I should have known better! I attended a mega church in northern Kentucky for five years, was very involved. I got easily caught up in all that was going on. I was mad at myself for not seeing what was so wrong with this church, but so thankful my eyes were opened. There came a point where I felt I was not getting feed God's word; I started reading God's word on my own and got a good study Bible and that's when things changed. John MacArthurs church would be considered a mega church. I think it's one that has done it right in my opinion. I can't think of any other examples of any others that teach God's word properly.
Well, you probably made some people mad... Good. I myself attend a little reformed baptist church. We are small but we hear the truth every week, and that's what is the most important to me. I've been to some large churches, but prefer my little country church with 30 people anyday!
Well they trying to get people in church and in God. The problem is they drop their standards to try to draw people. They make God in to a tolerate God. Try to make him seem loving and kind. All he is going to do give them what they want. He just going to love you no matter what. God doesn't punish nor correct and he always agrees with you. They teach a tolerate gospel.
I am so happy for leaving the mega church that I attended for 15 years. When the church first started it didn’t start of bad but as they grew things got worse, they all worship the ground that the pastor walks on, and he loves it. All he is concerned about is money and fame.
Criticism is not enough , I just finished reading « Practicing the Way » by Mark John Comer, and I appreciate his approach as far as church is concerned.
It would be interesting to see you identify a church with a reach and sound doctrine. Respectfully I see criticism (largely valid) but no alternative example to reach the unsaved at scale. It’s easy to point a finger, but the value to the body it would be incomplete without giving examples of where it’s done right and how it’s done at scale (especially in the context of your American society )
I would like to see them too but too many times when you think you’ve found a large sound church, something questionable pops up. The bad are outnumbering the good for sure
agreed. if people watch too many videos like this, it'll deter them from wanting to go to church altogether. There needs to be examples of good churches so people will want to seek them out.
What does it matter if the attendees aren't saved? We seem to be caught up in whether or not people come to church. Shouldn't we be more concerned that people aren't coming to Christ? People were always inviting me to church before I got saved, and I could care less. It wasn't until I came to Christ that my church attendance became important to me. And no. I didn't come to Christ while in church. I came to Christ while in my car driving down the interstate.
@truthseeker4869 I agree wholeheartedly. He drew me to himself, and it changed me for time and eternity. I think we, the church, are missing the point entirely and in ways that are too numerous to be contained in a social media comment section.
I’ve been a member of churches with 100 members, 500 members, and I attend one of the mega churches you mentioned. I’ve found the same types of people in each and In roughly the same percentages. There are those that step up and serve, those the study the word to their best ability, and those who do not. Barring outright non-biblical teaching, and the obvious over the top antics, there’s not much difference. And I can tell you smaller churches can give off a good image when in fact they are just clubs for the members and not welcoming to anyone from the outside. I don’t rely on any church. I rely on my belief in the Messiah, that he died for our sins. I rely on the Holy Spirit and on studying and praying to the Father for guidance and understanding and that I might represent him well and be an asset to his Kingdom. Not one “church” is full of 100% correct people and practices. It’s easier to point out the “shortcomings” of the big churches because they stream their services to the world. More eyeballs can point out more issues that way. But I’m sure there’s some less than becoming stuff going on in the small churches too. I dont know if any current church accurately resembles the ekklesia of the Bible. Stop relying on churches who are full of and led by men. Start relying on the Word of God.
None of the video was talking about the congregation. It was about the "sheppards" of those church who choose not to Sheppard using the word of God. It's about the heresies of the people who are supposed to lead you down a narrow path while instead taking you on the wide road while their main concern is money. And that's who is LEADING THE MOST PEOPLE. Are their bad small churches. Of course. But someone leading 10000 people is alot more pertinent than someone leading 100. Amd if all you care about is the Word? Why still go? What do they have to offer you except the world?
@@Jcikokalol thanks for the clarification. There’s no way to have Mega Church in the title and not insinuate that the congregation is part of the discussion to. But I’ll concede on that point. I was being tactful in the reply which was mainly for people to be careful on passing judgement on churches or even leadership that they may not know entirely about. Like I said there is blatant shenanigans in some big names and it’s repetitive so we can draw a fairly good conclusion on where it may fall biblically. But I watched a 15-second ish clip from a much longer sermon that I was there for that was then used to make some sort of blanket statement about the leadership. This is a major problem within the community of believers and even more so with the saints who have their own platforms such as this. I understand (mostly) there is good intentions but there’s a statement about good intentions and pavement. How many services have they been to? How many times have they spoken with leadership. Have they seen how the leadership guides the resources and funding? Jumping to conclusions off of clips is dangerous at best. Why I still go is actually not something I owe you any explanation for. My walk is my walk. I own no man a reason. I only need to proclaim the Word, love people first including my enemies, and continue to acknowledge the Messiah before man (among other things.) Maybe if you attended the church for a while and came to a real understanding of its working you might know what they offered. Until then, short clips from TH-cam likely can’t reveal much truth.
