  • HERE IS AN ARTICEL ON PAUL CARDWELL'S ARREST IN THAILAND
BANGKOK - A federal fugitive was arrested in Thailand Thursday after allegedly fleeing the United States following charges of defrauding a Wyoming hospital of $850,000.
Paul David Cardwell was arrested following a tip provided to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Bangkok that Cardwell was residing in Hua Hin, Thailand. HSI Bangkok personnel traveled to Hua Hin and verified that the individual was Cardwell.
Royal Thai Tourist Police were contacted and Cardwell was arrested with the assistance of HSI Bangkok officials.
Cardwell, with other co-conspirators, allegedly defrauded a Wyoming hospital of about $850,000 and traveled to Thailand to purchase real estate with the proceeds. HSI Bangkok began an investigation into Cardwell's activities in Thailand.
Cardwell surrendered to federal authorities March 27, 2012, and was charged with violating numerous federal fraud statutes in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was released on bond following arraignment. As part of the condition of his release, he surrendered his U.S. passport. Cardwell illegally left the United States after attempting to procure another passport under a different identity.
Officials from U.S. Embassy Bangkok's American Citizen Services will be coordinating Cardwell's return to the United States. Cardwell will be held in Thai custody until he is transported back to the U.S.
This case is being investigated by HSI, the FBI, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
An indictment is only an accusation. In every criminal case, the accused is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, and the government always has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

I'm an expat who can read, write and speak Thai. I watched this guy on Paul's channel and noticed there was alot of inaccuracies in the things he said about the political situation in Thailand at that time. Having lived in Thailand for many years, I have found the reality of life here is far different from the sensationalist stories western journalists love to write. When I heard his story many red flags came up and I'm glad the truth has come out. We all want to give someone a second chance, but sometimes the old adage ' a leopard never changes its spots ' is more appropriate.

A good con artist needs to appear trustworthy and likable in order to win the trust of his victim. Con artists are charismatic, intelligent, have good memories, and know how to manipulate people's hopes and fears. They attempt to blend in, to look and sound familiar, and often work diligently at appearing to be smooth, professional, and successful. He fits the description perfectly. My Spidey sense was tingling the first time I saw him. Just like a con man he was looking for a Mark😁. Don't feel bad he's good at what he does. Thanks for letting everyone know the truth. Like they say the expats are more dangerous than the locals.

Agree yet Strongly Disagree, The Locals are far more Dangerous and that's often simply due to their numbers and the potential D£$RATion$ that many endure. To any expats here viewing the comments, don't let your guard down while in the Philippines or anywhere regardless if it's an expat or a local! And btw I do have years of experience to backup what is claimed in this comment!

Most of these guys are doing it because their dead ass broke and are scraping by and even a few bucks helps. I don't think it's really where a con man heads to.
And let's not forget, the crime, as serious as it was, was over a decade ago. When does that forgiveness thing ever kick in? Or is it one and done according to lofty standards established by you, some anonymous TH-cam hack?

Yes. I'm not defending his crime, but why would Mark think that the guy should tell people about his felony conviction? Does Mark feel that he's so important that this should not be hidden from him? Or that if he finds out about it, exposing it to everyone again after the fact is the right thing to do because he feels insulted? Most everything the guy told him was true. But Mark thinks that simply because he wouldn't have given the guy a hard time about it, that means that admitting to the conviction on youtube shouldn't be a problem..... uh, I don't think so. The nasty, vindictive comments on this thread tell you that it was eminently sensible for the guy to omit the fact of his conviction from the interview, but Mark's sanctimonious hit piece has put the kibosh on that and reversed any way to keep it under wraps.

As long as he is not actively conning people then I will watch his videos and take what's valuable to me -- just like watching your videos and taking home what's I could use. Is he running away from the law? Is the FBI after him? Then being on YT isn't the best place to be on, isn't it? Yes, learning that he was a healthcare CEO, even a VA hospital CEO then becoming a felon is certainly a very "interesting" scenario for me especially I'm a VA employee. Nonetheless, let the man turn his life around.

When I watched this guy’s interview on your show, I was suspicious of his story, especially about his arrest in Thailand. According to news reports and DOJ press releases, here’s what actually happened: He was first arrested in the USA in 2012 for embezzling around $1.7 million from hospitals in Indiana and Wyoming. While on bail (after being required to surrender his passport), he stole a relative's passport then fled the country. He was arrested in Hua Hin, Thailand in 2012 on a fugitive warrant from the USA then deported. In 2014, he was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. Since you have to serve at least 85% of a federal prison sentence, he must have emigrated to the Philippines shortly after his release then started his TH-cam channel.
I assume he’s staying in the Philippines on a tourist visa which would explain why Philippine authorities are unaware of his criminal record. Here’s what I don’t understand: He was also sentenced to three years of “supervised release” after serving his term of incarceration. While on federal supervised release, a person has to report to a probation officer once a month and can’t leave the state, legally, without first obtaining written permission. There’s no way he could get permission to legally move out of the USA while on supervised release.

I just watched a new video on World Zoom where this guy claims several years were knocked off his 10-year prison sentence on appeal. He was "frugal" in detailing how that happened but it would explain why it's possible for him to reside in the Philippines now. He glossed over the fact of how he lied on Mark's show regarding his 2012 arrest in Thailand. After reading numerous comments on his TH-cam channel, it's amazing how many people are only too willing to ignore his misdeeds and continuing lies and omissions of the truth. It's akin to reading remarks from members of the Trump Cult. Many people believe what they want to believe and become irate if anyone uses facts and reason to refute their cherished illusions.
