@@ianthayer8688 I don’t think most people interested in this segment like this IS500 care about some interior lights, like they do about the aging transmission and tech. Personally, I find them distracting and wouldn’t care really about them all that much after the first week. Little bit would’ve been nice tho like on some of their other new products but maybe it will be on the refresh
@@topg1964 I have in my palisade and Mercedes and that is not a problem. Certain colors pop more and some are more subdued. So many automakers have it.

they could've done more to the interior by putting some ambient lighting, perhaps people wouldn't complaint too much about it then they offered ambient lighting on the RX and RC. a bit baffling this 'all new' IS is left out

Just makes me wonder what Lexus was thinking when they put a full LED light bar, taillights, reverse lights, interior lights, and headlights, BUT leaves the rear turn signals little halogens...
@@dylanw890 A common theory or as I call it an excuse as to why they do that is to prevent hyperflashing which is a function meant to tell drivers that a turn signal is out, though it happens when you try to update a stock halogen turn signal bulb with an LED as well. This is still not a valid reason for holding out LEDs for turn signals though because we have the technology to not only make LED turn signals but to also have a blinker module that is compatible with them. Carmakers shouldn't even be still using/making blinker modules that are only made to work with inefficient power draws of halogen bulbs. It's such a stupid excuse to holdout LEDs for turn signals. And while some say to just update the stock halogens with LEDs and buy resistors or get LEDs with built in resistors, those defeat the primary purpose of even upgrading to LED to begin with
So basically Todd have to add your own multicolor LED ambient light strips to make it look like the interior of a Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 series, Acura TLX, or Audi A4
I have a '16 IS350 FSport and except for the touchscreen closer to the driver, my interior is the same. I personally do not mind (or need) additional lighting, the car is lit up like a Christmas tree as is. :-) I can *possibly* see a very dim footwell lighting feature, but that's it.

No, they need to be using their turn signals and so should you. People who don't use turn signals need to get off the road. If you don't mind a single "regular" bulb, it should be the reverse light, NOT the turn signal. And these bulbs shouldn't even be considered "regular" anymore. They're outdated, inefficient, and there's virtually no reason to hold onto incandescent bulbs anymore. LEDs are better in every way. What people actually don't understand is that incandescent bulbs are a terrible way of creating light from electricity. Also, the question is not "when the LEDs go out", it's "if". LEDs really do last much longer, most often the lifetime of the vehicle. Failure of LEDs is much more rare than with halogen.

Do you notice the left headlight is not uniform. Like a little black spot right at the end where no light gets to. I see it in your video and same on mine.
I like Lexus, but the new Mercedes C200 interior is light years ahead. The IS on the other hand is a recycled product, relatively unchanged since 2014. The interior hasn’t changed a bit and it’s beyond dated by now. The new front end and side profiles are gorgeous though.
I think they definitely could’ve kept the current style of their dash layout but refreshed some of the HVAC controls and just in general as it is simple but outdated.
Great video, but your constantly adjusting camera was making me dizzy. If you upgrade to a camera that also works better at night, these videos would be incredible! I know this was a few years ago, so hopefully you have a much better video camera now. I'm sure you do 👍

It looks like to the left the car has a powered rear sunshade. Is that the case? Is this a US Spec - Production car? There is like no mention of that shade on any Lexus documentation. Thanks!

The problem with that though is that the resistor simply decreases the efficiency to the level the halogen bulb had and while this does get rid of the hyperflash, it defeats one of the main purposes of installing a new LED light since it will end up drawing the same amount of energy as the old bulbs
@@exoticcar5482 My bad, you are correct. I did this on my Honda Accord and I did not notice such symptoms. Perhaps I was too engrossed with the LEDs that I did not notice.
shame, can somebody tell me if this new version has puddle lights under the side mirrors when you lock and unlock the car???? almost 15 minutes, and he didnt even talked about that feature!!!

did you say there is a pocket at the rear doors? lol its so dark you didnt see there is no pocket storage at the rear doors....kinda funny in 2021 a sedan without any storage in the doors.....
