    Just got my new Kona EV, and this immediately drove me mad. I always try to avoid speeding and I wouldn't mind if it were reliable - but it is NOT reliable. There are several speed limits near me that have recently been changed, and it's not up to date, so I was getting annoying beeps - arguably a danger in themselves because they distracted me from driving. Thank you for explaining how to switch it off. In my car I have a fourth option, where I can get speed limit information without the alerts. Sadly, however, I still have to select it whenever I turn the car on. TIP: hold the STAR key until the config menu appears, then select "driver assist". Then you can at least save a step or two and get to the menu at the push of that button!
    Someone should tell auto makers that "intelligent" safety features should not be forced on people if they are not ready. And this is not ready - its lack of accuracy makes it not fit for purpose.

    its completely insane. same problem here in Greece. The warning could have been just visual and the driver should have the option to decide whether he prefers a sound warning or just a visual one. This is a major problem

      It looks like it’s something we will all have to get used to on all modern cars, going forwards over the next few years, so all I can tell you is to persevere or switch it off at the start of each journey if it bugs you, thanks for watching!

    Crazy that it triggers at only 1 mph/kph over the limit. If you could set the threshold at e.g. 5% or 10% over the limit then it becomes a very useful feature, and one that most people would likely be happy to leave on all the time. Hope that they issue a software update to allow this because clearly it's a very unpopular feature in its present form. Doesn't help that it isn't foolproof either... in my short test drive it was telling me the limit was 80 when actually it was 30!

    You can actually turn it off before you start driving on every trip!
    Go to the settings menu where it shows you to deselect the warning and save it in your favourites (star button). That way its a short cut rather than having to go through the whole menu. DON'T do it whilst you're driving as otherwise the other alert will start chiming as you're not keeping your eyes on the road!!

    The problem I have is my car is so sensitive I can be driving on a national speed limit road and it’s bleeping at my to do 20/30 etc I’m guessing it must be picking up side roads and it’s driving me crazy. I also have considered getting rid of the car after only 4 weeks ownership from new.
    It constantly is inaccurately reading speed zones and beeping to the point of distraction! Our 2021 i30 never had this problem, if you were in a school zone on Sunday it would read 60kph not 40

    I'll never buy another car with this crap, the speedo reads 5kmh fast so at 60 on the speedo you're doing 55, if you travel at the speed limit then the speedo will read 5kmh faster and beep all the time. I came out of a carpark the other day with a 10km speed limit, being in a suburban area there were few speed limit signs and for the next 10 minutes in stop start traffic it constantly beeped. A pox on this crap, if you need this 'safety' equipment you shouldn't be driving.

    • @doolanbrian
      @doolanbrian  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most people don’t like these systems and they are imperfect at times but it looks like we have to adapt to these systems as all new European cars will have these functions going forward as GSR is implementing

    • @benthompson6326
      @benthompson6326 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or just get the European safety dicks to drive the cars… the distraction is horrible. You can’t use cruise control without going 3 km under the speed limit, because it doesn’t keep you at the limit efficiently and beeps at you til you slow down… the Mazda and Toyota new cars don’t do this, hyundai just being shit… everything else about the Kona makes me want to buy it. But I’m more seriously considering a used car because of how poor they’ve made this.

    It's hugely annoying. We bought a Kona for my wife last week and we love the car - but hate the lane assist and speed warning. I was delighted to find the way of turning both off, but aghast to discover that you can't turn them off permanently. Not to have that ability as a permanent option but to allow you to do it at the start of every journey is quite bizarre. It would help if you could adjust the speed parameters so it isn't going off every time you go 2 mph over the limit, but you can't even do that....
