Jinjer is my favorite band on the planet. But when I first started listening to them, I felt the same way about the music. There was too much going on and was too chaotic, and just didn't seem to flow. But, I kept listening because I loved Tatiana's voice. And, the more I did, the more the music fell into place. And when it did, it was amazing! I now can't go a day without listening to this band. Keep listening to the songs over and over. Your brain will eventually acclimate to the music ( or become Jinjerfied, as I like to call it ) and you will hear these songs in a whole new way. Judgement & Punishment is the one with reggae, by the way. You should definitely check that out. A lot more straightforward song than this one. And, Pit of Consciousness, which is my favorite Jinjer song!

I Speak Astronomy is the most proggy track Jinjer have done. I love prog, so I love the track, but it took me ages to figure out what they were doing in the early verses riff. It's one bar of 6/8, then one of 7/8, then another in 6/8, but divided into 4 equal intervals of 1.5 beats. I know. It messes with your head!

They do have some songs with a bit less going on (particularly their earlier stuff) but if you want to crack the "busier" ones then give them a few listens while concentrating on, or waiting for, the bits that really appeal (like the whispers for example). They're not being "too" Jinjer 😄 that more complex sound is the essence of what they have become

Yes, Pisces is about Astrology. Tatiana is a Pisces and it is kind of a peek in to her as a person. This one is Astronomy, a completely different thing that she uses an abstract while she is asking the Universe to deliver her a soul mate. Teacher Teacher was a studio recording with all the post-production tweaks laid over footage from different shows.

That sound you couldn't figure out at the end of Teacher, Teacher! is the bass. Eugene plays a chord really hard to make the strings pop. It's not exactly the same in this particular case, but the same idea was made famous by Mudvayne's Ryan Martinie which ultimately became the BrBrDeng meme. Martinie's playing is a huge influence on Eugene, they talk about it in this interview th-cam.com/video/FjfBF57h2Eo/w-d-xo.html

That sound was a bass guitar string being plucked really hard. No unusual post on her voice. In fact they have this reputation of making their live versions of songs better than the recorded versions. Not a dig on their producer Max but they tour so much and play together live that there is something about their live performances that the records haven't captured. Their song Judgment and Punishment is way more of a Reggae song than this. Not sure why someone said it was this one.
I Speak Astronomy is from the King of Everything album which is their first as a signed band with Napalm records. Just previous to this they had gone down from two guitar players to one. After this album they settled more into their three piece instrumental structure. Teacher Teacher was after.

Of course, everyone has a different palate, so which songs you can acquire a taste for & how long it takes will vary from person to person. People in the comments should have warned you that Jinjer change time signatures within a track many, many times. I saw you trying to nod along to the beat, especially during 'I speak Astonomy' where you kept losing the beat and could see it was starting to frustrate you. Mostly the changes in the time signature they use are very subtle and hard to notice, like during 'Teacher Teacher', where near the end we have Tatiana not singing at all and the beat is 1,2,3...1,2,3, then when she starts singing again the beat changes to 1,2,3,4...1,2,3,4.. So unless you are a musician that is used to counting beats the time signatures changes are very hard to spot. However, in 'I speak Astronomy', the changes are often and varied, especially during the first half of the track, and can seem very jarring for a first time listener

As for the second song, you are not quite right. You are missing one important detail, like the release date of the song. The song I speak Astronomy was released in 2016. Teacher Teacher was released in 2019, in the fifth album. This is the case when we see that over the years Jinjer has only gotten better and better. Listen to the first album and the last, the progress and experience is obvious.👍

Is Home Back about the war??? Thanks for the Support!

@@DaddyGoose_CB Home Back was written before the invasion that everyone (outside Russia) calls the war, it concerns the earlier annexation of Crimea and the Russian backed takeover of the eastern part of Ukraine - the part of the country that Tati, Roman and Eugene come from. Effectively the war on them and their families started far sooner and the world took very little notice until it escalated and moved nearer to Europe's border

@@janinebedfordl yep thats right, it started 2014 and in Crimean peninsula it has been ongoing everysince... But that song and video match for this ongoing "spezial military operation" as well... And end of all it is the same war.... Expanded a bit.... 😔