Your perspective, so right. Yes the big mega churches are way to spot with their errors and teachings. However, I've seen a lot of cult-like movements with worse, more destructive teachings, doctrines and practices go under the radar because they didnt have particularly large congregations. St the end of the day, what we must strive for is a body of Christ, and a Church that sticks to Apostolic doctrine, orthodoxy, and reformed theology. Amen
Hi Cory! I go to the church CCV in Arizona. It’s a big church. I agree with most things u say about these churches. However my church does preach the word of God, and I do feel like I’m being fed at this church. I also have my antennas up with false teachers and the prosperity gospel.
I attend a southern Baptist mega church that teaches the Bible, explains salvation, and gives an altar call every Sunday, and one very large Christmas pageant.
The flip side of this is, when holiness churches teach that you need to allow God to change you,or when they preach holiness , people say they are being legalistic. Plus I have been to some small churches that are always trying to manipulate people for more money, and they are talk of their desire to be a bigger church. I have also been to big churches where they do teach soundly.
These places are nothing but corporations. It's all about the leadership, musicians, etc. and people that come are nothing more than warm bodies whose only function is to supply money to finance the lavish lifestyles of the leadership and give adoration and obedience to the aforementioned.
I think one of the first megachurches in the US was Angelus Temple. Founded by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923. It was ecumenical and used entertainment and elaborate productions as part of the service.
My family and I have been prayerfully searching for a biblically sound church in the Atlanta area since we relocated here during COVID. Any Smart Christians with recommendations?
I pray for all of those so-called Pastors to go back to the very first time they fell in love with Jesus Christ and go back and Repent and start over 🙏 and also pray for those souls attending these churches to receive discernment from God and run away and truly seek Jesus with their heart's. Jesus is King!
You’re giving the benefit of the doubt to leaders who are very likely false converts. They “fell in love with” a false Jesus or came to Him through a false gospels.
Every church should post on their doors what percentage of their income goes to helping people in need compared to the percentage that is used internally. Why did Jesus turn tables over at the temple? How are the merch sales this month?
This hurts me so bad. I go to a large church and we don’t get our ears tickled. We get the word of God and great heart felt worship. Just so you know, Timothy’s church ran about 40,000. I think that would be considered a mega church. The fact that you lump all big churches into this category shows me you don’t know what you’re talking about; you’re just criticizing your brother. Umm, didn’t I John tell us not to do that?
Is this what happens when the people who grew up in immature youth groups that were just there to entertain are now the adults and still immature in Christian growth?
I love this content. I've been around the church my entire life and I'm 48 years old. Almost 30 years of that I've been involved in ministry to some extent including serving as lead pastor in a few instances. I have been so grieved at how the church has lost the Presence and Word of God and replaced it with vacuous empty secular entertainment. And because the saints have not been preached to and taught the word of God they cheer right along and have no idea what they're missing out on.
No. That interpretation of metaphor would contradict explicit scriptures. Scripture does not contradict scripture. You need to look for an alternate understanding of such verses.
It seems Christians and Pastors have forgotten we are called to go into the world and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost as God draws them by his Holy Spirit through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ into the body of Christ which is the Church! Mark 16: 15. John 12: 32. We are not called to the Rick Warren ideology of turning the church into a watered-down sinner friendly one stop inspirational coffee shop entertainment compound designed to satisfy our fleshly comforts. John 4: 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
God bless you sir, you mentioned as it were there are churches that are contending for the faith. Why not present clips of that on your channel. This focus on the error that is going on is necessary but what about clips of churches contending for the faith and teaching sound doctrine?
2 Timothy 4:3-4 in the Bible says that people will come to a time when they will reject sound teaching and instead seek out teachers who will tell them what they want to hear
That clip of Crossroads Church wasn't completely true. I was there & although not a member, I have some brothers in Christ who are members. On superbowl Sunday, that WASN'T a Bible they actually kicked. Still liked the video.
I can tell you around here I've tried to find a good church although I get it no church is perfect but just when i feel goid out comes the "we need c to accept everyone " and not judge each other.....yup hugging the rainbow....and then the Luke warm message.....
