      In some senses. I use Vital and Surge together. Surge's wavetable oscillator sounds better IMO, it has more filters, and they are about to add 4 new oscillator types. If you want you can mix and resample wavetables in the free Vital with any of it's parameters then export them as .wav files and use them in Surge immediately.

    If I hadn't bought it already, I would get it right now after watching your video. This thing is amazing!

    Having so much control over wave structure is what makes Vital so attractive. But now that I have it, I don't know what to do with it; almost. Discovery is a fun part of the process. Still, a manual would be most helpful. At least we have people like you that are willing to explain things better. Thanks.

      Your opening sentence makes it seem like you’d know how a synth works.

      having patched synths since mid-ninties, i can say ...yes i ALSO see the Value of hearing about the synth from the dev/engineer in the form of a manual. Anyone who has ever read the classic hw manuals or fantastic user guides from U-he, fully understands why this is always a goldmine.

      @@nsjx Yeah i keep the reason manual handy and it's so helpful
      learning keyboard shortcuts as well can never hurt

      It's cool that Vital lets you control the wavetable with so much detail, but everyone I've seen on TH-cam that actually uses this feature just basically makes random shapes to see what happens. This is the first video I've found that actually explains the logic behind the adjustments he's making.

    19:45 Perfect track opener sound. Wow, this synth impresses me more and more every time I look deeper into it.

    I appreciate this walk-through. I only have the U-he wt's and some hardware Waldorfs so this in-depth 'editing' is a new thing...wild wild...almost too wild...like a rabbit hole ;)

    thanks for the in-depth swimming lesson.
    off topic, but relevant: the gate on the voiceover mic would benefit from a more gradual release time, a higher noise floor, or some combination of both. The way it keeps dropping completely out is quite hard on the ears, and actually highlights the mic noise more that masking it. If it helps, that mic pre could come down a few dBs and still be plenty loud, though I'm not sure if this would miss this preamps particular sweet spot.
    again, thank you for this. I'm noticing with many sounds so far that quite a lot of magic can happen about 5-10 steps in any direction from the init patch. This means some patience for the pleasure, but not nearly as much and so much more (respectively) than some other highly flexible synths and processes.

    Hi, if you removed yourself from the screen (we can still hear you), we could see Vital (resized) and what you're doing with it better and, to boot, be less distracted. Thanks for the tutorial.

    Did you know you could just enter "C0" in the window size? It'll automatically adjust it to the correct amount of samples.

    • @dreamaera
      @dreamaera 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could you elaborate?

    • @mafketel7528
      @mafketel7528 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dreamaera Whenever you load a sample in the wavetable editor, there is an option "Window Size". If you know the exact tone or key of the sample you are loading, you can enter it and it will translate it to the right window size. If you have a vocal sample that is on C3 for example, you can type "C3" and press Enter.

    quick question if i want to do the "double audio file" setup you just did in the "fades" 12:00 section of your video, what can i do instead of drag and dropping my samples ? when i try to import the second one, whichever previous audio source i had open gets deleted when the next one gets imported. this doesnt happen with drag and dropping it though... so what gives ? am i not doing it correctly ? thanx in advance

    How do you turn on the harmonics when they're gray? Only a few wavetables like the init and basic shapes already have them purple ready to edit harmonics, most are gray and you can't edit them.

    what is Vital PC specifs ?
    PC intel i7 , 8 Mo RAM, NVDIA GT 440 + ASIO Hamerfall ADAT PCI-E, + CUBASE,
    even after installing C++ 2015-2020, tryed on windows 7, tryed on Windows 10 , Windows 11 :
    VITAL never launched, always crashes. The ONLY VST plugin to never launch.
    What must i do to make it work as seen in your videos ?

    I had trouble to load single cycle. Not sure why. But only when I set the blend to none, then it loaded it correct shape. The number of samples was 2048 and it loaded it incorrect shape.

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah its in the works... two banks actually. One with a bunch of psytrance presets I've been working on and then another project. Picked up a JP8000 so in the process of sampling all the waveforms and creating custom tables and using those to do a JP inspired bank too.

  • @Martin-vj7zx

    The thing is, if you dont create your own wavetables, you can't really say it's your own sound, unless you just work with the basic shapes

    Hey there nice video! is it possible to modulate the Wavetable- and/or preset selection? or maybe the effect selection?

    • @MarulaMusic
      @MarulaMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can modulate pretty much everything, wavetable of course too although not the selection. You could easily create a fade between two wavetables though and resample it to a new one... not sure about preset selection although I don't see the point of that. Effects you could just turn them all on and modulate the dry/wet parameters.

    • @MarulaMusic

      I don't think so, haven't been using vital much lately. Not sure why you would want to repeat keyrames in a table though... I may be wrong but can't think of a use that I would want this features for.

    Why is everyone so overboosting frequencies around 200 Hz in voice recordings? This continuous boo-boo-boo just blows your head.
