ya know, we had Canada day canceled up here, but were gonna celebrate on the 3rd and when they lit the fireworks last night, I started to pray for all the children that were lost to the residential schools, and imagined each firework as a child set free into a burst of energy I was quite emotional afterwards, I was kinda crying, I braided my hair put on my choker and wore my moccasins and a orange hoodie. as everyone cheered I was in tears. but It is a beautiful way to look at the situation. so, when ya get ur fireworks over there pray for the kids that lost their lives and are being set free, in each firework across the country

Residential school survivors must no longer bear the great burden of retelling their experiences in order for the truth to come to light and for them to be believed by the rest of Canadian society. I call upon the Government of Canada to give a FULL account of their sins to Canada at large. No longer can these horrific abuses be conveniently kept by the Government of Canada as a matter for the indigenous to bring to light, piece by piece.
I say this as a white Canadian.
Our government is complicit in this secret. WHEN were they planning on telling us??? Telling us that if I were indigenous, I would likely have several aunts, uncles, cousins who went missing as children?????? When they were at school??????
This is just so perverse. WHEN was the government planning on telling us non- indigenous????? How can we walk together and support you when we have no idea what has been going on??
Yes, we were told that children were taken from families (which is absolutely cruel). We were told about missing and murdered women. That took a couple of decades to trickle into the mainstream.
WHEN was the government planning to let out the news of murdered children at the hands of the Catholic residential schools?
Survivors give accounts of widespread, regimented ritual psychological, physical, and sexual trauma. Of Beloved schoolmates that one day just disappeared.
When I read TH-cam comments on various news sites, I see that too many non-indigenous Canadians are STILL being left to suppose that many of these deaths can be attributed to disease. This is where the GAP of misunderstanding is NOW, and has been allowed to exist between peoples for decades.
Misunderstanding creates divides and disunity and disenfranchisement. Because of a LACK of INFORMATION that was ALLOWED to perpetuate - by those in government who knew better.
They could have created widespread societal understanding. They could have nurtured enfranchisement. Instead they chose to hide the most vital truths that could have made such a huge difference.
Saving face in the political realm was more important than fostering the dignity of First Nations Canadians.
As I see it, the Government of Canada has promoted indigenous “heritage” - instead of the modern indigenous individual. It all looks so respectful from the outside.
The residential school system IS the Government of Canada’s story to tell to ALL of Canada and the World. It’s a moral obligation, in the name of justice. GIVE US A FULL ACCOUNT. No more piece-by-piece.
The blood of murdered children cries out for justice.

      @ryana3679 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Understand the truth and don’t fall for the lies the media is pushing. Were there horrors. Yes but not the number you think. A large number were lost to illnesses. Was it a horrendous time in our history, yes. Can we learn from it and move forward together, yes. Are reservations in need of actual assistance right now, very much so. Suicide rates are thru the roof. Drug and alcohol addiction is only climbing. Leaders on and off the Rez are driving BMWs and have multiple houses down south. Do I think we should remember the children who were lost. Absolutely. Do I think we should try to find out who they were and what happened? Yes but in time. There are people fighting to survive right now and all everyone is doing is virtue signaling to get more likes on Tiktok by wearing orange and pretending that children who died a century ago means something to them. I’m not trying to be mean but don’t let yourself be fooled again.

Man, whenever I turn sour, watching you two is the right medicine - you teach how to smile and take the hardships of live with a light heart, that happyness is not obtained, but a mindset.
First I stayed to watch you because as a European I was curious to learn about who the Native Americans truly are, behind the blurred racist images of diabetic drunkards in dusty adobe huts and rusty caravans, selling trinkets to casino visitors and not falling down at skyscraper construction sites. Nowadays I keep watching you because of the positive vibes you spread and teach. Thank you for your lessons and.for the.good laughs! Keep it up!

Always remember all the 1505+ kids that died in Boarding/ Residential Schools! The last US Boarding School closed 1978. Last Canadian Residential School closed 1997. Almost every native you know is a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gen survivor😭 On on account of a Residential School Survivor, a girl was impregnated by a priest. Once the baby was born, they dressed the baby girl in a pink dress and burned her alive in the furnace room. You could hear a waaa sound and then burning flesh. These kids faced so much trauma! One of my own grandma's ran away and came back home. Remember all these souls! They were lives lost, not just numbers. They were daughters, sons, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncle's, friends, and so much more. Some of the bodies found were only 3 years old, I can't imagine losing my 3 years old cousin! Rest in Peace to all the little warriors who died!

I grew up in Lamesa Tx ( not far from Lubbock) and we got horrible sandstorms. Lamesa is surrounded by farms. Dust devils can pick you up off a 3 wheeler and toss you in the ditch, while embedding stickers into every inch of your skin. My friend and I would stand on her fence and flip our jackets up like sails so the wind would fling us off it and onto her trampoline. Or let the wind blow us down the sidewalk while we wore skates. Fun times.

A story from the Tuba City Trading Post …
I had stopped at the trading post to pick up our snack, a Pepsi and 2 pieces of beef jerky, 1 for me and 1 for Shaman, my boss’s Irish setter. As per usual I’m the only Anglo in the place. In the line in front of me were 2 teenage girls. Every time a friend came up they would let the friend cut in front of me. They thought this was very amusing. Finally, up came this old arthritic grandmother in traditional dress to get into line. The girls showed her where the back of the line was giggling. Before she could get there I offered the place in front of me. Oh the eye daggers that came from the other side of the counter. Not at me, but at the teenagers. Grandmother was served politely and I got a gentle smile from the counter people. Somehow I think that that wasn’t the ending of that incident, but then again what do I know. I’m only an Anglo who was taught to respect the elderly no matter who they are.

I like the slower pace of this video, you take your time to share a video. Sometimes you only show a video once, and it goes by so fast that you don't have time to laugh before you go to the next. Like how you insert comments from others and the fun edits with added animation. Really enjoy laughing along with you guys.

You two bring a smile to my face and leave a longing in my heart and a tear to my eye which is both happy and sad. I miss and long for family some still here and others long gone. Left with fond memories of what once was and is no more. You two bring me more than laughter, if only you knew the impact you have on others you would be surprised. Thank you both for sharing your life with me. Keep up the good work . May the Lord bless and protect you and your family, with much lov from one dine to another. 😘🙊🙈🙉😋😎

I'm not native, but I'm Taiwanese, and we call our elders uncle/aunty/grandma/grandpa too, and even though I live on the other side of the world from my family, this video reminded me of them and the festivals they took me to as a kid, when they'd chase the big dogs away that scared me, the fireworks and fire crackers, the drunk uncles (random older guys from the neighborhood who came by to drink and play mahjong all the time), and all my cousins who I've hardly seen since I was a kid, thank you.

My nieces had some fun with their children's elf on the shelf a couple of years ago. One of them wrapped the elf's arms and legs around the lotion bottle in the bathroom with a post it on the mirror that said that. The kids won't get the joke, but the adults will!

Super psyched to see Mike found a channel super worth spreading! My favorite Sonics, my favorite Basha’s, reminding me of Curly fries I used to eat, woods I used to cut and short cuts I used to wear…that KFC line is ALWAYS bad, but COVID really did make it worse.

I stayed in with as at least half or more of our community did, to protect our pets from drunks across the street lighting bombs till 1am. This weren’t fireworks. I saw one spark head for the forest floor. Those were loud artillery rounds and bombs. I am going out today. Everyone is in bed with a hangover. Hope you have a great summer and rest of the year. Happy summer day!