I don't attend a mega church. But one thing that I want to point out is: Has it ever occurred to you that people are looking for the power of God? Not entertainment? People want to see the gospel presented not just in words but in power. Something that is lacking in many churches including mega churches.
I am a member of First Baptist Dallas. And I like it!!! I always feel spiritually refreshed and it feels like a real bible preaching church. I always stay away from these cultural charismatic churches that are always trying to put on a show and tickle peoples ears about social issues. I do not like Gateway or Potters house.
The church was forged in persecution and will be purified in persecution. just like gold is purified Through Fire... but first the impurities have to come off, and that only come off when you put them through fire. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

My brother Go to this biblical Baptist it in Belton TX and the sanctuary is very old very but they are going to build a new church where they started and the church is a mase if you are not used to it the old worship look kind like theater but having small stage with multiple steps for choir and a other church merge with them because the other church lost their church building to fire. And they going to sell all the church properties to a Christian college once they get the new building done
As an fyi the minister who talked about the importance of Christians being filled with the Holy Spirit is biblically accurate, for this is recorded in Acts 19:1-6.
The gospel is enough, you don’t need a concert or a show. The beautiful word of God is enough. I left a very large local church that started out sound but turned into a weekly concert / show and less and less of Jesus
I don't care about the size of a church. I care about the truth of God's word being preached. As long as what the Pastor is preaching is coming straight from the book, I could care less about how many people attend. And it's not just the megachurches, the smaller ones can be just as bad, if not worse. It's not always about the size, but rather what's going on within the size.
I’ve always said (not prophesying, just my two cents) that these mega churches will be a thing of the past. Things will go back to being more personal, properly spirit led places of worship.
They care more about sounding good, rather than being biblically correct.

I am so happy for leaving the mega church that I attended for 15 years. When the church first started it didn’t start of bad but as they grew things got worse, they all worship the ground that the pastor walks on, and he loves it. All he is concerned about is money and fame.
Love the teaching and the shirt.
Criticism is not enough , I just finished reading « Practicing the Way » by Mark John Comer, and I appreciate his approach as far as church is concerned.
The Charismatic and prosperity movement are the worst things to ever happen to the church.
Where can I get one of those T shirts?💥🔥
@@laynefields5836 Which proves it is Christ who draws everyone to Himself and in His timing.
@truthseeker4869 I agree wholeheartedly. He drew me to himself, and it changed me for time and eternity. I think we, the church, are missing the point entirely and in ways that are too numerous to be contained in a social media comment section.
The Sinner Friendly Churches, that what I call them!
Your post made me think about the Church Jesus said He would build and the gates of hell would not prevail over HIS church
I only need to proclaim the Word, love people first including my enemies, and continue to acknowledge the Messiah before man (among other things.)
Maybe if you attended the church for a while and came to a real understanding of its working you might know what they offered.
Amen
Karzi sana👌✝️GOOD JOB👍
Very Well Said & Explained
Blessings of Shalom Shalom
Yup! Yup! Yup! Corey, you got it, 🎯💯🎯💯
Have you done a church history video(s)?
When I seen these churches,.. I didn’t even know if it was a church
Hi Cory! I go to the church CCV in Arizona. It’s a big church. I agree with most things u say about these churches. However my church does preach the word of God, and I do feel like I’m being fed at this church. I also have my antennas up with false teachers and the prosperity gospel.
So then, read the breakthrough novel “Where Do We Go Now, LORD? - Burke.” Explains much. Very much. Enjoy!
I attend a southern Baptist mega church that teaches the Bible, explains salvation, and gives an altar call every Sunday, and one very large Christmas pageant.
I appreciate your straight forward Biblical approach. Also... I spy that cup up on your shelf. Co Colts!
Good teaching, but you are so funny!!!❤😂🎉
The flip side of this is, when holiness churches teach that you need to allow God to change you,or when they preach holiness , people say they are being legalistic. Plus I have been to some small churches that are always trying to manipulate people for more money, and they are talk of their desire to be a bigger church.
I have also been to big churches where they do teach soundly.
I watch your vids on a regular basis. What church do you attend in Texas?
The one thing these churches all have in common is that they are located on the broad path, never on the narrow path
It’s everywhere. Mega, small, home churches. There are many who are not speaking truth. It’s sad.
My family and I have been prayerfully searching for a biblically sound church in the Atlanta area since we relocated here during COVID. Any Smart Christians with recommendations?
