    From the owner; starts first turn of key with touching gas pedal. Very clean pull to redline, butt dyno quicker than fat Nikki and very much snapper. Still need to let it warm up a little before driving off, same as any rotary; should always like them warm up. Little stumble at steady state cruise around 3K RPM.

    was already gonna put a Sniper on my 1979 Grumman StepVan with a 350ci, and these vids just helped convince myself and my daughter that her 1985 12A RX-7 needs one too. I'll try and get a buy one, get a second with a rebate offer ;)

    I came across your channel while pondering a new project: a rotary powered home generator, around 10kw. I was researching stand-alone EFI systems for a rotary to make the generator more automated. Will keep the sniper in mind.

    Thanks for documenting the whole process! I’ve been really interested in getting a sniper setup for my ‘88 RX-7 NA but can’t bring myself to take the stock manifold off because it’s running so well. I’m glad there is more and more info surfacing about sniper use on rotaries. As the stock parts become less and less available, these snipers are going to be a more common occurrence, and I’m excited for that!

    Damn. I'm going to watch that build series. Yes the kit is expensive but with fuel prices high you can make the assumption that you're going to ride further with a full tank (free way mostly)

    Very interesting. I'm a traditionalist so if I manage to rescue the 1982 GSL I'll probably start out with the stock Nikki but I might go to the Sniper one day. Or......if I find the floors in the 1981 with moss growing on the carpet are solid and it won't be too cost prohibitive to rebuild the interior maybe I'll restomod it and do the Sniper there. But I'm new and have much to learn.

    Just a quick question, I want to go with a sniper set up on my 12A (its an RX7 12A in an RX2) which has a big street port, big exhaust ports, and the same style of RB street port exhaust system the '67' RX7 has. Would you still use the 2-barrel Sniper or go for one of the larger ones like the 4150 stealth? I would be setting the rev limit at 8000 because I use standard Mazda apex seals. 2 or 4 barrel Sniper? Which do you think?

  • @eastman5181
    @eastman5181 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Doubling the displacement in the computer makes sense.
    From what I'm told, when sizing a turbo or supercharger for a rotary, you effectively have to double your numbers and run a larger turbine or blower than convention might indicate. Rotaries are weird and flow twice the air of a piston motor of similar displacement

  • @p.romvig4202
    @p.romvig4202 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Could your tuning problem be with the intake? I know people been having problems with the efi on dual plane intakes solving the problem by machining out the center on the dual plane intakes. From holley tech - You may find that to get the Sniper to play well with a dual-plane that you'll have to install a tapered open spacer so the Sniper sensors can see what's happening with vacuum and for the IAC to function properly.

    • @RADPotential
      @RADPotential  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was just a tuning issue. The car has been tuned by a professional Tuner and it's smooth as gravy!! But I'd think that dividing the 2bbl sniper, one barrel to each rotor would increase the snipers ability to self learn

  • @Drunken_Hamster
    @Drunken_Hamster ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One thing I want to point out that would explain it starting better on a 140CI setting is this: Despite technically being called a 1.2 or 1.3L, that is calculated per combustion chamber/event, and each rotor has THREE of those per revolution. So technically, a 13b is 3.9L. This explanation also works to explain why these engines require such LARGE turbos, particularly on the hot side.

    • @Drunken_Hamster
      @Drunken_Hamster 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Updated knowledge: It's double the firing interval, not triple. 3 displacement chambers for 3 rotor faces, but it only fires twice per rev not 3x.

  • @brucewhittle1255

    As carb rotaries tend to run quite rich (especially on startup) plus spit out unburnt fuel when operating, does the Sniper correct that?

    • @RADPotential
      @RADPotential  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's still a bit rich for start up compared to a piston engine. But its way more efficient. Jeff has been running this setup since the videos with no issues!!
