos to you and team for that
Banger of Video as always, Well researched, welll created, and well presented, and the cherry on the top is AlakH Sir

The reason why most students from tier 1 and 2 cities who can afford and some who take loan to study abroad. The Economic Times even wrote an article on this where they analysed how most Indian students who go abroad go to tier 2 and 3 colleges just because an average or above average Indian high school student will never be accepted by tier one colleges because of our curriculum. Most students who attend universities like Stanford or Harvard or MIT are either tranfer students from IIT's or have grown up in rich places like South Bombay or have some extra ordinary quality. When you say that you have studied maths for just 2 years of high school (students who take arts and commerce without maths in class 11 and 12), are rejected right away in most cases.

When a student couldn't answer a question, the prof who took our signals and systems course would say that it was his (the teacher's) fault that the student couldn't answer. This prof prepared fresh for his class and you could tell because his notes weren't on old brown paper. The prof never took attendance but even the otherwise most disinterested student would attend his class.

While I agree with some points like eliminating the rote learning, not forcing to choose the stream so early, elimination of punishment, using latest tools in education for more efficiency. I think the concern that education should be driven by market trends/"latest tech" is superficial and harmful in the long term. What's trending is just 'some' possible applications of the fundamentals of a particular field. It is for teaching these fundamentals and making them the second nature of learners that institutes should exist, not for producing "practical" things (that should be the purpose of companies having employees from such institutions). The deeper students know the fundamentals, the better they can do the "practical" things, it adds to the innovation and efficiency not subtract. In fact, I would argue no growth in industry is ever possible without the knowledge of these fundamentals. It's about the subtle and the gross, the more subtle the understanding of the fundamentals, the greater the quality of products in industry. Focusing on gross and leaving the subtle is like a person saying he wants to learn to ride that cool superbike in market without learning to first ride the bycycle or a student refusing to learn the basic arithmetic operations by calling it outdated and saying that why should he learn it when that casio calculator can do it? Or a computer science student saying why should he learn linear algebra (and other discrete maths) when there are libraries like numpy, scipy to do the job of matrix calculations? The thing is if people don't understand the basics, these tools will be just like blackboxes to them and will have no understanding of how they work. This will lead them to produce mediocre results in the long term. The proper way is to first understand the basics deeply and when the time comes to apply to do something on a large scale- apply those basics using tools to whatever extent is required. Gross, people can learn by common experience, common-sense, trial and error but the subtle needs emphasis, a systematic, fun-to-be-in structure, to understand which is what should be the role of our schools and colleges.