Lifegate church Villa Rica
I pray for all of those so-called Pastors to go back to the very first time they fell in love with Jesus Christ and go back and Repent and start over 🙏 and also pray for those souls attending these churches to receive discernment from God and run away and truly seek Jesus with their heart's.
Jesus is King!
You’re giving the benefit of the doubt to leaders who are very likely false converts. They “fell in love with” a false Jesus or came to Him through a false gospels.
Where can I get that shirt 💪?
Can you recommend a good sound church in Los Angeles California?
And to false converts.
Ding Ding Ding.
Hard to preach a sermon that might offend when you have all those bills to pay.
My wake up call was merch was ready and available but no cross to be found anywhere
That’s why I want to ask brother Corey “didn’t some of them loose their salvation” it validates last verses in Revelation 22:18-19
No. That interpretation of metaphor would contradict explicit scriptures. Scripture does not contradict scripture. You need to look for an alternate understanding of such verses.
Sickening. How long oh Lord? How long? Will he allow this this outlandish blasphany!!
Like your shirt 😊
I know the Lord is just sitting back like .... 😮😮 And let you try and correct them or hold them accountable !
This reminds me of the movie Church People
I want that shirt!
God bless you sir, you mentioned as it were there are churches that are contending for the faith. Why not present clips of that on your channel. This focus on the error that is going on is necessary but what about clips of churches contending for the faith and teaching sound doctrine?
Where money is magnified God's Spirit is not.
If it makes the fleshly nature happy it wasn't from God!!!
2 Timothy 4:3-4 in the Bible says that people will come to a time when they will reject sound teaching and instead seek out teachers who will tell them what they want to hear
These churches are Gods judgment on people who want the blessings of God, but not God Himself. Gateway here in the DFW area is a great example.
These pastors are business man 💵
That clip of Crossroads Church wasn't completely true. I was there & although not a member, I have some brothers in Christ who are members. On superbowl Sunday, that WASN'T a Bible they actually kicked. Still liked the video.
I still hope that there are still some mega churches who preaches the word of God
I can tell you around here I've tried to find a good church although I get it no church is perfect but just when i feel goid out comes the "we need c to accept everyone " and not judge each other.....yup hugging the rainbow....and then the Luke warm message.....
There's one in upper Marlboro
Amen.
Agree!
That’s an interesting interpretation: false believers will depart due to persecution.
Enduring does not make a believer, enduring reveals a believer.
@@ricksonora6656 That's not my opinion or my interpretation. it's what the word of God says.
Matthew 24:13 He who endures till the end shall be saved.
@@namelesswreck6383 Saved from what? Saved under what circumstances? Without the answers to those questions, the text is ambiguous. “A text without a context is a pretext.”
Your misinterpretation causes you to use an ambiguous text to contradict explicit texts.
“They shall never (emphatically) perish.”
“Has eternal life.”
“Another they will not follow.”
“None can pluck them out of my hand.”
“None can pluck them out of the Father’s hand.”
“Sealed unto the day of redemption [not’ day of judgement’]”
“Has passed out of death into life”
“Born not by… the will of the flesh… but of God”
Your god may contradict Himself. Your god may save through human merit. Mine doesn’t. Mine saves through faith in the merit of Christ.
These bigger church always teaching God got a blessing with your name on it and give and give and God gonna blessing you , you're not receiving from God because you don't have enough faith wake up in the .morning saying I am blessed and the head not the tale I am beautiful wonderful wonderful made and so on and so on
My brother Go to this biblical Baptist it in Belton TX and the sanctuary is very old very but they are going to build a new church where they started and the church is a mase if you are not used to it the old worship look kind like theater but having small stage with multiple steps for choir and a other church merge with them because the other church lost their church building to fire. And they going to sell all the church properties to a Christian college once they get the new building done
AMEN!
Amen🕊️
I can’t believe it anymore. How do they have so much money?
It’s difficult for me to understand how a presentation like this is helpful to anyone saved or unsaved. Your doing more harm than good 😢
As an fyi the minister who talked about the importance of Christians being filled with the Holy Spirit is biblically accurate, for this is recorded in Acts 19:1-6.
Amen!!
Tony Evans church is the best example of a great mega church
Turning into the business of church. Enterprise center with church financing.
I’ve always said (not prophesying, just my two cents) that these mega churches will be a thing of the past. Things will go back to being more personal, properly spirit led places of worship.
5:34 this is a real Christian version of F around and Fiind out -- when pastors think they can cross the line and get away with things...
