I love that Serral has adapted his playstyle. His 2018 domination was off the back of insane infestor broodlord control. I think when ghosts become such a strong counter to that he struggled. I saw him lose quite often to Clem.
Now he is changing it up so much, even going for early timing attacks and dropperlords and nydus harass. He still uses infestors a lot which I enjoy as they're my favourite zerg unit.
It would also be cool to highlight the final game of ShoWTimE vs Serral, that game was one in a million

Serral has been on a tear lately. It took him a bit to adapt to the zerg nerfs, but he has looked unbeatable as of late. I haven't seen Maru get stomped like this in a while. Literally 4-1 maru and none of the games looked close except for the one he lost which seemed like an early tap.
Watching Serap play is like how I envision Zerg to be like but it’s insane he does this in a competitive setting

Serral really showing why he's the GOAT. You can audibly hear Showtime say "WTF dude?!" at the end of one special match between them in the series.
Maru's micro and mental discipline in defending against a superior supply count over and over is legendary. Serral's strategic thinking was something else.

There's nothing quite like watching Serral's swarm flood down Maru's defenses, over and over again.
ZG has improved so much on commentary, really great this match.
16:20 commentary here is on point. Might as well take a majority of workers from your well-secured natural expansions and drain the resources from the contested bases that your army already has on lockdown.
I'm surprised it's not done more often when you expect to split the map, or even as a threat against your opponent who is trying to go for a late game map split. Zerg often take those outer bases first, then the Terran will fight its way out and retake them. So why not drain those outer ones first, then come back and finish off the inner bases later?
@@arandombard1197 you risk your workers if you pause your offensive too long for a counter attack probably.
@@arandombard1197 Cos its a very risky move. Do that and both your army and economy is at risk.
@@lordbry470 Yeah, it's a difficult thing to balance. But eventually you will have to move your economy to the outer bases anyway, so now it's at risk but you have no alternatives.
A lot of Zerg - Terran/Protoss games seem to favour Terran in these situations so it feels like it might be worth the risk. Especially as the Terran/Protoss often just turtles knowing they will win due to efficiency, while the Zerg throws wave after wave at them. Use that defensiveness against them by draining the outer bases quickly, then when it transitions to the more attrition based end-game, none of your economy will be on the frontlines and they won't be able to push you back to take a base, as they will all be empty. Meanwhile, they're opening themselves up to be vulnerable as they start saturating their outer bases.
I'm not saying they should do it every time, just that's it an option. It's a bit like deciding to heavily drone up and neglect on your army, on the basis that you don't think your opponent will launch a powerful early attack and you can just out-economy them. If it works, it pays off but it can also be punished heavily.

I had to take a shower after that seeing Serral doing Maru dirty like that. It was like watching campaign Terran vs Zerg, Terran getting bled dry and eventually overrun. Serral playing really greedy helped so much against Maru.

Watching The Best vs The Best is remarkable. Normally both these players make SC look easy vs mostly everyone. But these 2 going at it just looks awesome!
This is coming from mostly watching Maru own with Terran and rarely really watching Serral. So seeing him represent that Zerg Rush vs a very good Terran almost looks cinematic. I really love watching these 2 fight.
Is it not worth it to use an scv at 11:20 to repair the hellions. Seeing them back at base i saw that raven was repaired but hellions went back out after still damaged. I wonder if the mine time was worth more then the repair time?

nah, this is literally the best player in the world. they only seem busted because his economy is so insane that he can re-up his baneling army 10 times

@@sebastianpalominos3706 Ghost killed the fun in ZvT. Counters infestors, vipers, ultralisk, Brutelords and lurkers becaue if EMP and Snipe. Nerf ghost, no variaty because of that stupid OP units obliterates everything.

Serral won the double elimination bracket so he gets to start the final with an extra win. Maru lost to Showtime in round 2 and then clawed his way back up the lower bracket.

I’ve taken about a year break from watching Starcraft but man idk if Maru’s age is showing or what, but he did not look on form from how I remember him while Serral looks as strong as ever

I know they skip most of the opening minutes in these highlight videos, but it's still insane to me how quickly Serral takes over entire maps. Even Maru can't turtle when he's down 3 bases to 7.

If Maru can't win there is a HUGE problem ! 1 banelings are way too cheap (rinse and repeat this doesnt take skill and Serral is one or the most skilled player) !!! Terran need anti ground static defense to stop those runnys like peotoss and Zerg can do ! Flamming Betties and Auto Turrets (remove them from Raven and give those the healing mech disk ability from Nova!

Welcome to Zerg 24/7, Terran keeps zooming drops left and right and if Zerg splits wrong he's dead while Terran can just zoom out if overwhelmed.
Bring back the Warhound unit for Terran. Might help them not be bottom tier all the time.

Zerg player's still feel ghosts need nerf. The state of Terran vs zerg is horrible. Zerg imba
Zerg got too good at defending drops. This turtle style the terran is forced in seems to be fading. Nothing really to change the meta, ghost counter like 80% of zerg army, mass ling bane is the only way
@@harrymaxwell8489 If they lose ghosts then they lose all late games against zerg. They have nothing that can compare to zerg late game units and are able to deal with zergling run/bys
@@uberculex I 100% agree. Just it's impossible to change the meta, but I've seen the terran win by having the zerg run out of minerals/gas
@@harrymaxwell8489 If they don't have ghost, they can't defend with favorible trades against things like ultralisks and brood lords with viper support. The viper negates seige tanks, liberators, thors with energy that can be recharged on a spore crawler.
it's not zerg that's imba, its serral... also, if the race was OP it wouldn't be the least played race in the world by a largeeee margin lol.
