    Heres how I look at it, for the GS, its essentially a zo6, with some minor aesthetic changes, but importantly it loses the supercharger.
    The zo6 blower is the main thing holding it back from major power. So a GS is a perfect platform to build your own SC or turbo system to get that 1000hp people love talking about.
    Seems like if you would like to add power to your z06, you may be better off getting the GS as a stock platform to build on.

    Best sports car for those with good sense. I would get the GS. It's just right. Anything more is just wasteful overkill. Very fast and agile and it sounds great too. There you go. Chev did good here.

    • @zinnyc6757
      @zinnyc6757 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't call it wasteful. If you're tracking it and you're skilled you can handle any power. But I get what you're saying. Most people's pocket and skills don't match.

    Nice review. Minor note... it has 15.5 /15.3 inch rotors... not calipers... in the front/rear. That number measures the diameter of the rotor. Calipers are usually classified by the number pistons the have. As an aside these are basically the same Brembo CCB brakes you'd get on a Ferrari 458 Speciale.

      Kinda true but there is really no comparison between the 2 corvette is a stand alone car you cannot even compare it to a Porsche anymore the most basic 911 is 97 grand the mustang is a sport coupe like the Camaro or bmw m3 vette is a true sports car.

    nice video. But you are bit off on the Z06. I have a 2016 Z06 Z07 3LZ and have driven 6 different C7's on track. If you can drive at a competition level, you want more than 650hp. But my bone stock Z06 feels better on throttle tip in. The engine is more alive at normal driving... Still easy and approachable but the engine feels so good it's intoxicating. The GS feels like a much less potent engine driving around town and I do not have a heavy foot. You should drive a Z07 Z06 and recalibrate.
    I use up all the power and go 7 seconds a lap faster than a Grand Sport. The 1/4 mile time is sub 11, so it's 0.7 seconds faster there. It hits 60 in under 3 seconds so it's 0.65 seconds faster to 60. That said, the GS is a terrific car... and your car is gorgeous. By the way, I have 120k miles on mine...

    You forgot Weather mode. The seats aren't cooled, they're vented. If you want an even better bargain, get a Z51, put on wider Cup 2 tires and you're with 9/10ths of the GS for a lot less. Base C7s are 455 bhp standard, 460 if you have the NPP. There are 3 different speedo/tach read outs, you only showed 2. Also what should be noted is that with the Z07 package your top speed is reduced due to drag. All in all though the review was spot on, had you had more time then I'm sure you would've touched on all the points. Also, with the Z, GS and Z51 you get another 5 track modes (PTM) when you're in track mode. You also should've mentioned the performance data recorder (PDR). Sorry if I'm nit picking, I don't want to sound like a douche, I'm just a C7 owner who is just trying to show just how good of a car it is, not that you haven't. :cheers:

      Eh, should be pointed out that a Z51 is only 9/10ths of a NON-Z07 Grand Sport. In that case yeah the Z51 is a better deal. But a Z07 Grand Sport is a HUGE leap past the Z51, for example the aero, carbon ceramic brakes and entirely different suspension.

    • @kennybrown9337
      @kennybrown9337 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be surprised by how little difference there is in cost. The GS includes a few features that are options on the Z51.
      I priced both cars to the specs I wanted and the GS was only $3,000 more than the Z51. At this price point that seems like a pretty good deal for the wider wheels/better brakes/nicer looks.

    • @themonk1327
      @themonk1327 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just priced a '16 Stingray 1LT w/Z51 $61,445 and a '16 GS 1LT was $66,445.

    • @kennybrown9337
      @kennybrown9337 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Myron Gibbs you must have different requirements than I do. I didn't even compare the 1LTs because I wanted all the electronic goodies that come with 2LT. The great equalizer for me was the magnetic ride which is included on the GS, but an expensive upgrade for for the Z51.
      I do not deny that you can get a Z51 quite a bit cheaper than a GS, but when I priced out equally equipped 2LTs I wanted the Z51 was about $68,000 and the GS was about $71,000.
      In all fairness I priced 2017 models because they didn't make a GS in '16 ;)

    • @themonk1327
      @themonk1327 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't add in MRC so you may be correct. On that note, I priced out one shock for MRC, 720 CDN my cost (I'm in the car business) from the dealer, 299 USD on eBay. Both mine are leaking, I already had one replaced under warranty but sadly my base 3/60 warranty is up due to time. I can't believe the cost of these f'kn things....nuts.

