    45x4 watts rms is more than enough to make your speakers loud with no distortion. This takes a lot of complexity out. Putting a sub woofer and amp in your trunk is much easier to install than a 4 channel amp. There’s a lot more wiring and if you don’t run the power and av jacks down separate sides of the car. You’ll get a horrible buzzing sound. That’s why I love this power pack.

    Thank you for this detailed review! Can this amp be used along with a monoblock amp?

      It sure can be used with a mono block amp! There are varying parts needed to make it work with various car stereos. Which model radio will you be connecting this amp to?

    Nice review. Also liked the "down with dpp" ...ya you know me! I was gonna comment that lol...yep we're old.

    hahaha I love when he says "Are you down with PPP cause you know I am" hilarious!! I definitely have to try this setup out now that its more affordable because its 3 years old. I mainly need it because of apple car play and better sounding music out of stock speakers. Thanks for this great review!

      I was actually gonna make a post asking if this radio still holds up well in 2023. I'm looking to upgrade from a factory radio in my 2008 Silverado. Not looking to break the bank, just looking for something with Bluetooth functionality, with a decent looking display, and enough power to make some 6.5"' speakers sound good. I can get the ILX 650 for $299 right now off Amazon, found the KTA 450 BNIB locally for $100, and I figure harness and dash kit I'd spend about $40 or so. So for around 500 or so I could get the radio, power pack, and all the installation components. I figure that's not too bad compared to some of the radios I looked at that are like $700+

    I have the W650 setup with apline type r 6.5 components in the front and alpine type r coaxes in the rear for 4 speakers total, and it seems like the factory radio puts out more than 16w per channel. I’m at the point where I’m not sure if adding this amplifier would be worth it or not. Speakers rating is 150rms 300max

      We need to know the exact year, make, model, and specific trim of your vehicle to confirm any speakers that are a physical fit. The Alpine S2-S69's below are an excellent call, but we cannot provide any fitment details without knowing your exact vehicle. Use our online Vehicle Guide to enter your details and see if the Alpine are a good fit!

    Will it run hot with after market Jbl stadium speakers 3ohms 365watt peak (front) 255 watt peak (rear)

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This amp can work down to 2 ohms. 3 ohm speakers will not cause it any issues!

    I've been thinking about adding an amp to the new HU I just purchased. A big concern for me is I have dogs and hair gets almost everywhere- but not behind the dash. I'm assuming hair could get into an amp and cause problems (?) if mounted under a seat or behind in the cargo area. This amp might be an option if mounted in the dash.

      We have not performed any specific tests on the effects of pet hair on amps. It seems likely that it would be similar to dust/dander in a typical vehicle which means it is not likely to cause issues for the amp. However, your idea of getting an amp that can be hidden behind dash or other paneling is a very good idea. It would help insulate the amp from all rogue particles!

    Will this work good w/ alpine r-s69.2 speakers that are 100rms OR do I need an amp that produces 100w RMS at 4ohms to get best sound. Ty

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This will power them fine, but 100 watts RMS would be "ideal". :)

    How do you hook them together? I bought both, and soon, they will go back because I can't wire them together myself without instructions.

      Crutchfield yeah those instructions should be clear on how to hook up the amp to the matching head unit that it was built for.

    I have a towncar with a factory amp. I already have the alpine ilx-w650. What do I need to do to make this work in my car? Remove factory amp?

    Great video with good info; now if only you could get the guy talking in the background to understand that you have to be quiet while you're shooting a video if you aren't the one on camera.

    Does my 2013 Nissan Frontier need a power cable ran to the battery or can I run off of what is already supplied to the head unit?

    • @deeeezel
      @deeeezel 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You shouldn’t need to run from the battery, most cars have aux power outputs at the fuse panel under the dash for factory add on features.

    I don't get why the white diagram is upside-down compared to the numbers on the dip switches. Makes it where I don't know where to set the dip switches.

    It gives you more power just not enough for the cost. There are many amps now days for much cheaper that put out a lot more clean power.

      @j55f100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      50 watts rms is not bad at all and to be able to hide it behind a dash is pretty nice aswell. Not to mention those cheaper amps are quite bigger require larger pwr supply wires and are more likely to be stolen.

      Just adding the receiver alone compared to the factory unit made a big difference! You don't need the extra power unless you have a extra $200 burning a hole in your pocket. Add higher quality speakers and or a small sub with this unit. Adding additional power would certainly be a plus however not mandatory!

  • @danray9744

    50watt is way to low for any good speakers to sound good a 100watt amp Min !

  • @Mikkel111
    @Mikkel111 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pioneer has a 2-din with 4x50 Watt output.
    This seems like a waste.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That is Pioneer's peak power output. Their RMS power output is 14 watts per channel which makes this roughly 3 times as powerful as a Pioneer radio.
