I'm so excited for lent. I'm giving up videogames, reading more catholic devotional books, attending daily mass, continuing to follow Fr. Mike’s Bible podcast, and watching almost only catholic videos on TH-cam! I really want to just learn more.
Traditional lent fasting is strictly vegan- no meat, dairy or eggs. No oil or alcohol. From midnight till 12 or 3pm. Fish, oil and i think wine was allowed on Sundays and feast days. One full meal was allowed and one small snack.
So many great ideas! I’ve decided to give up complaining and add being grateful even for the smallest things but after watching this I might add a few more things lol
Could you guys spare a prayer and maybe some of your lent sacrifices for my friend who is trying to go to confession after 27 years. They are finding the examination of conscience pretty tough.
I’ve heard some others such as: wearing the same outfit for church every Sunday of Lent, only wearing your wedding ring and no other jewelry, or paring down on all the excessive jewelry. I’m a pharmacy technician who wears a masks all day while at work, so I haven’t been bothering to wear makeup since it’s just going to be covered up, and I don’t wear a lot of jewelry anyway, besides my engagement ring/wedding ring, but I might try to just wear the same dress every Sunday. I have a purple dress, so it’s liturgically accurate.
I did the Lent quiz and it says I should read something! So I ordered the " no greater love" study set and the "contagious Catholic" book from ascension press. I think I can read both of these during Lent.
thanks for the ideas! i was thinking of giving up junk food (especially ice creams which I eat daily) but I wasn't too sure because i am already very very limited in what i can eat but instead i'm going to give up cursing (bad habit) and add praying the rosary everyday and reading more Catholic (and Medical) books
Come to think of it, the only thing I am really dreading (For context, I'm halfway through Lent) is Good Friday, as then I have to watch Passion of The Christ, that movie is REALLY hard to watch.
This year, I gave up what I always do. All recreational electronics, save for music. Exceptions are for Catholic or Educational reasons. I actually found I was in a state of mortal sin too, the sin of idolatry, specifically for games. I am so thankful that I gave up the thing I was idolatrous for.
I get migraines because of bad posture and I gotta say that ever since I started using a posture brace I haven't had any major migraines. So invest yourselves in a posture back brace. It can be uncomfortable at times but you could also use it as penance. Two for the price of one ✌😎☝(I'm not sponsored trust😅)
Can you make a video about covering you hair for lent? I remember you talking about it before but I am interested in doing it for lent but I'm just wondering the devotion and reasoning behind it?
Is there anyway we can get a pdf version of this list? I found a few that I want to try but I cannot remember where in the video they were said at. Thank you!

Give up the heat in the car. Me, in -40C weather in Canada.
Ouch! 😬
Sacrifice😅😅😅😅
No complaining,no gossiping.
Adding: waking up early, eating very simply, cold showers, and praying the litany of humility every day.
Thanks for giving us so many ideas!! You said a lot of things I wouldn't have thought of

I prayed about it and I’m actually giving up procrastination for lent. I’m also going to add journaling like last year!
I'm soo happy that i've found you chanel! I know i'm kind of late, but still this is very helpful

yeah, we should start writing letters again..i love that.❤️🙂
A weird traditional thing to give up for lent I found is your mattress and sleeping on the floor.
