Topwater pike fishing

Last year I set myself a goal to finally catch a pike on a topwater frog my brother wouldn't stop banging on about. Over that year it quickly became a favourite bait to use and with the river season well and truly started I wanted to see how quickly I could catch my first pike on it.
This venue wasn't available on my last visit to the river and with a shallower faster paced river, with features, weedy slacks and good visibility I'd seemed the ideal spot to go and chuck my favourite topwater lure the Storm SX-Soft Bloop Frog
I stuck to the lighter BFS setup but was really pushing it chucking out this slightly heavier lure
There's nothing quite like topwater pike hits and throughout the day I had some decent ones but the first one was absolutely spot on!

Thanks. Yes I did, I have some really nice light wire on, works really well

@LG_Fishing I'm definitely missing out, but not for long. I see in videos that a patient pull rather than a sharp strike works better to hook up.

@@ryandoherty6174 so they say, if you're using a frog then I find bending the hooks up a bit can really help with hookups. It does remove a bit of the weedless capability though. And again on frogs, if they have skirt like legs don't be afraid to trim them up if fish are missing the bait when they hit