    Uhhh, 3.8 seconds vs. 2.95 seconds for the Z06. Where did you get your numbers? Big difference.

    • @marshalluniversity31
      @marshalluniversity31 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its 3.6 for a grand sport with auto, and 3.3 for a Z06. Some places have the ZR1 numbers mixed for Z06. The ZR1 is 2.85 0-60. The 2.95 0-60 you quoted includes optioning the Z07 AND INCLUDES A ROLLING START. It is 3.3 seconds for a true 0-60.

    the GRAND SPORT SHOULD HAVE AN UPDATED LS7, 7SPEED MANUAL. The standard engine does NOT have sufficient power to carry the TALL SPOILER. TOO MUCH DOWN FORCE. A 427CID, naturally aspirated version should do the trick. are you listening CHEVY? ???

    How's about an engine unique to the vette GRAND SPORT. A 427CID NATURALLY ASPIRATED OHV VERSION, UPDATED & New & improved LS-7. A very real unique 'VETTE. NO 460 ponies is NOT ENOUGH. Let's see what 500 plus can do.

    I've driven more than one c7 z06 on track, it is NOT to much power at all. you realize there is a foot pedal on the right side that regulates power?

    • @deangrant6339
      @deangrant6339 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy Pobst complains about the Z06s ability to get the power down. Now if you wanted to you could put race slicks on it on the track. Comparing it to the CTS V is stupid because of course a heavier car has more traction, the Tesla comes to mind.

    • @gtperfection1596
      @gtperfection1596 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      snakeskinner2 you have obviously never owned a 600 plus hp car for an extended period of time in most parts of the US you simply cannot use the power for any more than a fleeting moment then you half to brake immediately or risk going to jail so you are always exercising self control with 465 hp you can actually enjoy it more.

    • @gtperfection1596
      @gtperfection1596 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dean Grant correction in both MT head to heads were the C7 ZO6 lost both times the overwhelming census was that the new ZO6 was uncontrollable at the limit and NOT finished the chassis cannot handle the power that well I owned a C7 ZO6 as well as a C6 ZR1 both fun but the only thing keeping on the road is the traction control not the chassis too much power .

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're a fucking idiot and you forgot to mention that in one of those tests, the Z06's rear end alignment was out of whack, which is what CAUSED the alleged instability. Once that was fixed it was MUCH more controllable. Because that's what happens when your alignment is not fucked up any more.

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @ Dean Grant - Randy Pobst was driving a Z06 that had a BAD REAR ALIGNMENT. When they FIXED IT, he specifically said it was much more controllable, and it went on to win the race after they re-tested with the correct alignment.

    You said, "... it has all of the Z06's 'go fast' bits except the supercharger... ". Actually, it has none of the Z06's "go fast" bits. The Grand Sport's LT1 is a VERY different engine from the Z06's LT4. The only thing they share is the volume of the block itself (at 6.2L). The LT4 is built with forged components to make it strong enough to withstand the supercharger's additional 190hp as well as the compression differences and other boring engineering-related stuff. The similarities between the two models are in the aerodynamics, braking, etc.. I'm sure it was just a poor choice of words, so no worries. There are a slew of people here saying they would just get the Grand Sport and supercharge (or turbocharge) it themselves and, for all intents, have as good or better a car than the Z06. Again, the LT1 isn't built for that kind of power so you'll need to compensate by changing multiple internals or you're going to be driving around with the clock ticking on engine (or transmission) failure. The two cars are very different because they're built to be very different. Great post. Cheers.

  • @fighting17chicago
    @fighting17chicago 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Actually, we've been driving on the correct side of the road before your country even existed. Other countries just changed to be different. Also, our right eye sees better than our left according to scientists, so if the steering wheel os on the right side of the car, and you drive on the left side of the road, you can see the road ahead better. So you drive on the wrong side.

    Who's going to buy the zo6 over this? It's basically the same car For much less. I say this because who wants a supercharger that would not be reliable in the long run. A N/A v8 with a manual is great and a simple classic recipe. Plus is lighter...

      not as much in comparison but reliability always depends on how much you abuse it. I'd imagine to get this Grandsport for daily driving over a Z06. Driving a supercharger car too much gimme headache lol
