I had seen Alien countless times already (first time was probably in the early 90s) but last year I had the chance to go see it in the cinema. It was kinda funny how there was the ad for what this cinema all had, with the laser projection and the Dolby Atmos and what not. And then the movie starts with its stereo sound and, compared to today, grizzled picture. Quite the contrast. But 5 minutes in, I am pretty certain that no one in the cinema noticed that anymore. I certainly didn't. What an experience to see it like this!
The place they filmed that Hovis advert was turned into a bit of a tourist spot - it used to have those Brown Road Signs directing you to it (not sure if these are still there, this was back in the late '90's when, while on a family holiday we happened across those road signs and decided to stop the car and have a look). Just a big steep hill and people taking pictures of themselves / their group walking up and down it. Not sure what we were expecting. Loads of Cafe's at the top - we had some overly expensive sandwiches and left without walking up or down the hill.
Will finally finish all available episodes of this podcast today, and have enjoyed a lot. With the star trek movies and dr who tv episodes, can I request a podcast after a play-through of the game Alien Colonial Marines, asking yourselves whether you have stopped being Alien fans after finishing that game?
Well, well, well. Look who it is. Decided to return, huh. The old Terrible Trio. And now with Alien I see! Yeah. Come back with Alien did ya. Yeah. AAAAAlien. Well maybe we don't WANT AAAAAlien! Ever think of that? Huh. Ok fine, we do and I will watch and like it, but don't go away again! You have been warned.
The Theatrical cut was definitely the better version of Alien. Whilst I liked the confrontation scene with Ripley and Lambert - it explains Ripley's mark on her face. I didn't like what they cut out, didn't like the reveal to the audience of the Alien dangling before Brett dies and the cocoon scene doesn't really work. It ruins the pacing and visually it doesn't match the rest of the film. And the Alien takes a swipe at Jones in the carry case, not realising that the cat is the ultimate predator. Movie was originally called Starbeast. Originally the crew were to be naked in the cryopods. That would have been an eye-opening introduction...
Having never watched any Dr Who, apart from the bits that made me not like it when i was a kid. I watched the episodes you suggested, and all it done was made me thankful that I've never bothered. It was truly awful, even with the great actors, it was just all terrible!
@jackcleverly766 I have, but personally, it only makes it less bad. It's hard to get over Newt and Hicks going out like that between movies, so I'm likely biased since that's the worst decision ever. The only thing worse was opening that Terminator movie by following on from T2 with Sarah being slightly nudged aside while John was killed
Dan and Dave sounds adorable besties, I love how much effort and passion goes into these videos
I'd say Alien is the ultimate horror movie, not just sci-fi horror
Lads well done. We all love you and all love this. You are the best
I like that there seems to be some amount of shared universe with Bladerunner and the Predator movies as well.

Would you consider doing an animated version of this podcast similar to the Ricky Gervais, Karl Pilkington and Stephen Merchant podcast?

Alien, Aliens, and Romulus are good.
Prometheus is 50/50.
Alien 3, Resurrection, and Covenant are bad
Alien 3 is ok if you see the cow/bull version over the dog version

Intersting dynamic... both informative and kind of annoying.
