    I really want to do this rope/device upgrade. Looks so nice and compact. I currently use the Ropeman 1 and Tethrd ropes.

      I'll be able to go to one pouch and still have a little room in the top... so nice... I even have a back up prusik for safety...

    Ropeman1 for me for both the linesman belt and tether. No prusik backup on either moment but I do put a loose knot in the tether just below the ropeman once I am tethered in.

    I have, and have used the Ropeman 1 and 2, the Kong Duck, and CT Roll-n-lock. All work well, but I think the CT is the smoothest. I have switched to Oplux for my tether, but use a schwabisch hitch of Sterling TRC (?) with tender, since it doesn't adjust as often as a line man's rope. I use a mechanical ascender of one sort or another on line man's rope, depending on rope size.

    I use 8mm prusik cord. I prefer rope over metal wherever I can. If your prusik won't slide well, and it bites down too hard to adjust easy, research different "FRICTION HITCH"es. Prusik is 1 of many different types of friction hitches that can be tied and is the basic one.

    I use the Ropeman 1 on both lineman and tether. I'm thinking about switching to the CT rollinlock (sp) mainly for the pulley feature.

    • @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors
      @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      its an awesome ultralight pulley and rope clamp designed for work, rope climbing maneuvers. I also like that the rope does not sit against the carabiner it's against the aluminum within the CT Rollnlock

  • @leafinitup1

    Ropeman on the lineman’s belt, and Prusik on my back tether. (I never liked the feel of the ropeman between my back and the tree). That rope is a dream and I’m bummed that I just missed a little sale on it. I was planning to get the Kong with it, but not sure what the difference is with the one you got.

    • @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors
      @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i'm waiting on my Kong's to get here so I can actually see it and play with it... It was my understanding when I was looking at both to get the KN rating the Kong has u have to run the rope through the carabiner... I want to actually see it in my hand to see what they are referring to... the other nice thing about the CT rollnlock it is so light and it can also double as a pulley if needed...it locks open...really nice... I like that the Rope does not rest up against the carabiner but the unit itself.

    I'm currently using a Ropeman 1 on my Trophyline tether and lineman's belt. I typically use an autoblock attached to my lineman loop for backup. I'll be switching to 8mm Resc Tech next year so looking at a Kong Duck or possibly looking at an ATC with autoblock backup. After this video, I may have to take a closer look at the CT Roll-N-Lock.

    Love your videos. I also have the Wild Country Ropeman 1, and the CT Rollnlock. I wanted the pullstring as well. I used 1/8 amsteel for mine. I did a continuous loop to form mine. Then did a lock stitch in the middle to form that figure 8 shape. Nothing wrong with the wire cable at all, but I do prefer the amsteel over the wire on my wild country ropeman. Just a idea for anyone who has any 7/64 or 1/8 dyneema (amsteel).

    Mark, have you looked into the Wild Edge KISS line system? I run the Sterling Oplux myself (LOVE IT!) and have ordered their 6mm continuous loop and their poor mans aider in order to make the KISS system. I see a lot of benefits in the KISS system in terms of weight, ease of use and quiteness. Personally I used the ropeman 1 all season last year with the 8mm Oplux (as did a lot of others) with no issues, however I know it's technically not rated for that.

    • @MarksWorld-GetOutdoors

    I'm using an Oplux as my tether with the WEI prusik that fits it well. Then I have a carabiner attached to the prusik. I don't move my prusik so I tied a loop in the Oplux which the prusik pulls tight against. I attach my carabiner 2 another Oplux which is attached 2 my saddle. I climb the 🌳 with a 14mm Predator rope & that attaches with a carabiner to my Predator linemans rope which came with my Predator flex saddle.

      The CT rollnlock is a much stronger rated ascender. There is a guy on youtube that does a comparison of the two. I use a CT rollnlock as well and I love mine.

  • @jandblawncare8570
    @jandblawncare8570 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Like you said, the likelihood of a failure is almost non-existent, in fact I think there's a better chance of a deer climbing up your tree and biting you in the ars lol. I cant remember if I said it in another video but after hooking up the Prusik tenders, the knots are pretty smooth to operate but a mechanical device is like butter so I'll be adding one (probably the Kong Duck) to my lineman rope and using a VT knot on my tether, just have to add a eye to eye 6mm prussic cord and a micro pulley (like 30 bucks) and that VT knot is so much better than a Prusik IMO.
